Most of the comments in this statement are pure fiction. Ether the CM was trying to "scare" you, or you are trying to "scare" others.

Not too sure about that. As has been mentioned, there are tons of apps that have a location feature. I opt out for the most part, but there are some I use it on. As for the Wii/Xbox comment, I know that you can use your magic band to unlock features on Disney Infinity, so it isn't out of the realm of possibility that they could know the band is in your house. Though, it would be impossible to know exactly what you were actually doing in the house.

With the location on they might just be able to tell where you are..

If they could get GPS location info over a normal phone call, sure (and we should all be disabling that), but as far as I know that only applies to emergency services calls...been a while since I've looked at that. My GPS locator is off when I'm not actively using it anyways.

If a reservations CM is getting location information from the MDX app, then there is a serious privacy issue. It's one thing if you are calling Disney IT about the app - it's completely different if you're calling to book a room where that information is completely unnecessary. Not to mention how completely improper the conversation with the CM was.

IF this were true, the poster should be contacting Disney's guest communications at a minimum.

Well, I haven't disassembled the Infinity pad yet (I kind of want to actually use it... ), but there is every indication that it is a passive RFID receiver, as the game pieces are also passive. To use it with the MagicBand, it has to be in VERY close proximity. So it isn't just knowing it is in the house, but is actually being used with the game.

But it remains true, they'd have no idea what you were doing other than playing the game. Which they don't need the band to do.

Doc and Mesa (or anyone else who may know ), I'm sure this in on the boards somewhere, but since you both are around right now, do you either one of you know about the double dipping of FP- and FP+? I am in a test resort, and not sure if we have to use up all of our FP+ options prior to pulling regular FPs or if they are totally unconnected. Not sure we will even do it that often, but I'm thinking specifically of TSM. Can we do our regular plan of riding standby at rope drop, pulling a regular FP immediately after riding and then use a FP+ later in the day OR will we need to schedule an early FP+ time and try to hope for a regular FP to be available after the FP+ time? While I am excited about testing the new systems, I'm also kinda lost.

It looks nice and user friendly and like its intended to be used in the parks, but I don't see myself lugging that around. Anything bigger than a phone is too big for me.

I have an iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini. I plan on using the iPhone out and about in the parks and the iPad mini will be used at our hotel. I think even the iPad mini might still be too big to carry around as I intend to have minimum items in my back pack, such as water and my dslr.

This isn't anything new. Lots of apps have the ability to pinpoint your location. I don't have "location" turned on for any app except for one on my apple devices.

Go to Settings. Tap Security. Tap Location Services. You will see a list of a couple dozen apps or more listed. For any apps that you don't want tracking your location - change to No.

Agree with this. Not sure why so many folks don't believe that the MDE app can see your location. It already uses your location to determine if you are in the parks or not. Don't any of you use Google Maps, Gas Buddy or Find Friends? Your phone pinpoints your exact location and feeds it to the app. When we use Find Friends we always laugh, it's creepy how exact it is. If you have a real concern about this, do not download the MDE to your phone. Use only the desktop version.

If you have an I touch, I'd bring that instead and use that for the app only and your phone for everything else.

I've already bought a portable charger. Last year my iPhone died by 3 pm, and we hardly used it. Location services must have just drained it. After I turned it off and restricted my use, it would last the whole day but I anticipate with bands, ( IF I have them.....) will want to keep everything on and running on the app.

I like that idea! My son has an iPod touch. Might help to have lots of devices if the batteries don't hold!
