You can probably get magic bands if you do a 1 day stay at POP at the beginning of your vacation. That's what I did. I read a lot of threads where people did this and they got magic bands for their whole stay. So I tried it last night and with in a few minutes, magic bands were offered to me:)

Are you actually staying the night at POP? It's not right to take a room from someone just because you want a MB. This takes away from those who actually want to stay at POP.

I never said I would do this. But I hate the fact that the testing resorts are getting a leg up on me already. They have the priveldge of not having to run around (sometimes across the park) just to get a fastpass to ensure they can ride a ride without a large wait.

Why don't you switch resorts if its that important?

I did not mean to offend anyone and was just voicing my opinion. I have less of a "reservation" (haha) about this if the "ghost" room is actually used. Otherwise, it's a shame a room would be wasted. Theoretically, the value resorts could start to reach capacity because of these "ghost reservations," preventing other families on a budget from enjoying WDW.

I agree completely with this, no matter the reason. If MBs are that important to people the. They should switch resorts not take away from others, again NO MATTER THE REASON.

Are the Disney resorts maxing out capacity?

I suspect there are a lot of vacant rooms and Disney is probably all to happy to sell an extra room out of its inventory.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards And as I said before............ Since you asked I will tell you why I did this. I have had custody of my 5 year old granddaughter since day 1 of her life. Her parents are both heron addicts and this baby has been through a hell that no child should ever have to go through. We have not had a vacation since this nightmare began. This is my granddaughters vacation and I will deny her nothing for this week. She deserves this. I have splurged and bought all the extras so she can have a week of happiness for once in her life. She thinks the magic bands are so cool and if all I have to do is spend and extra $114 to make her happier, I WILL. You have no idea the hell this child has been through and the dangerous situations she has been in. Sorry to others for the TMI but since this person asked.................... It's only for one day and the place is not booked.

What do the "non-customized" bands look like? Will all 4 of us get the same color at check in? Can you pay to change them to a custom version or can you buy something to set them apart from one another?

Thanks!

You will get "Iconic Grey" bands. There are no plans for the resorts to keep anything else in stock, so you won't even be able to pay for another.

However, you can "bling" them with accessories, which will be on sale at the resort.

Am I missing something? I believe AKL Kidani is currently not a testing resort? So in that case MB is not available for them, correct?

The reason I ask for clarification is that I'm waiting on info on Kidani. Thanks.

From what I understand, it is at AKL Jambo House and Jambo House Villas.

How soon before a trip is the latest you can customize bands? We have 14 days until we go and my sister may be adding on to our trip this weekend. She is okay with a grey band and picking it up once she gets to the resort but I'm wondering if it will have her name on it or not.

During testing it seems a bit inconsistent, but the plan is that up until 10 days, you can customize and get it sent to you. Up to 5 days, you can customize and pick up at the resort. 4 or less days, you get grey, no names or anything.

...

I am understanding from previous posts that I can do regular FP in addition to FP+ (for now while they are in test phase). My question is how exactly do you do that at the regular FP machine. Am I using my paper ticket from Undercover Tourist, or the MB? By linking the paper ticket on MDE is it now void? Do I have to enter the park using my paper ticket for it to work in the regular FP machine? I don't think my paper ticket has the RF technology, if that matters.

Very frustrating trying to figure this out. I learn more reading your forums than I do on the phone with Disney, so any advice you can share is much appreciated.

Anyone answer this yet? I'd like to know also.:confused3

Sorry to hear about your granddaughter's situation and hope you have a wonderful visit. Nevertheless, I stand by my comment regarding it being wrong to take rooms at a value resort just to assure you get MBs and FP+. The dream your family has of coming to WDW is likely akin to that held by many families, so why take up more reservation slots than need be? I know that when I go in November, it will be our first and possibly last trip to WDW. It will be just as meaningful to us.

I think I may have answered this or a similar question earlier.

You use your regular ticket or KTTW card to get a regular Fastpass, as always. The regular Fastpass machines do not have RFID readers, only the regular magstripe readers. There is nothing to use the MagicBands with.

Linking the ticket does not void the ticket.

If you do not link the ticket, the ticket will be your only admission media that will work, but you'll also not be able to make FP+ reservations.

And you'll probably want to trade the UT ticket in for an RFID card at one of the ticket booths. You'll be able to get in easier. But you'll use it just the same - no difference, as it will also have the magstripe to use in the Fastpass machines.

Well then if there is anyone out there that wants a night at POP on Oct 26th, they can have it. I'm sure we can work it out somehow.

Originally, I had a six night package at POR with a 6 day park hopper for the first full week of October. I had fast passes reserved and magic bands customized.

Today, I changed all that.

So, I changed to a package for four nights at YC with a six day park hopper. I also have a separate room only reservation at CBR for two days following the YC reservation. This is for the first full week of October.

I've linked everything up online (both rooms show up) and have fastpasses reserved for six days (I didn't have to do anything; they stayed put).

My magic bands are ordered (today was last day to customize).

Here are my questions- I know that I'll be using the magic bands for the first four nights at YC. Beginning on my check out day at YC/check in day at CBR, will I still be using the magic band for my tickets for the last two days of my vacation? But, my charging privileges and room key will be on a new KTTW card from CBR? Is that right? Or will be room key for CBR and charging privileges also be on the magic band.

Last, will I be able to use SAB with my magic band on my check out day from YC after I've checked out?

ETA- my fifth day of using the tickets will be the check out day at YC/check in day at CBR (if this matters)
