I am interested in getting My Universal Photos (the old Photo Connect) for our upcoming trip but after searching various threads on it, I realized I don't really understand how it works. What is the card they give you - do you present that to photographers and do the pics they take automatically update to your account? Does it include those photos taken while on attractions (think Mummy at full speed somewhere along the track)? Do you have to seek out photographers, are they clearly identified somehow (they wear conical hats or big baggy pants or something like that), or are they stationed at specific points in the parks?

I also read somewhere something about having characters added to photos, which required a stop somewhere in the parks after certain pics are taken - is this accurate? If so, how and where to do that?

Is there a simple step 1, step 2, step 3, etc. guide somewhere to My Universal Photos? I haven't found it yet. Hint, Universal: if you want to sell more of these packages, explain them!

Thanks for any help with this.

I don't think Universal cares much about their photos stuff. It is an outside contractor who does it.

When we used it, we were given a lanyard with a card in it that they scanned just like at WDW. We stopped in at the end of the day to choose our free photo.

You get a lanyard with a barcode card from the desk just inside park gates. This can take some time as there was often a line, or we could not find our photo and they had to search through.

For ride photos, queue up at the counter tell them the photo number and they add it to the account.

For landmarks (Hogwarts, Universal Globe etc) and characters the photographer takes a photo of the barcode and they appear in your account. All the characters had photographers with them and the others were almost as easy to spot as Disney ones.

There is an app https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/amazing-pictures-mobile/id498260199?mt=8 so you can check photos on the account as you go.

I think if you want borders changed etc you will need to visit the desk again, they can also do the two prints included in the package.

This helps a lot - thanks. I am guessing that if I purchase it on line, I'll get some sort of email/coupon that I then will exchange for the card at the parks?
One last question: are the photographer's pics free to download and print at home (or send to a photo printer like Walmart)?

I printed the email and took it into the park. That meant they found my order at the photos desk.

You can then download the photos from the website or app.
