Lôôking forward to reading about your trip. How was San Diego, and how was LA yesterday?

Good morning everyone. Here are some of my promised photos.

Saturday we went to San Diego. We got to see some great train stations on our trip. This is Union Station in Hollywood.

We made it to the San Diego Zoo. It was a beautiful day at the Zoo but it was a lot of walking.

At the train station in San Diego. The train ride down was very relaxing and at certain points we rode along the ocean. It was great seeing the surfers, we show a group of Woodies, we marveled at the beautiful homes we saw along the way.

The train ride home was longer and the mix of people on the train was different. The subway home was interesting to say the least.

If you are considering the San Diego Zoo I would highly recommend taking the train.

Today is going to be a very interesting day for us on the ABD tour today. I had many misty moments yesterday and I am sure it will be the same today. I will fill you in with pictures from yesterday and today maybe tonight.

I loved the San Diego Zoo but you are right it is HUGE!

Kathy....I just love your pictures!! They are wonderful. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit many train stations on the East Coast and still marvel at the grandeur that each exhibits....it's so great to see a West Coast train station! At the risk of sounding like my dear Grandmother, they really knew how to build 'em!

keep the pics coming! it is so fun to live vicariously through your trip report!

Kathy, thanks for the pics. What train did you take? Amtrak? I have to admit, I grew up in Southern California, and never even *knew* there was a Union Station in Hollywood! It's gorgeous. Going South from LA is a lot more impressive than going North, apparently (at least for part of the way) Until you get North of Ventura, it's all industrial & ugly, and people go "THIS is Southern California??? " (But it *does* get lovely after that).

The San Diego Zoo is one of my favorites! I love the pic of the cheetah sunning itself!

Anywho, glad you had a nice day, looking forward to more pics!

Great pictures! I've always wanted to go to San Diego and to their zoo. Taking a train there makes me want to go even more.
