MyMagic+ executive gone, now Disney needs to remove certain fast passes

I read this stuff and wonder if the people complaining are the same people I would see hitting the button on the back of the FP- machines to get their FP instead of using their KTTW cards like the common folk.

How is a guy named Brian Martin and the projections from his group a legitimate source. He is basing gate numbers on hotel bookings?

You are more than welcome to use google yourself to find further sources. Your sources for your claims are nothing. So I don't feel much urge to put more effort into this than I already have. Final numbers will come out in June.

You know what is so nice to see? The happy positive people on the DIS having no issues calling someone an idiot or crazy. Glad to see the negativity is finally being kept off these boards! ;)

That's a 25% increase in spending.

Just being serious here, if you do that, the Disney execs will be more than happy with that. And if it was/is the case and all individuals did pay the extra dollar, the exec that was supposedly fired would have been promoted. 25% incease in Revenue in the business world for a Comapany the size of Disney Parks would be mind numbing. We are not talking a Mom and Pop store that when it sale 10 gadgets a year at ten dolllars each and then sales 20 the next year claims a 100% revenue increase. High single digits (anything above 5%) leaves Disney execs getting huge bonuses.

And I suppose people wouldn't have been willing to pay that without the RFID shield around them.

Believe it or not there is some spending psychology working here. Due to the fact it is a quick swipe of the wrist vs sliding a card or god forbid actual green money then yes people will buy a little more. Credit cards and even debit cars broke that code a long time ago. Get a hundred dollar bill in your pocket and you will naturally resist spending it for little items. Now if it is just a card you will go ahead and buy that 3 dollar gadget. I could go farther here but this is not a politcal page so I will avoid the subject.

I don't really understand the tone in the OP's posts but I do understand the point to a degree. Having fast pass at attractions like HM, IASW, and POTC isnt bad in and of itself. But in order to justify the fast pass for these attractions, Disney had to fabricate long lines that would not normally exist. They did this by choosing attractions that already had 2 loading lines and converted one of those lines to fast pass. It's especially bad at POTC. Last summer we had to wait in a 35 minute queue that wound around the entire outside mezzanine area while the fast pass line sat almost completely empty. Normally there would be 2 lines actively loading people. POTC would have normally been around a 10 minute wait at that time. One of the things I always loved about POTC was that you could immediately get out of the oppressive Florida heat and enter the dark, air conditioned queue. Now we are stuck sweltering int the queue outside before entering the "fortress". To make it even worse the side Disney chose to make the stand by line you cannot see the 2 dead pirates playing chess! I love those skeletons!

I agree about queue management in terms of space, but the increased wait is due to the tremendous uptick in number of people using fastpasses overall (plus increased crowds). And if you take away FP+ from all those rides that "don't need it" those FP now get used at the rides that do "need it" causing those fastpasses to go even quicker. They've got the right balance for the most part - still tweaking to do but this is here to stay.

I hate to say it, but now that PoTC has split the 2 load zones into one side fastpass and the other side standby, PoTC has become a ride where you want a fastpass now. The standby side usually has a fair wait now, and the fastpass people walk right on. Whereas before, both sides were standby, and everybody had maybe a 15-20 minute wait, unless it was a peak day. So now PoTC has become a must-get-a-fastpass-or-there-might-be-a-long-wait type of ride. Which way is better? I don't know, but it's different.

I agree freediverdude. I actually really like almost everything about fastpass plus and the magic bands. I just think it's an unfortunate by-product of the new system that some historically low wait time attractions are now "book fast pass or suffer long wait times". I really wonder if the entire fast plus plus system hinges on "making" these few attractions fast pass as some are suggesting?

I wish they would eliminate the Tier problem. Allow people to book Tier 1 in the morning and another Tier 1 at night (and so we switch spots, better than waiting 80 min on one or the other, and if you hop, you hop, that's your business. We didn't hop this time.). That would have solved our knock down drag out family drama. We always used to be able to get FP- for RR and for TSMM. This either/or business is HORRIBLE.

Otherwise, we enjoyed the FP reservations and had a lot of fun. Its just that the Tier 1 made for a big problem and I don't see why they can't allow us to use 2 Tier 1s that day. If people missed FPs because they were sold out, then sorry, but that was just oh well. At least we were given a snowball's chance of getting them at all!

Frankly, we are looking to plan a flight out to DLR for fall 2015 and so far I'm delighted to hear that FP+ is not expected to make an appearance by then...

Did anyone see the FP lines? Sometimes they were way way out of the cue. I would definitely say it is strange. Eventually, we all did get checked in and got through the line quicker, but I've never missed paper so much in my life.

