Okay. There is so much to read on this thread and since I am new I am just going to ask. My eyes hurt from reading. We are going in Dec and I was wondering if anyone knows if MyMagic+ will be rolled out by then or will they still be testing. We are staying at BLT.

No, no one knows for certain. However, there are indications that it is becoming more likely.

Will Call is different than exchange certificates themselves...although you can get exchange certificates for will call pickup. With Will Call, you are supposed to get a barcode in the confirmation letter that can be entered, although I don't know how it works with Will Call vouchers (aka Exchange Certificates).

If you physically have the exchange cards, what format is the ticket ID in? Is it the old format (WXX:NNN, etc.) or is the new 12-character codes? Those DVC PAP certificates are old-style.

The exchange certificates do not have a 12 digit number, however they do have a bar code with about a 16 digit code under it. What's weird is if you look at the will call codes they also utilize about a 16 digit code, not a 12 digit code. If they can link the will call codes, why not the exchange certificate codes?

I'm going during Thanksgiving, and if I have to wait to schedule my FP+ until the day we get to WDW, I'm going to be upset because I'm pretty sure that I will not be able to access any of the main attractions at the times I want because the fastpasses will already be picked over.

So it has the barcode number, which is an alternate to the old ticket numbers I believe that they started putting on tyvek tickets as a backup...but for this purpose, it sounds to me like they are essentially will call orders (after all, the exchange certificates were really nothing more than will call "bearer" certificates...makes it easier for the CM to look up the info). So I don't understand why they can't be treated as such in DMX.

I would definitely register my "displeasure" if things go live and you still can't do it.

According to this Time article, Disney feels like the tests are going great.

No real news to help the guests and consumer though. Seems like the media could get some mileage out if the tech problems and delays.

They don't really need to give me a wristband. A trip to LaCava usually loosens up my wallet.

Generally it's got to be open to begin with there...afterwards I don't think the cash ever sees the wallet the rest of the day :)

The headline says it all:

Give Disney Visitors Hi-Tech Wristbands and They Spend More Money

They obviously left out the fact that the first tests were done with guests staying at AKL who are already spending more money on their resort stay than many other guests, so therefore, they might possibly have spent more on food and shopping as well, with or without a Magic Band. Can we "hope" the Disney brass actually compared this data to other guests also staying at AKL to come to this conclusion?

that's a quantam leap. staying at a more or less expensive resort probably isn't any kind of indicator of spending level on other items. we have stayed at values, moderates and deluxes and i can safely say that our spending habits are the same regardless of which pillow we put our head down on at night.

Also, AKL is one resort, there are other deluxe and DVC resorts that cost as much or more, so technically AKL is outnumbered by those guests as well.

My guess is they spun the fact that they could track spending more closely with the magicband that it gives the appearance of more spending by the guest. when in reality, there is no way to know how much the guest would have really spent without the magicband tracking. there is no way to track cash or credit card expenditures that i am aware of...

I know I personally spend more when I'm at value resort vs. moderate but I really don't think it matters where I stay I'm gonna spend what I'm gonna spend.

At least they were able to get some clever merchandise rolled out. You don't need a magic band to buy the magic band tshirt.

Any experiences (or even guesses) for magic band and cast member main gate entries? In the past, when you were a guest of a cast member the turnstile kicked out a park ticket.

I would like to know the answer to this also, maybe Cheshire figment knows. we will be at YC in 2 wks on a cast member and have ordered our magic bands, so if no one answers before that I'll get back to you, after the 3rd and 4th of Aug.
