When I dropped off the girls this morning, spanky was laying on the living room floor. He was laying wiht his back feet to one side, but sort of sitting on his front feet if that makes any sense. He tried to stand him up to show me what he was doing- he doesnt bear any weight, and falls to one side. Well, doesnt fall becuase he would never let him fall, but the cat was leaning.
My X got him in 1987, and is a huge animal lover. I asked him if he had tried to put him on his bed, so the dog doenst walk all over him...when he did that Spanky just meowed a weak meow. My girls are besides themselves right now.
My cat, was at the vet's on Friday, she's 15, and has a thyroid issue. We've been grappling this weekend with what to do, and now this with Spanky, another of their pets.
I had taken Spank to the vets for him about 2 months ago, to find out he's basically blind, but otherwise healthy for a cat that's 18. His teeth looked good, he ate drank, etc...
We made the decision then, that as long as he wasnt in pain, and seemed healthy, we would not put him down due to his blindness. Spank on his own, stopped going outside, and became an indoor cat shortly before this vet trip.
I called tonight at 830 to see how Spanky was, and DD9 said Grammy had come over and picked him up because he was just meowing up a storm and daddy was crying.
I talked to him, and he said his mom had called the vets, and they said to bring him in first thing- at 7 when they open and they will euthenize him. My kids and their dad are just so saddened by this, while I'm feeling guilty that I am glad I'm not there....
I guess this means we'll be fighting with boots for the rest of her life for the pills, because i certainly can not have 2 of their cats put down right after one another...
Pixie dust for my girls and their dad please.....tomorrows going to suck for him
