All together we made $317.50, which I consider pretty good for 2 half days of work.

Yesterday it rained off and on all day, so we spent the day covering and uncovering two tables and moved the rest of it into my 1-car garage. I took less that I was orignally asking for a couple big baby items, but they're gone, so that's all I cared about.

Good luck to all!

Steph

Congrats, Steph! I bet you're glad it's over - I'm still sorting through closets, etc. getting ready for ours in a few weeks- I hate this part!!

I had one in the rain last weekend. We also spent our time covering and uncovering stuff. We made about $350 which isn't bad considering that we sold clothes and shoes for 50 cents. Mainly just wanted to be rid of stuff.

Over $300 and it rained, that's pretty good! I'm also getting ready for mine almost three weeks from now--I don't think my garage/driveway/yard/neighborhood/the world is big enough for all my stuff!:teeth:

Thanks for posting! I had considered having a yard sale this weekend, but decided to put it off until fall (a lot of people leave for the summer once the spring college semester is over, and it just ended last week-graduation today).

So I have 4 months to get all my junk together--of course, I'm sure I'll wait until right before the sale  .

we had a garage sale this weekend also.....it rained and we did not advertise except in the newspaper.
we made about $20.00  but we are going to keep that stuff packed seperate and " add" to it and try again in summer ( DH and I believe it was just to early in the season for a WI garage sale.

We had a one-day only sale today! All together my two sisters and I made about $350..$104 of it was mine to put in the "Disney box"!

Congratulations to you!!! I really need to pull some stuff together and have a yard sale!!! In the past, right after my yard sale I have converted all the money to Disney Dollars!!! It is exactly what I plan to do this time as well!!!

great job. I am thinking about having one in the next 2 weeks, hate the getting the stuff ready thing, but have to do it. Question or you all is kids clothes, do you put just summer stuff out and how much do you charge for the clothes. Size 8 - 10 boys, like sweat pants and tee shirts? Thanks for you help!!

Put all your clothes out, not just summer, seems people buy for the next year. A lady with a 9 mo old bought all the way up to 3T's at mine last year. I price .50 - 1.00 for sweats. Jeans up to 3.00-5.00 (name brand). All worn or questionable looking stuff goes in the Goodwill or rag bag. People have commented more than once what a clean sale I have, I also have a lot of repeat customers since I do them yearly now. I skipped 2 years and had enough for 5 garages!!!

My dd and her friend were bored yesterday and decided to have a garage sale. They are only 8 and 9 so this was a big deal for them. My daughter put out old books (50 cents for one, $1.00 for 3) and happy meal toys in a bin (10 cents each, 12 for $1.00). Her friend put out old toys (50 cents each). Well, after 4 hours my daughter made $13.00 and her friend $2.00. They packed everything up and will pull it out next weekend. I told them I would make signs for the corners so more people would come. They were very happy and can't wait for next weekend. Everytime a car drove by they would pop up holding signs and yelling "Toys, Books for Sale!" Too cute!

i am thinking about a yard sale soon and would like to know how do you do the clothes so that they sell do you hang them up our lay them out by sizes? we have aton of clothes to sell i kept the name brands and good stuff to put on ebay .... any pointers on other things would be nice

Try to hang the nicer outfits if possible. (I use my flag pole between 2 ladders). I spent hours organizing by sizes etc and they were in one large pile within an hour (I even had them on different tables). Now I try and just put all the shorts, pants, tops, etc in there own pile. Don't waste too muh time on organizing, if it's anything like around here the first 3 hours on Thursdays are a real zoo so it won't stay that way for long.

thanks ceecee great ideas, not just have to organize and tag everything.

I sold LOTS of baby clothes last year. I put them on tables by size. People really appreciated that. We sold ours 5 items for $1. The nicer "outfits" I sold for more and set aside. I just wanted them gone. I had a few maternity things that I hung up on the ladder.

As for tagging everything, I don't. I'm a big believer in just writing up a sign - $1 on this table, $.50/ea this box, etc. I do tag the big items and I usually use a large sign for them as well.

No sale for us this year. :( In our old neighborhood, we had a street sale every year. I never made a lot of money but with 6 or 7 other houses having sales I got a lot of customers.

My boys had a lemonade/pop stand the last 2 years. People would buy just because they were so cute. ;)
