1601 N OCEAN BLVD
SURFSIDE BEACH, SC 29575

or if you know of any other ones that are nice and not too expensive right on the strand please let me know ..

thanks Michelle

I don't have an answer for you, but I am "BUMPING" this up because we are interested in a summer Myrtle Beach vacation as well.

I haven't been there personally but I know when I go to a new place I like to research accomodations on www.Tripadvisor.com
They just about always have a lot of reviews on any hotel I am interested in.

My Dh stays here when he is on busines in MB, he calls us to make sure we can hear the waves crash from his balcony :p. It is nice and the beaches on that end of Myrtle aren't that crowded.

I have never stayed there, but I have stayed at the Crown Reef some years ago and enjoyed the visit.

Make sure you ask for an "oceanfront" room. With "oceanview" you may just get a peak at the ocean.

I have watched MB grow from just sand dunes to one of the most popular family destinations on the east coast. I go every August and would be glad to answer any questions. I now own a time share just south of MB in Surfside Beach. TIP 1: You MUST have a car!

Thanks for all the post so far .. I will have a car we will be driving from Maine .. anyone else ??

We just came back from a stay at the new Marriot Grand Dunes resort. WOW! Just a beautiful place, awesome pool area ( 2 oceanfront pools, cool pool slide and a hot tub). Nice beach area as well. We went from beach to pool all day then headed up to the room to shower for dinner and the all important min-golf!
(If you've never been to MB it must be the miniature golf capital of the world!)

On the down side, it is just a hotel room although a beautiful one with comfy beds and down comforters (reminded me of the newly designed rooms at the Swan/Dolphin but smaller and with floral spreads. Also there are very few oceanfront rooms, ours was ocean view which was ok but not as nice as staying ocean front. Also there was no balcony, only floor to ceiling sliders with a railing that you could look out over.

There are builiding a new Marriot Vacation Club condo next door that we toured and are very very nice and they may be available for rent next year.

For condo accomodations I would also reccomend SeaWatch where we have also stayed. Tripadvisor is a great sight and will give you great ideas about the hotels in MB. Any other questions? Just ask!

I have stayed there twice! It is very nice and right on the beach. You will love it!

The Sunspree was awful. We had no hot water and the beds were like rocks. The room was the filthiest I have ever seen at MB. :p There are much nicer hotels in MB. Go with the Camelot or one of the newer high rise resorts.
