My two cents on staying at YC vs Poly

We broke with tradition and stayed at YC this time instead of our beloved Poly. We all were super excited to walk to Epcot every night and enjoy the amazing pool. We splurged a bit and got a water view room that though it was far from the lobby had a great balcony and view. Loved having wine on it in the evening before dinner.
The pool was huge! In my opinion too big. We kept loosing the kids and spent a good deal of our time running all around trying to locate kids! I did notice families with young kids really enjoying the sandy pool area. I personally was just frustrated most of the time and not relaxing.
All in all the YC was lovely very well maintained with amazing new beds! We did enjoy walking to Epcot at night and going straight into the lands.
That being said, I will go back to Poly from now on. I really missed the convenience of a quick boat ride to MK and the ease of the monorail right there. Poly isn’t as polished but it’s still my favorite!

I also agree. We really liked the YC and we actually loved SAB. However, we LOVE the Poly. I would stay at either, and if we had special events at Epcot or DHS would even choose it, but we just feel right at the Poly and the MK resort area in general.

The pool situation was a Blessing and a Curse for us, and if I had kids who needed to be in eyesight at all times I would not choose it again. My DGD was a strong swimmer, however the way that pool is configured it took two of us to keep eyes on her at all times. One across the "street" for the slide, and one in the main pool area. Add in all the twists and turns and I was a mess. She had a blast. My DH and I did not.

My favorite stay is always at the BC. Access to Epcot, teh lovely view of the boardwalk, proximity to DHS, all awesome. That pool? Not so much. For that, given a choice between the Poly and the YC/BC, I would pick the Poly every time.

We've stayed at Poly twice and YC only once. DH and I do not have kids so the size of the pool was not an issue. I have a hard time picking one out of the two. They are very different resorts but so amazing.

We are having a pre-cruise stay at the Beach Club in a few weeks. Can't wait.

We've stayed multiple times at both BC/YC and Poly and your assessment is spot-on. If you have kids, the BC/YC pool is a lot of work! I don't like that you have to leave the pool area to get to the slide and I don't like that that walkway is public and anyone can be on it. It's also super busy, so keeping an eye out is pretty tough. Our next trip to YC is in a week, and thankfully, my kids are now old enough that they don't need us watching them. But, we do remember when they were 2 and 4 and it was super tough.

I will say, that I prefer YC/BC, but that is because as a family as a whole, we prefer DHS/Epcot over MK and that is where we spend most of our days. My kids have felt most of the rides at MK are for little kids and my DH does not like the MK crowds. My DS always asks for Test Track and RnRC and ToT, and even my DD prefers TSMM, Test Track and Soarin and my DH would much rather stroll around the World than battle the crowds around Main Street. So, in a typical 5-day trip, we only go to MK 1 day and, maybe, one evening for fireworks. MK is never more than 30% of our trip, if not less, so the Epcot resorts work best for us since we can walk to both parks. It's so awesome to just be able to walk and not depend on transportation.

We haven't stayed at YC (trying it for the first time in June), but have stayed at BC and Poly and the Poly is my favorite as well. It is nice to be within walking distance to Epcot from BC/YC, but looking out over the lagoon and seeing the castle every day from the Poly is hard to beat, IMO. As far as the pool, we thought SAB was ok, but we weren't wow'd by it and actually prefer the volcano pool (among others) to SAB. I'm glad you had a nice stay and enjoyed the YC. Hope you are able to return to the Poly again soon :goodvibes.

I agree. Strolling into epcot was wonderful but the magic I feel at the Poly and seeing cinderellas castle from the beach, hearing the sounds from the boats and Magic Kingdom, it's a very special feeling.

I agree :cloud9:
