My tips!

I organize my money into envelopes. I have an envelope for each day expenses & a separate envelope for each character meal including tips. I also have a envelope for expenses for trip home & Kids spending money. Since we have started doing this we always come back with money! and I don't have to think about what we are spending during vacation! I always estimate alittle over what we actually need. I love this board!!!!!!!! :jumping1:

I can't have nutrasweet because it gives me migraines, but I saw that Gatorade mix comes in small envelopes and it does not contain nutrasweet. It is not pre-measured for the water bottles, but I can just tear off the corner of the envelope and pour a little in, then roll the envelope to use the rest later. I also prefer Gatorade to other drinks, because it flavors the water but isn't as sweet as Kool-Aid or Lemonade.

We did the envelope thing for our trip, too! It worked so well for us! Any $$ we had left over from each day, we put into the "souviner" envelope and our last day... we had much more to buy souvies than we had planned! We even came home with $$. Strongly suggest this!

Crystal Light has these little packages made for bottled water. Tiny packages made to turn a bottle of water into Peach Tea or Raspberry Delight or whatever. We love them. Sam's and Walmart have their own version of this as well.

Great Tips!!!

My friends and I go buy tiny squirt guns at wal-mart. (theyre 88 cents for 8). They fit in the palm of your hand.

Trust me, when its hot...not only is it fun, but its refreshing to squirt your friends in the face with these. We are in our 20's and some of our best memories have to do with being on rides. (specifically Jaws at Universal, and the Great movie ride at MGM, the CM's on the rides actually incorporated our squirt guns)

Not to mention we have fun running all over squirting each other. (we try our hardest not to include strangers in the fun ;) )

I imagine this would be a good idea for younger kids, as long as you explain not to squirt people you dont know. But especially waiting in hot lines, its sooooo nice. And much cheaper than the 17 dollar fan sprayers.

PS - they have those fan sprayers at Wal-Mart for 5 bucks. :)

We're all in a volunteer group called the Privateers. So were all obbsessed with Pirates, so sometimes we dress up as pirates (eye patches bandanas etc) and hit the parks. We love the attention and its always so fun to try and stay in character! Especially when riding POTC pirate:

Use Zicam as soon as possible after flying.

We use the Zicam even before we take off and continue it for the next two days. BTW studies show the nose q-tips work best at preventing colds.

I love all the tips!I leave in 5 days w/ 4 kids. One tip I'm going to try is taking a pen light that will hook on their belt loop/fannypack.It should help in dark rides if they get scared.Keep tips coming!! :cool1:

Don't forget to bring fingernail clippers, we had to try to find some for my DH's hangnail and that took a good hour. Tweezers are also a good thing to keep handy in your room.

There are so many great ideas listed. I am making a packing list right now!! ;)

Can't Wait!!! :cool1:

I love this thread -- got a lot of really good ideas that I'm gonna try our upcoming trip (only 21 days from now! )
Here's mine: I bought a HUGE bottle of sunscreen (it's way cheaper that way!!! ;) ) and found some small empty sqeeze bottles at Walmart in the travel-sized toiletries section. I'm planning on filling the small bottles before each day at the parks so we don't have to lug the giant sized botle with us.....

I try to really minimize how much stuff we lug around the parks, mainly because I end up with it all. The one item I was so glad I had was a stupid little pocket notebook. I would put the day's itinerary with PS times, confirmation numbers, a list of attractions we wanted to see, and any other pertinent info in the night before. During the day I would keep a log of everything we did during the day, and everyone's reactions. It also came in handy during the inevitable waits. The kids could play tic-tac-toe, hangman, etc. It was the best 1.79 I ever spent. :wave2:

These tips are great.

mine: my dh always collects change (he never pays the cents with change just collects it all in his pockets all day) so I always bring a container for change in the room and a small soft change purse to carry with me so it doesn't fall all over.

Everybodys tips are great, and some of then we have been doing for years when we travel to the OuterBanks for family vacations.. I will be adding to the list as there are some new ones that are really really great.. We are driving to WDW, just hope I have room for everything but there again there was a tip to mail it down.. So there are tips for everyone.. One tip that I really like because we are going to WDW in July is the personal spray misters but I couldn't find any today at WallyWorld( WalMart).. They said they probably hadn't gotten them in yet, go figure we have snow today who would want to buy these when it's snowing ME ME when I'm planning a trip to Florida even if its' 3 months away..The planning keeps me half sane in this weather...I have read all 9 pages of tips and I want to thank you all for everyone one of them and keep them coming.. Hope everyone is having a great day(even if it's snowing)..I'm not at work anyhow... :thewave: :thewave: :thewave: :thewave:

The Crystal Light packets are great. I just purchased the Walmart brand for our trip to Knoebels. DD loves it and so do I. Haven't found a flavor yet that we didn't like. We now keep some made up in our fridge from the powdered containers. Much cheaper than buying bottled water and tastes better too.

Don't know if these have been posted but I packed my laundry det. in one of the new tupperware collapsable bowls( it can go flat when empty) and I found mosquito wipes at walmart ( are they a problem at WDW) :wave2:

This is a great thread - My DH thinks I am such a compulsive planner, but he is relieved when I have everything with us! We always take a power strip to plug our many items into (videocamera battery charger, fan to drown out night noises, coffeemaker, etc.). The outlets are not always located in a convenient spot. Also, can't live without baby wipes! great for cleaning up sticky faces, hands, or for just cooling off. And hand sanitizer (Purell) for before eating when there's no convenient sink. :hourglass 57days to go!!
