My Thoughts on YOAMD

You can win prizes by sending in post cards. It seems almost all of us who sent in post cards on the DIS, received the ears or the laynard with 2 pins.

Actually it's only a few people that have reported winning lanyards or ears...but the promotion still runs a long time so it's definitely worth buying some postcards to drop in the mail.

I'll have to admit that I'm getting a bit annoyed at the fact that the same people have won three or four times while others have gotten nothing at all. So unfortunately...the mail in entries can be just as disappointing as spending a week at WDW and leaving empty handed. I'm happy for the people that have already received prizes in the mail (so don't get me wrong), just wish things we spread out a bit more evenly.

My kids were not paying attention to this at all - until DH saw the ad. He said at dinner" Hey we are sure to win something we have Mommy with us" Talk about PRESSURE!! Now he says this because I have had wonderful things happen to me in the past. And a disney day for me is always one full of surprises. But now that he said this I am sure he put the big WHAMMIE KABBOSH on me. But win or not- we will have a magical day!:wizard:

You can win prizes by sending in post cards. It seems almost all of us who sent in post cards on the DIS, received the ears or the laynard with 2 pins. I only sent in about 10 post cards since October, so maybe invest $5.00 and go buy some post cards at the post office. Maybe you can win the laynard yet for your next trip or maybe even something bigger.

What is the address for mailing the postcards to?

My sister and I are taking my nieces (11 and 7) to WDW in May. I told my sister not to even tell them about YOMD, but they have seen commercials and the Disney Christmas parade (where they talked about it alot) and the 7 year old got really excited, my sister explained to her that not everyone gets picked, but she is convinced that she will and I worry about her being disappointed, no matter how much we tell her she is lucky just be going to Disney, she's only 7 and LOVES anything and everything Disney so of course she thinks she's going to win something. I'm sort hoping we don't see any Dream Teams at all, I think it'll be worse if someone right in front of us "wins."

We are leaving Thursday for (5) days in the parks. My husband and I have NOT told the girls about YOAMD. I am not expecting anything either. I still just get sooooo excited about going to Disney, that is magical enough for me. My husband nor I were able to go as a child. I am already blessed with just being able to go to Disney, if we win something so be it.:goodvibes

What is the address for mailing the postcards to?

Here's a quote with the address from the YOMD rules for mail-in entry.
Also, starting on September 18, 2006, eligible participants can enter without being present in a Disney Property by writing their full name, complete mailing address (including postal code), daytime telephone number (including area code), and date of birth on a 3.5"x5" postcard and sending it with proper postage affixed to: (i) if a legal resident of the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada or Mexico: P.O. Box 8629, Elmhurst, IL 60126; or (ii) if a legal resident of the United Kingdom: Disney Dream Giveaway, 483 Green Lanes, London N13 4BS. Participants may enter once per day during the Giveaway Period. All mail-in entries must be mailed separately, postmarked by December 31, 2007 and received by January 14, 2008 or they will be void.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

During our last trip, May 2005, my 5 year old DD was "crushed" because she didn't get called upon to ask a question during Turtle Talk.

We explained to her that we don't always get to do everything every single time. Sometimes it's other people's turns and that, instead of feeling sad for ourselves, we should feel happy for them.

The very next day we went to AK and she was picked out of the audience to participate in Festival of the Lion King.

It was a great way to confirm the lesson we tried to teach her.

It's really fun when you get to do something, so remember to be excited for others when it's their turn.

I agree with you about being disappointed about not receiving anything. Thankfully I mentioned nothing to my family just me they didnt even notice just me. We did have some magical things happen though which I learnt about
from this board like waking tink, participating in the lion king.
I say dont say a word to your kids becasue they will be expecting it.
It is sad to see ppl chasing the dream team down or just interacting with them hoping to get something. A few times I noticed ppl saying we want to trade pins and they continued and then the dream team gave them the two tinkerbell pins too.
I say try to make your own special moments lots of ideas on the disboards.

I think of it this way...

This is already the year of a million dreams for me because I actually get to go to Disney. It will be my second trip (the last trip was 11-12 years ago and I don't remember much of it) and it will celebrate my graduation from college. Would I like to win something while there? Yea, who wouldn't? Do I expect it? Heck no, the odds are horrible lol.

