2 days ago, I decided to take the boys to WDW in Dec. after checking their school calendar and seeing that the first week of their Winter break falls in Choice Season.

Now I have too many choices!

We have never been during the Holiday Season, so I am excited about that!

I have a studio @ BCV reserved for 8 nights Dec. 16-24th. I waitlisted for VWL studio, and BWV Stan. view studio and 1 bdr.

Thanks to Tagrel's Point Comparison Table, It was easy to look at the points for all DVC's and villa types.

Today my waitlist for VWL studio came thru and I have until cob today to decide to cancel my BCV and go with VWL as I am out of points (how did that happen? LOL) for the year and had to borrow 39 pts from next year.

I've heard how beautiful the VWL is during the Holiday season, but will I miss the BCV's, SAB and the Friendship boats?

We will do MVMCP on the 17th, but really plan on taking it easy and just enjoying the resort and activities.

I plan on having a rental car, so parking is a concern too.

I'd LIKE to have a 1 bdrm. so we could do a small tree and have an extra TV but that would only be if we could get the BWV for 192 points. Im hoping it will be warm enough to swim (will it?) so the OKW pool rehab is stopping me from booking there.

I can still use the borrowed points on our OCT. trip so if the BWV studio comes thru I wont be stuck with extra points.

Oh! and I prefer not to move although that would be a good solution.

Any experience with Holiday stays at WDW will be much appreciated!!

Thanks!

Pack swim suits and parkas. One year it will be warm enough to swim. The next year the highs will be in the 30s and SAB will be uninhabitable.

If you're torn between resorts, then you might want to choose by park instead. Which park do you want easiest access to? MK would lead you to VWL, but Epcot or MGM would lead you to BCV.

At that time of year, you never know how the swimming weather will be. We took our grandson last year around that time and of course he loved swimming in the pool, but we found the air temperature a bit nippy for swimming. My personal preference would be to go for VWL, since it's a great place to be at Christmas time. You can always book BCV during the "swimming" months on your next trip. Have a great time!

Last year we did both the BCV and VWL. We stayed Christmas week at the VWL and then moved to the BCV for New Year's week. We had a great time at both places but I have to say that the VWL at Christmas time is special. The theming just goes so well with the holidays. And if you are going to MVMCP, you are close by the MK.

Christmas week was on the cool side last year so we ended up not swimming much when we were at the VWL. Once we got to the BCV we went swimming more but at the quiet pool because the heater at SAB was broken. I guess my point is that you never know what's going to happen. We had great swimming weather but the pool was freezing.

I find parking much easier at the BCV because of the location of the self parking lot. It's easier to valet park at the VWL.

Have fun planning.

Hands down, take VWL. It is the best resort at Christmas IMHO. And if you are going to spend a lot of time at the resort, there is so much to do. We were there the 1st week of Dec. last year and we loved it. Enjoy your trip!

Actually it doesn't even take years...such fluctuations can happen in just a couple of days!

In January '03, we left our house for WDW on Friday night (driving.) That day central Florida was experiencing near record lows--if memory serves, the high temp for the day was 45 degrees!!!

By the time we arrived at MGM on Sunday, it was sunny and 70. For the next week it got into the 70s every day and we spent most of our days in shorts.

I totally agree with your advice--take a little bit of everything from your closet. No sense paying Disney prices to winterize (hats, gloves, coats) your entire family because you wanted to save a little space in the suitcase.

We've had the same experience with December weather. It's very unpredictable. We would usually leave our heavy winter jackets in our car and only take sweat shirts with us on the plane. One year it was so cold that we ended up buying more sweat shirts so we could double them up and bought gloves at MGM. We were all bundled up drinking hot chocolate enjoying the Osborne Lights. Later in the week it was warm enough to swim. Good luck with your decision.
