We returned over the weekend from our trip. This was our 2nd time staying at Pop Century. It was just me and the kids this time. We stayed for 8 nights.

Room- I paid for a standard room and put in a request for 60's, building 4. When we checked in I was happy to see we actually got our request! We were building 4, 2nd floor (lake view) room 4239. We checked in at approximately 2pm and our room was ready. The room was very clean and in really great shape! The only thing I noticed was a stain on the floor, that's it. Everything else was sparkling! The beds were very comfy. We were able to occasionally hear toilets flush or water running, but that's no big deal to me. We heard the same thing when we stayed at POFQ.
I had also booked an extra night as room only for the end of our trip. We were able to stay in the same room.

Staff- Everyone we encountered were great! Check in was very fast! The lines moved quickly. They were very helpful at the food court when we had any questions about using the dining plan. Mousekeeping was great! I will say that we noticed we were the only room on our hall that did not have a towel animal placed in the window all week. Not sure why that was, but no big deal. We're hoping the 4th trip will be the charm and the kids will finally get thier first towel animal LOL

Food Court- Always busy it seemed. The food was just okay. It seems like the kids choices weren't that great. The food lines moved quickly, but paying was just awful. It always took forever.

Pool- Since we were by the Hippy Dippy Pool, that's the only one was swam in. It was never really all that crowded. It was a bit hard to find a spot in the shade to sit while the kids swam. They have the tables with the umbrellas, but they are so far back from the pool it was hard to keep a good eye on the kids. I was lucky to find a shadey spot some days.

Buses- The buses were fantastic! There was constantly a bus pulling in to pick people up. Most of the time the longest wait was about 15 minutes and IMO that is not long at all! We had an ADR for Donalds at 8am and we were at the bus stop by 6:50am. A man pulled up that worked for Disney and told all of us the buses for character meals don't start until 7:30am and he was right. The bus did not come until then. We still got there on time, but it was a bit nerve racking.
Coming back from the parks was also great. We never waited more than 10 minutes, and when it was busy they loaded 2 buses at once.
We had one bad experience coming back from MK. It was pouring out and when we got to the bus stop the groups ahead of us decided to make their own line for the bus stop. Well, those of us who know how to line up :thumbsup2 did so correctly. When the bus showed up those people standing outside the line were not happy, they were yelling and just making the biggest scene. I don't understand why they did get in line once they realized they weren't in it. There was one man in particular verbally attacking all of us getting on the bus. He continued once on the bus. I was shocked at his behavior :scared1:

Laundry- The dryers do not seem to be as good as they used to be! I had some undergarments that I washed and it was a very small load. One cycle did not dry them. This happend twice. I would've expected that if they had been shorts or jeans, but not thin items like these. There were always at least 3 or 4 people doing laundry when I went in, but there were plenty of machines.

Check Out- Checking out was a nightmare! I got in line and stood for 30 minutes with only 5 people in front of me. I have no idea why it was taking so long. The line for ME was not much better. Definitely give yourself a couple of hours to do all of this. They were several people missing thier bus times because it was taking so long.

We will be returning to Pop. We've already booked it for next year for the Bounce Back deal.

Thanks for sharing with us and glad you had a great time. We stayed at Pop for the first time this past February. It was great too. We're going back next February also. We now love vacationing in the winter. So much cooler. I'd love to go during this time of the year someday but with state mandatory testing (istep) it's just not possible. We're pushing it to take our DS9 out of school in February. Again, thanks for sharing with us and glad you had a great time.

:thumbsup2 You made me even more excited about ou upcoming trip in Dec. I hope time flies!!!!:yay:

Thanks for the review. I am staying there in April and now I feel better about it.

thanks for the great review, i can't wait to stay there when i go in february!

Thanks for the review! I will be staying there for the first time next month and all of the info is greatly appreciated. How was your room location? I will be with just my DD and we will be using buses only so would like to be near the bus stop if possible. Is it better to face the lake or the pool? I've read here that it is quite noisy in the evenings with people taking late night swims...or is that mostly just the summer months?

Glad to hear such a good review about POP, as we'll be trying it for the first time in NOvember. I have a couple questions, please:

1. What, in your opinion are advantages/disadvantages regarding which floor you are on? I figure that being on ground floor you'll have people walking by your door more, and looking in the windows. They are all outside hallways, correct?

2. What did you mean by people "not lining up properly" for buses?

3. Regarding checkout; don't they have express checkout anymore, to alleviate having to go the desk?

Thanks in advance.

Nice review! We'll be staying at POP next month, and I hope we have as good of an experience as you did.

Any other tips, hints, etc for making the most of your POP stay?

Being on a floor other than the ground floor means people are not constantly passing by your room.

There is a certain line that they should have been standing at but since they made their own line thinking the bus would pick THEM up instead of the people who were waiting they found out they were wrong!!

Yes, I always use express check-out, I can never understand why people would want to go to the front desk and check out.:confused3

We were neighbors I was staying in room 4245 from the 8-15. I had a HappyBirthday sign in my window along with LGMH's.

I will admit it was HARD to get a chair at the pool in the shade.

Really wish I would have booked bounceback but next year we are going to DisneyLand.

Thanks for the review, I can't wait to check in on Thursday!!

Can you tell me what appeared to be the quietest building in POP? I'm trying to find something close to a parking lot and within decent walking distance to the food and playground with low pedestrian traffic. Can you offer any suggestions? Thanks!:)

The room location was great! But you do have to walk a bit to get to the bus stop. I would say it took about 5 minutes. We'd always go through the main building instead of around, it made the walk a lot shorter!
The lake view was very quiet. Next time we've paid for preferred so we're hoping for pool side. We don't mind the noise as we'll probably be out at the pool anyway.

DO NOT get the 80's or 90's building, they are on the other side of the PLANET!!!:scared1:

1. Less people walking by would be the big one.

2. There is an area in front of the line ropes, usually where the people in wheel chairs would go to wait for the bus. That is where they chose to make the line.

3. Well, I did not put my credit card on file, so I had to check out. Express check out was not an option. I also should have had an .85 cent charge for the phone but they didn't make me pay it.

Well dang it...lol...I should've read ahead, you answered all the questions for me :thumbsup2

We've been in the 90's and the 60's and really the difference in walking distance is not that different. I'd say the upper floors are quieter too.

we were in the 50's building 2 almost last room near the lake. OMG that was a far walk. it was quiet second floor but it was a far walk. We had a great view of the other POP that was never finished!

Thanks for the review :thumbsup2

We are heading there in just 14 sleeps :rotfl: , I'm too excited to sleep !
