We had a family reunion last weekend. It was great to get together. My grandparents and most of my aunts and uncles are gone. I really just have my mom, and one aunt and uncle left on my side of the family. Well, except for my brother's family and my cousins, but I mean older relatives.

My uncle had bladder cancer a few years ago. The tumor was the size of a grapefruit. He has done well. His wife had colon cancer a couple of years ago. This past weekend, he was having trouble eating anything. Food made him sick. He promised to go to the doctor when he got home. He did and they discovered that he has colon cancer.

He goes back for another test on Tuesday. Then they'll decide how advanced it is and what treatment options are available. He's pretty tough, so he has that in his favor.

He would appreciate positive thoughts and prayers. His name is Ron. Thanks so much. I'm staying positive and very hopeful. I know there is power in prayer.

Good wishes and prayers, Melissa, for your Uncle Ron. He's beat it before, you have too, hoping he has good results again.

Melissa,

My thoughts and prayers are with your uncle!!!

My aunt was also diagnosed three years ago. One year of therapy and she's now cancer free.

Prayers the same results for your uncle. I hope they caught it in time.

God bless,

Robinrs

PRAYERS ARE WITH YOUR FAMILY! MY FATHER HAD COLON CANCER 5YRS AGO, TREATED WITH CHEMO AND IS DOING GREAT! I LOST A MOM TO BREAST CANCER AND UNDERSTAND THE FEAR THAT IS INVOLVED IN A CANCER DIAGNOSIS. HE NEEDS TO KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND KNOW THAT THIS CAN BE BEAT!

My dad had colon cancer 11 years ago. They had to do a colostomy. He is doing great! Did not let it stop him at all. He is 76 and he and my Mom go, go, go! He has been an inspiration to the entire family.

MP, I'll be keeping your Uncle Ron in my thoughts and prayers. :(

 for you. Hang in there!

I'm hoping he'll pull through this alright. I just said a prayer for him.

MP~ I hope he'll get good news at the doctor

 Melissa... more prayers headed towards your uncle

Our prayers are with you and your uncle. We know how hard the waiting is.
My uncle was diagnosed with colon cancer in '95. He went through treatment, and is doing great. He's now been cancer free for 9 years. My grampa was diagnosed in 2000 and hasn't had an issue with colon cancer since.

We finally got the results back from the second round of tests. The cancer has spread to one lung and his liver. Thanks for all the prayers and positive thoughts. We need them!

I probably shouldn't say this, since it won't make you feel better, but when my mom had colon cancer, they actually managed to cure the original source of the cancer in the colon. But, the cancer that had spread to her liver was what killed her.

I will hope that your uncle's situation turns out much better. At the very least, I will hope that you have a good amount of time to enjoy - with the proper treatment, his cancer can be kept from getting any bigger. There are some terrific clinical trials available that may keep the cancer at the size it's at, or even shrink it. Such treatments helped my mom a lot. I'll cross my fingers he gets on a trial and it's successful for him.
