I am a local who heads to DLR pretty often, but because of that I have never done the park two days in a row. I have gotten close but never have done it so this trip was a fun new experience for me (it also explained why all of you keep complaining about your feet
)
I got in on Thursday and tried to first check into my room but found it wasn't ready. So headed over to the parks. I wanted to buy a certain NBC hat but no luck in any of the shops I checked
So by 1:30 I was inside DCA and checking out the shops before heading over to see what the Food and Wine Festival had to offer.
I have done the F&W at Epcot once last October but this was the first year for DCA to offer the event on weekdays. I could go because of working the Renaissance Faire on the same weekends as the event. So I was extra excited to have this event line up with the Disladies trip and with so many weekday options. I just love Wine!
The first thing I did was try one of the food offerings Mushroom Risotto it was vegetarian and super yummy! Then I went to the Rudd Winery Wine Seminar, the wine was good and the guy was ok who gave the class. I had time between the next seminar to head over to the upstairs patio of the Vineyard room (normally its a wine bar for when you wait to be seated) to the Sparkling Bar. There I ordered a Flight of XYZ Zin's. It was only ok and I wish I had done the Cabernet Flight, but it was still good. The I went to the "Herb Garden" seminar.
I tried to ask before I went to the food demo if the offerings were vegetarian and no one could answer me. When the chef began to explain the dish I thought with CousCous (other part was chicken) half of the demo at least would be veggy so I stayed. Sadly he put chicken stock into the couscous. I was polite and stayed through the class, but was disappointed. There is so little taste difference between Veggie and Chicken stock I wish they had switched that in case they had any vegetarians in the audience or have told us before the seminar that it was not a vegetarian seminar. But the CM's outside the seminar were very nice and apologized and gave me a sample of Mushroom Risotto.
Next I headed over to the last alcoholic seminar of the day the Don Julio Tequilla Seminar. This was a really good seminar. I learned a lot about tequilla, which I enjoyed and the tequilla shots were good! Since I still had a lot of time to kill. I saw part of the Pixar Parade while trying the Hummus. It was TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! It probably was good at noon but since I was eating this food that had probably been prepared hours earlier it was a bit rough. The veggies had wilted, the cracker was mushy and the hummus was dry on top. Not good at all. I decided I needed a little dessert while I killed time before meeting with the ladies so I had a glass of Moscato from the Wine Bar, said "HI" to my favorite CM's and called home.
After some wine I headed over to meet the ladies for dinner at Jazz Kitchen. But got distracted first by the hat that I wanted, which was on display in the World of Disney Shop window. Sadly they wouldn't sell it to me so I walked away still with no hat
. Then as I was just outside Jazz Kitchen when I ran into friends who I found out were having dinner upstairs. I chatted with them and then headed into the restaurant.
I ended up sitting with some great gals, many of them Hyenas and ironically many of them were in my VIP tour group. Dinner was fun! We chatted, ate good food, watched the Banana Foster's fun and then dinner was over. Some went back to the hotel but Mary Jo, Lynn and I headed over to the parks. We ran into Melody as we headed into the parks, and she joined us.
Mary Jo and Lynn were on their scooters (Lynn is a wild woman on that thing!!!!) we hit Big Thunder (we found out Mary Jo hadn't do that in years!), POTC and HM (where we heard the horse neigh up front!). At that point the park was closing so we headed out of the parks, meeting with other Disladies. Since I was in Mickey and Friends I waved goodbye and headed to my hotel!
