My tips!

Thanks. I will definitely being doing that then. I had thought of putting the drinks in ziplock bags too. :sunny: :cool1:

We flew when I packed the suitcase full of snacks... didn't attempt the glass jar thing. Have had a cologne bottle and a jelly jar break on me once. The suitcase for the jelly jar was chucked (luckily it was a small one) and the suit case that the cologne broke in was a carry on . It happened on our way home from our honeymoon 14 1/2 years ago and you can still smell the cologne! :rotfl: Now I know when I pack stuff that could leak I pack it in a zip lock. :flower:

Love reading these "tips" threads. Lots of ideas from everyone. I keep a note pad on my desk all the time with things that are good to take and how to prepare and check them off each time I travel.

Cool...................... :love2:

Pack a little one... Kinda silly, but has come in handy several times....

Also, glow necklaces, crack on and throw it in the back window of the rental car. (easy to find it then late at night!).

Since it's been awhile, I went back thru and read all the posts. I can't believe nobody mentioned cereal. We did this last year--worked awesome!! Here goes: we were at Target today. While in the pantry section, I checked to see if they had little cereal cups. They are about the serving size (maybe a bit more) than the small boxes of cereal (like you'd get in a diner). Anyway, they're in a plastic bowl with a pull-foil lid. All you add is milk and a spoon :teeth: ..throw everything away when you're done! We got some muffins/donuts/fruit for the room and bought milk at the gift shop at the resort. Ate in our room every morning and it was cheap!!! A good, filling breakfast that was cheap and time conservative. By the way, these little cereal cups, only $.74 each!!!! (and I've only seen them at Target...not Walmart or grocery stores!)

To avoid the worry of breakage/leakage/crushing, etc. of food items during plane travel and the hassle of another bag to take along at departure time, we instead have packed a carton of non-perishable foods, snacks, etc., along with ponchos and other necessities and shipped it directly to our resort about 5 days before we leave home. Then, at check-in, we have had our carton delivered directly to our room by resort guest services and we are ready to enjoy our vacation! It was not too costly and well worth not having another bag to lug around (especially since we have 4 kiddos!!!). On the day before going home, we use the same carton to pack up our souvenirs and then the front desk handles our shipment of it back home. Last trip, it arrived one day after we got back home! Just a tip we found very helpful! :flower:

I pack every outfit for my kids in individual Ziploc bags. I then pat all the air out. This keeps everything organized and wrinkle free. For my husband and I, I put clothes that I have ironed in plastic dry cleaner bags before I pack them. I don't know how it works, but the clothes are wrinkle free when I unpack them! ::MinnieMo
We've found that if you roll the clothes instead of folding them (before you put them in the ziploc) there aren't any wrinkles at all.

We brought the collapsible tupperware cereal bowls (green) which also come with lids. We used them for cereal in the morning; wash them out with the pre soaped wash cloths then pack grapes and trail mix to take to the parks. Once the snacks were gone simply fold the bowl up and stuff it in your purse or backpack. Also worked well for doling out popcorn while watching Fantasmic! :goodvibes

Just wondering if people staying in concierge pack snacks, etc - this was my plan, but since we ended up booking concierge, wondering why I should bother! I just feel Im paying for that convenience...Also, for those staying concierge, have you just requested items you find you need once there? Just trying to make my stay w/ 2 yo twins EASY!!!

We are traveling w/extended family (12 of us in all...5 kids) and I am definately going to check out the cereal cups/bowls at Target! :flower:

Extras we bring:

nightlight
flashlight (campground movie/marshmallow roast)
hand soap
dish soap (sample size for sippy cups)
bottled water
mini juice boxes
pb & j (plastic jars)
crackers
my homemade 1st aid kit (which includes personal emergency items)
trial size hand sanitizer
disposable toilet seat covers (dd is 3yrs)
trial size laundry detergent (should we need to do laundry :crazy2: while on vacation)
travel hair dryer
dental floss (can't live without it!!)
ribbon (for the rental stroller)
pull ups for nighttime sleeping (if we still need them by Oct) :cheer2:

We are packing lightly on clothing and I DO plan to launder anything that is heavily soiled or that we definately need to wear again. DD3 is easy, she would LIVE in her swimsuit if I let her! :rotfl:

DH and I are only bringing 2 pr. shoes each...shouldn't need more than that (one comfortable and one a little more...ie boat shoes for dh :rolleyes1 )

Did I miss anything HUGELY important when traveling w/daughter?

Was in the grocery store a bit ago... when am I not :rotfl: ....and I picked up a container of the Dawn Wash and Toss Disposable dish Pads with Dawn Dish soap inside. I paid $3.79 and the container comes with 20 pads. They look like they will be perfect for all who bring dish soap for washing out cups and stuff . Also I found today in the H&BA aisle Swab Plus 3-Step 1st Aid Kit. The one I picked up has 2 plastic containers (12 each) of Antiseptic Swabs and Iodine Swabs then 12 bandages were in there as well. You can buy the kit with just the Antiseptic too.... what a great idea that is when packing your first aid kit for your vacation!!!! :flower: Those were $6. It's compact and you don't have to worry about 1st aid cream and all that for a minor cut.

I bought some of this and tried it recently and I love it, it tastes just like reg lemonade and it takes the ick out of the plane water.

These are called "Flat-Out" (3 cups size) If you tell your Tupperware consultant you are looking for collapible cereal bowls they may look at you strange. They are actually made for storage and not as cereal bowls but obviously they work for that too.

Whats so bad about nutasweet?

Some folks have reactions to it though I'd hope they'd have enough common sense to check for it before they bought it in the first place.

Next time you pick up a 'diet something' made with the stuff, you should see the legal disclaimer/warning.

-Joe

Some people have severe reactions to it. Both my daughter and I have reactions severe enough to hospitalize us. It is just a warning for those of us that do. Sometimes when in a hurry people forget to look and check. Done it myself, got it home and realized I goofed and had to return or toss it.
