Geez....after all my "must have" items were packed in the box.....I put it on the scale to a whopping 52 pds.

The poor UPS man....I told DH we should repack it in 2 boxes....he says it's a no go....it's packed and going.
I hope it gets there OK....I'm scared to see how much this is going to cost....I can see an owners locker coming my way:rolleyes1

Do you think my hefty box will make it safely.....or is the UPS man going to kick it down the ramp cause it's so heavy:headache:
Thanks:goodvibes

I did a sample quote online for our boxes that went of us on our spring trip, and found that Fedex beat UPS pricewise by about $20. I love UPS and use them regularly, but $20 is $20. Check them both out to see which works out better. And yes, you should also sign up for OL... leave the stuff there and stop the shipping.

Care to tell us what's in that box? :)

I wouldn't stress about it getting damaged due to the driver being miffed. If you think about it, heavier items require a 2-wheel dolly to move them around and the driver would not bother to lift it and toss it if it were that heavy.

What on earth could you possible "need" that would require 52 lbs?? That's a lot of sunscreen!!

DD lives on Chef boy r dee:headache: So there is a bunch of those.
2 packs of pears in a cup.
cookies, nuts, trail mix, coffee,

Cranberry, pineapple and the ahem....mixer;)

blanket, airmattress, shampoo, conditioner, brushes sunscreen, a small fan.....

ya know the must have stuff:headache:
DH says they have this thing in Florida called......stores:lmao:

I'd venture to say you could have bought the food there for what it cost to ship it down....even at the resort itself. The shampoo/conditioner and air mattress....take those in an extra suitcase.

it would have been much cheaper to cab it to a local grocery store....NOT Goodings at Crossroads....than it is to buy it in New York and pay 100 bucks to ship it down there......

what's with the fan? the rooms are kept at like 65 degrees?

that's what i was wondering....

by chance...do you leave anything at home when you go on vacation?

:lmao: A couple of things:cool2:

I like the room cold...DH dosen't. It helps keep the peace....when I get a hot flash.....I can just stand in front of it. For some reason I am very warm in the mornings:confused3

OMG.....DH just shipped it....My scale must have been off....it was under 50pds. It only cost 35 bucks...I thought for sure it would have been more than 50.
Kerri

You are shipping canned food?

There are grocery stores that deliver to the resorts - you can have your order waiting at bell services when you arrive. Gardengrocer is the one we use but there some others I think. The prices really aren't that bad, definately cheaper than buying on property and a much better selection to boot.

The drinks are huge for us. It is so nice having water and juice and gatorade aplenty without having to pay Disney prices. You can even bring em to the parks.

UPS should be about $33 and Fedex $23. Include your name, resort address, and your arrival date. Your package will be shipped to a warehouse and brought to your resort on your arrival date or when you call for delivery.

Now a days the extra suitcase is out. The airlines are charging for everything!

If you'll be returning, perhaps you should look into Owner's Locker.

The box we shipped down was about that weight too. We only travel with a carry-on so we can avoid baggage claim and the possibility of losing luggage. It's nice to just bypass the whole thing and head straight to DME or the Hyatt.
For our family of four we ship clothes, toilettries, extra shoes, laundry detergent, some food but not much. It never seems like much but it adds up. DH ships it through work so it doesn't really cost us anything plus it's stuff that we wouldn't want to keep in a locker.
This just works well for us.

35 bucks.....you are right:goodvibes Not as bad as I thought.

I know....it is crazy.

Yes....I'll have to see how much stuff will be left. Not sure about my 09 Disney plans yet...although I can't imagine actually missing a year:laughing:

I'm a control freak....I like to know all my stuff and the brands I like will be waiting. I had most of the stuff anyways....so that didn't cost me extra.

I'm leaving in7 days:cool1:  :goodvibes I'm soooo excited:yay:

Actually, since you're shipping food b/c of certainty of the brands etc I wonder if OL would be right for you? Might as well ship everything if you're shipping something since the canned foods are going to be pretty heavy anyway. :confused3

Did you say you were shipping a mixer? I think you can get one at the resort by asking Housekeeping.... :headache:

I use the post office for everything. They have flat rate priority boxes (a couple different sizes) that are a fixed price no matter if your sending 1 lb or 100 lbs. I paid about $12 for the large box and it was 62LBS and took two days:thumbsup2

The owners dosen't seem to work best for me....the food I will use.....and the juices and stuff. Only thing is the airmattress, sheets and blankets...might be just cheaper to bring that everytime...

Well the "mixer" i was referring to was for the juices....ie Vodka;)

Doah:headache: I'm afraid to use anyone but UPS...they always get it there Ok.

I know many people do this, and I am sure I will get flamed for this. But - don't you think Disney will eventually stop allowing this. If everyone shipped a 50 pound box prior to their trip, where would they put all these boxes. They would need additional staff to deliver, and who is responsible for the deliveries. What happens if something is missing?

Everything listed in this instance can be put in a suitcase, or purchased in Florida, it's not like WDW is some deserted island somewhere in the South Pacific. I (and I mean I - this is just my opinion) think its selfish to ask WDW Resorts to be responsible for people belongings even for 1 day let alone 2-3. I can understand a flat envelope delivery or something, but not a huge box.

I will go on to say, during holidays or birthdays that also is a different situation. But for just everyday "stuff" I don't agree with the policy.
