Day 8 7/27 - Tuesday

My daughter & I were pretty sad to be leaving. Because our car wasn't picking us up until 4:00pm, the 6 of us ended up going to The Marketplace to do a bit of shopping to pass the time.

I went down to the front desk to get a final copy of my folio & was in shock to see that I was only charged the $10 per night "Resort Fee" for 1 room......I was pretty happy about that because I saved $70.

We had Breakfast at Cape May which was wonderful as always. The only problem was that my sister was back in her terrible mood. It turned out that she gave her breakfast vouchers to her friends from South Florida & didn't want to pay for breakfast. She said that the buffet didn't have enough food & she had a bad stomach ache...

Regardless.....the rest of us loved it & stuffed ourselves silly. We took the bus from the Beach Club to the Marketplace & my DD & I went off on our own. We bought gifts for my hubby & our pets & eventually met up with Mom, Dad, Sister & Niece.

We arrived back at the Dolphin at 3:00....just in time for another big storm......Our car was there precisely at 4:00 to pick us up & we made our way through the rain to the airport.

All in all, it was a wonderful trip for my daughter & I. We knew there was a slight possibility of my sister having an attitude, so we went with the mind set that we were going to enjoy ourselves, which we did.

My mom & dad ended up purchasing a house 30 minutes away from Orlando & will be closing on it the first week in September. They both said that they'll never go on another vacation with my sister again.......

My investment in Disney pins was well worth it because it brought my shy daughter out of her shell a bit.....she talked to alot of CM's.

Please don't heaitate to ask any questions that you may have.....

Sorry you had to deal with your sister this trip - I don't know your family or her situation, but sounds like she needs a wakeup call/kick in the rear. Sounds like a lot of self-pity and selfishness going on with her over the situation you said she is going through in your earlier reports. It's especially sad that she couldn't be more upbeat for the sake of your niece.

Hope you had a good time - always remember the positives and let the negatives sink back into the subconcious.

I could be petty and say that I can tell why your sister is getting a divorce, but I'm not like that, so I won't. :p Isn't it interesting that your daughter is like you and enjoys life, and your niece is like her mother? Loved your reports, but I'd like to kick your sister to the curb!

Well....I guess this is one of those live & learn experiences. My sister's soon to be ex is almost sub-human, I'm assuming that's why the way she is......He's put her through hell & back.

When we all decided to go on the trip....we all thought it would be a perfect opportunity for her to get away & concentrate on some fun, for a change. it was supposed to be a bonding time with her daughter. She was really looking forward to it.

It's kind of a wacky situation.....it's a "whatever little Sally wants, is what we have to do" type of attitude. She gives in to everything that her daughter wants & when things don't go that way, it's not a pretty situation. It drives me crazy!

One of these days, they'll have a wake-up call & both my sister & niece will realize that my niece is not the center of the universe.........

All of the bad is now almost behind us......We had a great time & that's the important.......
:sunny:

I really enjoyed your trip reports. We did a "family trip" in June and my niece cried on every ride/attraction that was indoors. My DH thinks she did it for attention. EPCOT is my family's favorite park. One one trip, we had a 5-day pass and went to EPCOT at some point every day.

I really enjoyed your entire report! I love that you had the magical time and you were able to get a free Illuminations cruise - you sure did deserve it! You seem to have kept a wonderfully positive frame of mind even when others around you were not even trying to have very much fun!

Your experience with your Sister and Niece is actually a good thing for me to read - we had been planning a Magical Gathering for Dec, unfortunately it had to be cancelled due to my SIL. As I kept reading your report, I was thinking 'that could have been us in Dec' - your sister and my SIL sound very alike unfortunately.

Thanks for posting!

Well, glad to know that you and DD had a great trip in spite of your sister! Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us. And congrats on the free cruise:)

Thanks for your report, it made me a little nervous as I am leaving soon for a trip with my sister. LOL

I'm glad you and your dd had such a great trip despite your sisters negative attitude. What a waste for her and your neice.

We also totally love Jeff! He is the best.

My Mom is still talking about what a "little cutie" Captain Jeff is. It seems like every trip to WDW we come across 1 or 2 CM's who are "letter worthy" & he was definately one this time.

So, Saturday, I wrote WDW about how Fabulous he was......not for the freebie, just because he has such an amazing attitude & cares so much about the guest's experience.

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time with your sister!!!!!

thanks for posting - sorry that your sister and niece put a damper on things but it still sounds like you made the best out of things and had a fabulous trip!

Tink10 -

We had a similar experience last summer with DB (in divorce) and neices, with youngest acting like yours. We rescued the two oldest and they told us they did more and had more fun 4 hours with us than the had the 3 days before we joined them.

I guess extended family and WDW don't always go.

Anyway, you got great memories with your DD and a free trip with Captain Jeff !!!!!!
