***MyMagic+ & FastPass+ Official Information & FAQ Thread***

Spent several hours researching with no answer: Anyone buy a ticket from SoG or a military MWR lately? I stopped at mine and they confirmed that what I would buy there is a hard plastic ticket NOT a voucher. But they have to order them. What I don't know is if there is a 12 digit code on the back and if I can use that code to add the ticket to my MDE reservation. If it can't then there will be a whole lot of military active duty and veterans who will be excluded from the 60 day FP+ reservation system

At least they were able to get some clever merchandise rolled out. You don't need a magic band to buy the magic band tshirt.

Yes, but I also wonder if this is the reason why Staggs COULD say they have seen an increase in spending by testers (we don't know how much on average, could be a dollar, could be 100).

I can totally see return guests, who have a lot of merch already, seeing the "Band" stuff and going, ok. Or kids seeing this stuff and being excited about it. But I would think that would be a short time spike, and once the novelty of the band wears off, back to normal.

Virtually any kind of ticket voucher or plastic ticket card (KTTW style) can be added/linked to your MDE (and you would therefore be eligible for FP+ reservations when it's fully rolled out). :)

Apparently newer AP vouchers are not being accepted by the system yet. Pre-February vouchers seem to work though.

My MagicBands have shipped to my home. They will be here on Monday. I did *not* receive an email invite to test, but took the chance anyway. Looks like that was a good idea!

Now that they are on their way, I actually have the option to "manage" my bands. They're all listed, with an ID when you click on the individual bands and I have the option to deactivate them.

I'm going to say something that's been bugging me but will surely get me flamed, but I feel the need to say it.

I understand not wanting to read through 50 pages of posts regarding FP+ and MyMagic+, but how does that relate to just posting that you selected in a test. It's kinda baffeling why there are an upwards of ten MyMagic+ related threads. I understand everyone's desire to be the "OP" and to have your thread be the most popular, but realistically, it's really making it difficult to compile information. I started this thread with that idea (not to receive any attention), but I guess it's true: people don't read the stickies and surely don't read any "official" thread.

I agree to that-I don't care who starts what thread-all I want to know is RESULTS AND REVIEWS!!

That's why I think that someone who has concrete first-hand experience in using FP+ to report should start a thread for it -- so that we can find those results and reviews in the first post. At least for now! (Once this gets rolled out more fully and there tons of first-hand reports, no longer so important.)

The problem with the long threads is that they become 90% speculation and arguments, and it's time-consuming to find the other 10%.

I do agree that there's not much need to start a thread which simply says "I was selected for testing" with no other information.

Ok then-I'll start it and let people post... Perhaps even a Mod could stickie something for us...

OK-I started a new thread in theme parks... It's "Have you used FP+?? Post your experience here!!" I asked for FP+/MM+ users to post their trials and tribulations but ONLY those that have used it. Any moderators/webmasters please feel free to sticky or move it somewhere you feel appropriate but I figured that the theme park forum was best...

Well feel free to grab my post from yesterday ;) I'm also going to test the FP+ tomorrow without having accessed the park with a linked ticket. I was able to book another day of FP+ selections but we only have a 1day ticket (that was used yesterday) linked in MDE. So I'm really curious what will happen when we show up at our booked selections after entering the park with our APs.

So I took G-dad's suggestion and opened a new thread because we just want reviews not speculation in a 50 page thread that you can get lost in!

being retired Air Force I was planning on buying tickets from MWR bt was concerned that military tickets (including SoG) would not link to MDE. So I contacted Disney and here is their reponse:

Currently Military tickets cannot be linked to My Disney Experience
accounts. These are a different type of tickets than our Magic Your Way
tickets. In the future these tickets may be eligible for linking. I
would recommend keeping an ear out for that information since right now
the MyMagic+ experience options (such as linking tickets) is still in
testing stages.

So it seems military personnel are screwed by the new Disney system. I have no idea if we will even be able to use FP+ once we are in the parks. Not happy!

I wrote back to Disney and expressed my concerns and they responded:

We look forward to your upcoming visit! We are still in the testing
phase for this exciting new feature! At this time the traditional
FastPass will still be available for you in November.

So I guess I will at least have the old system.

I also emailed them about my January trip because I don't plan to purchase tickets until I arrive and they responded that I can use fastpass and that there are no plans to discontinue fastpass.

I see this as a benefit. Until I know exactly how fp+ will work, I prefer to use the fastpass system. If it turns out that at some point they change it so that you can get both advance booked fp+ and onsite fp+, then it will be worthwhile to get advance tickets.

Really don't think so... Everything points to FP gong away.. When who knows but none the less gone..

And, until "FP classic" is removed, we don't know how it will actually continue to work...
due to FP+ reservations pulling from the total number of FP "positions" available per ride/per day.

i.e. If Soarin' NOW runs out of regular FP's at (on average) 12:15PM
when they are only being taken by other guests in the park that day,
when will Soarin' run out of regular FP's after hundreds of those FP positions
have been pre-booked many days in advance by FP+?

Great question-hopefully we'll hear from a few people that are going soon what it's really like.

We won't necessarily know what the true impact is until EVERYONE is using it.

You're absolutely right Doc-I've got a few people about to go in another thread for FP+ users-one person did a test back in December and said it was HORRIBLE and so not worth the hassle. The way it looks(after talking to an e commerce rep @WDW last night) is that early to mid 2014 seems to be the "full rollout dates to be determined but most certainly it will be fully operational by your stay in September 2014"