FP+ needs to get less technical and complicated. I used to think you could tack on some Land days with a Sea trip and have an awesome trip! For the most part, we did. But there was also some dark moments with some pixie dust really missing. I wouldn't recommend a land and sea trip now, as we just sacrificed too much of the parks when we had to fit them in on the weekends around the cruise and we just couldn't do it all. This compared to last year 2013 when we hopped 4 parks in a day and rode a bunch! We can't even get our rides in on a base day now!

Something definitely has gotten messed up in the change over. I asked a CM at Innoventions what was up with all of these lines, worst than I had seen some even during Thanksgiving week, and he said without missing a beat that it was the FastPass system. He told us that waiting 30+ min for the Thrillz coaster simulator was a really good wait time, so that's what prompted me to ask.

To bad they got rid of the old FP right around my anniversary! I wish I could go back tomorrow, but I won't be going back to WDW for a while. Let them figure this crap out and work some on Avatar. In the meantime, DisneyLand...no FP+....so, what's up...?

Now- on page one everyone was serious.....they were even telling the OP how he should format the letter and giving him certain words to use. Today, after they see how "crazy" it sounds- the OP is "tongue in cheek and just joking now!" Get off of that-----all the folks here can see right though it!!!! I understand though....I would be embarrassed too if I had agreed with him and was helping him with the letter. Do you see that OP....they just played you. :confused3 The same folks that was supporting you yesterday are now laughing at you!! Now- they are saying that everything you wrote is just a joke!!! I hope you see that. Care to clarify??? I for one believe you are for real....there is no other way to read it. I don't believe that you were joking----and I know they weren't joking...they were more serious than you. Ha!!!! :thumbsup2

Not sure if serious......

Some of us could see right through it from the get go. I'm still waiting on my pitchfork pick-up location....:wave2:

I speak for the common folk and the hardcore fans. We will not negotiate with Disney. We fully expect fast pass plus to be removed from certain rides or the we will not attend. Inside numbers show a drop in attendance comparing this spring to 2013.

I'm pretty sure Disney could care less what you think....I could care less thats for sure!

And I would love to know when it somehow became acceptable to call people idiots because they have a different opinion than you?

Pretty sure I don't see the word Idiot in either of the posts you quoted

But since you brought it up, I never said the opinion was different than mine. I do think adding FP to attractions that didn't have it before was not a smart move. I can't wrap my brain around the demands as written out by the OP. Those posts did make me :rotfl2:

Seriously, Disney has no choice but to meet said demands? Really?

Congrats to Disney for hearing us. As many know, Disney continues to shake up management after such a terrible rollout of my MyMagic+. Now with more than 3 fast passes and adjustments for multiple parks, Disney has gone ahead and parted ways with Nick Franklin, the executive vice president for next generation experience at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Disney needs to push forward. Disney needs to continue to weed out the bullish executives that have mishandled the rollout.

But this can wait.

First, we demand that Disney remove fast passes from attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and Spaceship Earth. There is absolutely zero good reasons to have fast passes for these rides. The employee(s) that suggested fast passes for these rides and the employee(s) that accepted this suggestion should be let go. Primitive research has found that fast passes for these rides has caused great fallout. We will no longer accept the fallout of these bad decisions. Within three months I fully expect fast pass removal from these types of rides.

Listening to insiders, I also expect a continued shakeup within Disney going as high as the CEO (retiring soon anyways). With the enormous backlash from a poorly managed mymagic+ to Universal attempting to be a true rival for marketshare, Disney executives are awake and highly concerned. They can continue the repair by removing fast passes from attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and Spaceship Earth.

My friend, you need a dole whip.

You in no way speak for me. I'm fine with having an opinion, but you sound like Bane telling the people of Gotham the city is theirs for the taking! ;P Here's a Bane quote from Dark Knight Rises, just replace "Gotham" with "Disney"..."We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you... the people. Gotham is yours. None shall interfere. Do as you please. Start by storming Blackgate, and freeing the oppressed! Step forward those who would serve. For an army will be raised. The powerful will be ripped from their decadent nests, and cast out into the cold world that we know and endure. Courts will be convened. Spoils will be enjoyed. Blood will be shed. The police will survive, as they learn to serve true justice. This great city... it will endure. Gotham will survive!" :rotfl:

If you don't like things...don't go. But please don't issue some manifesto and say it speaks for the collective. Like you have a clue how everyone feels or thinks about it.

I had a great first experience with MyMagic+ and Fastpass+ during my last visit to Magic Kingdom. I was nervous about it going in, but both my wife and I called it the best time we've ever had at the park. We got in multiple rides on favorites...using both FP and standby lines. With an insanely large crowd that day no less.

As far as standby lines...I never felt I was in a line longer than tolerable. It forced me to slow down and take in the experience, talking, just enjoying being there, instead of rushing to this or that. Knowing I had FPs for my favorites let me absolutely relax and be okay with a wait. And the ability to change and control my FPs without running around...omg, fantastic.

So if you're raising an army, I'll be on the other side defending the gates! :)
