My Ultimate TV box is fried!!!!!! (long ranting post)

Disclamer..... I was rereading this post and thought..... geez..... another one of those "everyone should have my problems" post... We realize how blessed we are........ really........ this is just a rant about the silly changes in life that drive one nuts.

I gotta say, I love my Ultimate TV..... LOVE IT. Cant imagine my life without it.... sad huh.... but with little kids, and a hectic life, there is nothing like Ultimate TV..... I know my fave shows AND more importantly, the kids fave show are availble when we need a House Of Mouse fix or , not when the networks think we should be watching... lol

Heck my addtiction is so bad that I get frustrated when I cant rewind the car radio because I missed a funny quip of Steve Dahl's......

Welp..... my main RCA box is fried..... Poof..... blew up...... Now some of you may know this already, but they are not making Ultimate TV boxes anymore...... UTV will continue to provide programming and support, until all other boxes blow up like mine did, but you cant buy a new box, they dont make them anymore, they are phasing out Ultimate TV.

I really really toyed with the idea of procuring a new box off of EBay, but then decided to get TiVo....... same thing right??

Wrong! Even though you can now record two shows at the same time with TiVo (us Ultimate TV folks have been doing that all along!), it is clumsy user interface. My first impression is the TiVo interface is that it sucks compared with Ultimate TV.

I suppose I could read the manual....... didnt need to do that with the old system.... Is there a One Touch Record option????

I hate change!!!!!

Any other TiVo/Ultimate TV junkies out there???

Well, I have never used an UTV, so I can't help you there. I do have a TiVo, which I LOVE. It sounds to me like you will have to adjust to the new user interface, but I'm sure once you get the hang of it, it'll be easy for you. Have you tried the Season Pass feature yet? It's one of my favorite TiVo features--it records every episode of your favorite shows (you can have a bunch of Season Passes--I think I have 14, LOL!). Give TiVo a chance--I hope you'll love it like me.

My brother taught me how to hate TIVO while visiting him last month. For a week and a half all DD and I watched were episode after episode of JAG. Brother's choice not ours!

No wonder it failed.

We have a sonicblue which is a different brand of the same thing but has some better features. Best buy has both so you can compare

We love our UltimateTV - they're phasing it out?!? Is this some sort of terrible joke? We got it instead of Tivo because at the time you couldn't record 2 programs with Tivo.

Two weeks ago we had a power outtage that caused problems with our UTV box, and the support tech. was going to send us a new box in its place. He made no mention of phasing out and was happy to offer a replacement box. Why the conflicting info?