Just be happy you get to go to Disney...

Please forgive me for copying and pasting my post from a different thread, but I felt strongly that these thoughts accurately apply to this threat as well. I am just so happy for so many reasons, I want to share it with as many people as possible!

Just had to share, my DD3 woke up this morning smiling and hugging her mommy and her daddy, because she had just had a beautiful dream that she was at WDW! She told us she met Mickey and Minnie, Daisy and Donald, Goofy and "Mickey's little dog, named Pluto". She also met the princesses and the 100 acre wood. She was elated, and I realized that we have already "won" all we could ever wish for, just to get the amazing opportunity to take her to this magical world. And she will experience it all. She has reservations to all of the best character meals and a hair appointment at the BBB before attending the PPP! She's a brilliant child with an unbelievable imagination and beautiful soul, and to bring her to WDW is a dream come true.

Our upcoming trip is so special on so many levels. This will be my DH and DD's first experience, and as for me, I have not been to WDW since 1991, on a limited 3 day trip, never been to AK or even MGM. My parents will be joining us as well, and I realize that I have not been on a REAL vacation with them since 1995! They live many many miles away from us, and do not get to enjoy their only grandchild nearly as much as they wish they could. So their dreams are coming true, to see the World through her eyes.

As for my husband, this trip respresents so much more to him than just a family vacation. This is the start of a major change in his life. For reasons that are too complicated to go into, for the past 10 years, my beautiful, creative and intelligent DH has been "stuck" in retail management. I won't mince words, he has been miserable. The birth of our little girl has given him the courage to fulfill his dream, to be a chef. He wants to be an example to her, that if you have a dream, you have to work to make it come true. So after 10 years of stifling his mind, body and soul, the end of this month he is leaving his management job, and the middle of February he starts culinary school. Between leaving his job and starting school we are going to WDW. As my DH said himself, it could not be a more perfect time to go. After all of these years of stifled imagination and creativity, he will be traveling to a place where imagination knows no boundaries and dreams come true. We are breaking the bank to do the Chef's Table at V&A's, which I predict will be an inspiring and quite emotional evening for us. This trip will rejuvenate his soul, which is my wish beyond all others.

The icing on the cake: Our best friends in the whole world and their son of the same age as our daughter, will be joining us as well, to make it a true magical gathering!

Of course it would be an incredible blessing to win a prize as part of the Year of a Million Dreams, but in all honesty, this trip has been my dream, long before we even had our beautiful little girl. My dream has been to take my family to WDW and experience the magic, and God willing, in 17 days this dream will come true.

Awesome post, JFlo! I predict you'll have a lot of magic on your trip! :wizard:

MY family went on our first trip to disney this past Oct. It was a dream come true for all of us. Dh, me, ds9, dd6, and dd2. I was so worried after all the planning, that it would be a let down. Suprising to all my friends that I was this excited about a disney trip. I was like a 29 year old kid. Anyway back to the YOAMD story.
We were at disney for 9 days. here is what happened:
First day MK first ride for my dh and ds. They were getting off Space Mtn. and got two landyards and pins what a surprise!

Day 3 MK dinner at Liberty Tree got picked to open the restuarant and meet with the characters by ourselves. How Awesome!

DAY 4 asked to sit in the front of monorail. The monorail operator stop the monorail on the way to MK, perfect view of Castle and let daughter and I enjoy the beautiful view.

Day 8 MGM dh, ds, and dd were getting on Tower of Terror and recieved 3 dream passes My husband was thrilled
Went to Little Mermaid and my dd6 was pick to introduce the show and they gave her a special certificate signed by Areil and Prince Eric My daughter thought people were going to ask for her autograph!
Also while we were at MGM the kids got to take part in a hat parade. Lots of great picture. The CM also promised my son a chip and Dale pin if he helped him with the parade.

All these things really made our first trip to Disney special. We felt like magic was all around us. The one thing I worry about is will everybody be disappointed on out next trip if we don't recieve the royal treatment. I'm not sure, but we really did feel special!

Not me! I've sent 200 so far...
