Rethinking this after reading the experiences of the testers. They are saying it wasn't a favorable experience.

When maelstrom accepts FP, that standby line is intolerable (at least it is in the summer.). So if the fastpass is in use, I use one there. The last few visits FP has not been in use and the standby line goes fairly quickly.

I'm not into parades...too much hassle and annoyance.

As a short person...If I wanted to actually see a parade and not shoulders and heads...I need to get to a viewing place way in advance.

Even though I have done this in the past...people still put their children (who are TALLER then I!!) in front of me.

(Yes I do mind having your 5 food 2 daughter standing on front of me... she can see over my head, get behind me....thank you. :P)

So, if I liked parades THAT much, yea I'd do a FP for em...less chance of a tall child standing in front of me. :)

Or, like us, you have the opposite problem. We get there early, save our perfect spot on the curb, etc... We are tall (6'6" and 5'9".) The parade starts, someone shorter comes up at the last minute with all their kids, and then yells at us because they can't see and can we let their kids in front of us, oh and mom needs to stand with them too, oh and don't forget the stroller and grandma and..........:faint: This is why we haven't found a "spot" to watch a parade or fireworks in any of our last 3 trips.

Well, I needed to call IPO this morning because after an email inquiry I received a response and at the end of the email IPO wrote:

"If you have not done so, we highly recommend you visit www.disneyworld.com to sign up for My Disney Experience account and complete online check-in. This will streamline your check in process and

keep you up-to-date with the new MyMagic+ enhancements we have coming in the near future."

Since we are checking into the WL next week, I wanted to find out exactly what they meant by 'My Magic+ Enhancements coming in the near future." For some reason by call was diverted to the IPO at AKL. The chatty IPO CM said the following:

(dont shoot the messsenger)

-They received much feedback re: the most recent MagicBand/FastPass+ testing.
-Some was very positive.
-Some very negative
-AKL is designated as a 'test resort' and it is slated to begin the MagicBand/fastPass+ roll out beginning the end of this month, but of course that could change.
-E-mails have been sent to AKL guests informing them of this.
-The roll out will happen very slowly over time.
- I asked about the WL and he said there exists a schedule of the rollout and if we are checking in next week, we will not be part of it.
- During at least part of the roll-out guest will be able to participate in FP+ and Regular FP only of they figure this out on their own because they are not telling folks they can do this. Some guests during the test tried to use FP and were successful and some assumed they could not use Regular FP.
- There is a FP+ button on the app. Some will press it and nothing will happen. Some will be able to make FP+ reservations, depending on where their resort is in the rollout calendar.
- At some point, FP will go away completely
-MDE is linked to one specific email.
- They are having more problems with MDE than they anticipated.
- Only dining reservations will currently show up on MDE. Speciality cruises, tours, parties will not.
- They included the "if you have not done so, we highly recommend you visit www.disneyworld.com to sign up for My Disney Experience account and complete online check-in. This will streamline your check in process and
keep you up-to-date with the new MyMagic+ enhancements we have coming in the near future" blurb in my email because they are beginning to get the word out how important it is for guests to have an MDE account because
- everything will be liked thru that
- that is how you will make your dining reservations
- that is how you will make your FP+ reservations 60 days in advance

- If you do not have a MDE account, you will receive (when the time comes) a gray MagicBand upon check-in and you can make your FP+ reservations at a kiosk at the resort or at the parks.

- Some people will refuse the band and they will be issued a KTTW (which, he said has always had RFID) but will not be able to use FP+

I think I remembered everything. Again, don't shoot the messenger. Who knows how accurate all this is but I thought I'd do my DIS duty and pass it along.

:dance3:

This is interesting info, thanks!

We are doing a magic band /FP+ testing next week and being put up at AKL to do it so it makes sense now to why we are supposed to do some of things we've been asked to do there. We are being issued magic bands and everything will be on them, tickets, room keys, & charging.

Still can't make FP+ selections on the website but I got a lot farther than I did before. At least I can see how it is going to be....you don't pick your FP times, you get to pick from a preselected trio of times. I'm even more disappointed with it after seeing how it is setup. But we'll give it a whirl and see what happens...if I can ever get it to accept my selections.

Hope you can get it to work. :goodvibes

And hope you will then share with us what choices were offered to you.

Well that is interesting.popcorn::
It will make a huge difference whether the trio of times is grouped closely together or spread far apart. I vote for close together. Then one could book the trio of evening times and do rope drop that am to ride other attractions with no wait...taking a midday rest.

Per all previous reports, it gives you "suggested" times, but you can change them afterwards.

It gave me 4 trios of options. Spread out all day, all morning, all afternoon, all evening/night. I didn't see any place to change specific times to other times. I was able to book the MK but now I'm trying to switch the day to the next day and it kept giving me error messages about having system challenges. So I need to try again today.

Whoa...you got a free room at AKL just to do some MagicBand testing! That's pretty sweet...did they say why you were selected? Have fun!! :thumbsup2

DH is a CM so not random. I expect that there are going to be lots of issues hence the CM testing it first.

I thought the CMs already had at it, and then they did the guest testing...interesting that they seem to be going back to CM testing...

Maybe that keeps most of the feedback internal for now. :)

....or hopping from another park.

This 1 day 1 park thing is soooo strange after all the money Dis makes on park hopper passes (meaning the increased price over a non-hopper). Having pre-selected times by the system that could be spread out (1 morning, 1 afternoon, 1 eve) eliminates the ability to park hop, and may cause people to decide not to pay the upgraded price for hoppers.

I would hope they offer you the opportunity to schedule your own times based on your touring preferences. For us, it's a park in the am and then back Bay Lake and then night at MK.

All the strategies I read that seem successful is to get to a park at RD and book FP+ for late afternoon.

There is definitely something not computing with the Park Hopper option.

On the face of it, it seems like park hopping is being limited. The user will be able to rope drop at one location and then hop to a park with FP+ selections, but I wouldn't think most people would do that. Most people don't even rope drop. If no FP are available when you hop, that would really shut down the hopping.

I am wondering if discouraging AP holders from hopping is part of this? Do AP holders outweigh Park Hoppers?

Also, do you think there is an advantage in slowing down park hopping? Would transportation costs drop that much? Would streamlining the amount of workers in the park help?

Is this part of the plan of keeping crowds lower at parks in the evening so that they can eliminate EMH? If this slowed down people flooding into MK for the fireworks or Epcot for illuminations?

It really doesn't make sense.

Every indication so far is that you will be able so select your own times. You just have to start with a preselected grouping, then adjust. Now, whether this is obvious at first glance remains to be seen.

I'm betting the pre-selected times will not be spread out over the entire day, maybe the three rides over a four-hour timespan, giving plenty of time to hop later (and spend money eating and shopping in between rides). Just a guess!

May not be a big deal but this, at least, is inaccurate. My reservation for the Wishes Dessert Party shows in MDE.

About the park hoppers, most people don't research like we do. A lot of people won't know to book FP+ 60 days in advance, or go to rope drop, or book 180 ADR's so they will continue to buy park hoppers because Disney tells them it is a great idea. It always sounds like a great idea until I get there and realize I don't like taking the time to travel back and forth. Yet, I always get the park hopper option, just in case. What I am trying to say is that it is easy money for Disney to still offer it even though we may not need it. It always works out to their favor with my family. We get it and rarely use it.
