AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!

What a great place to stay. And thanks to this site for pointing me in the right direction. We stayed at the SWAN from 6/27 to 7/3 however I have been doing some business travel since then and have not had the time to sit down and write this out.

First off, we stayed in Room 533. This was on the East side and had a balcony facing the Boardwalk and Epcot off in the distance. I was able to get a great rate and just opted to pay for the better view rather than rely on being upgraded. The view was wonderful but were I to do it again, I might opt for less expensive room. I say this only because we spent so little time in there. Hey, with Disney and the Boardwalk right at your feet, who wants to stay in the room.

The proximity to the Boardwalk is a great selling feature for the Swan. It is really just a few minutes walk over to the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk itself is a great place to keep the activity going after you have left the parks. We ate several times at the ESPN Zone and thought the food and service was great. Having all those TV's around you with sports programs playing is like Christmas Morning for us guys! We even get the TV treatment in the men's room...whether your standing or sitting! I'll move on from here!

The rooms were very clean and the staff was extremely friendly.

What can I say about the beds other than "WOW!

What a nice place to finally put oneself to bed. We would go from 6:30 in the morning till 11pm at night on some nights and the "Heavenly Beds" were truly nice to come home to.

I can't comment on the resturaunts (sp) in the hotel because we only used the lobby bar for a quick breakfast in the AM. I wanted to try Palio's but my Italian Wife was not thrilled with the menu selection. Go figure!

The Grotto Pool was a big hit with the kids (aged 7 and 9). It was also a big hit with me (aged 40!). I've heard several reports on the Swan and Dolphin forum that the pool is too far from the rooms at the Swan. This did not feel that way to me. It took a few minutes to get to the pool but no one ever complained it was too far.

I've also read many threads were people say they don't get that Disney feel when staying there. Again, this was never the case with us. I felt like I was in Mickey's backyard the whole time!

To me, the hotel has so many selling points that I honestly can't see staying anywhere else.

Location....just off the Boardwalk so that you don't get the noise that might come with being on the boardwalk.

Beds......Heavenly.......need I say more.

Pool......awesome!

Proximity to Epcot.....can you say walking distance!

Price.....while I've never stayed at a Disney owned hotel.....it seems that the Swan and Dolphin always offer a better rate.

The best compliment I could have gotten was from my Wife. She has had the luxury of travelling to many parts of the world and the U.S. and has stayed in many a fine hotel. I knew based on reading through these threads that the SWAN would be right up her alley!

It was and now we are already planning our next stay. :bounce:

So glad that you had a wonderful trip! I am a teacher and I have booked the Swan for next February! I can't wait!!
Thanks for the report. I enjoyed reading it!
:D

Welcome back!! I'm glad to hear you had such a great trip, thanks for the review!

I'm so glad you liked the Swan! It is a great location!

Thanks for the report - We stayed at the Dolphin last summer and now we are headed for a Swan stay next week! Can't wait to sleep in those heavenly beds! :)

Great to hear you had a great Swan stay!

I'm so looking forward to our stay in November. We've stayed at the Swan 5 times but not since they've gotten the heavenly beds and I'm so looking forward to trying them out! We kinda got hooked on the Dolphin for a while:p

I also agree with you about the "magic"...it is what you make it! Thanks for posting the positive review!

Thank you!
we are staying there over New Year's this year, because the location is perfect. Glad to hear we made the right choice!

Glad you had a wondeful time!!! That's how we feel about the Swan's other half (Dolphin).......it's such a fantastic place!!! I liked the way you put it.......it's like being in Mickey's backyard. :D

I was also very glad to read your report. We will be there in just a few short weeks and I am soooo exicited! Thanks for posting!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful trip report with us! I feel the exact same way about the Swan. We left the Swan the day after you arrived.

Everything you said rang completely true with our stay, also! *although we did go to Palio, and I have been dreaming about returning ever since* The pool, the beds, the LOCATION! did I mention the beds?

Glad you had a wonderful time!
Debbie

Thanks so much for the positive review!!!

We have a ressie booked at the Swan for Christmas, and I just can't wait to try out those *Heavenly* beds!!! :teeth:

Thanks for the postive post regarding the Swan. We are staying there for the first time in November. This will be our first stay at a 'non' Disney owned hotel and I was a bit hesitant but when I read great things like you have to say, it makes me think that we made the right choice. Glad you had a great trip!

Thanks for all the great info on the Swan. We will be there Aug 3rd to Aug. 11. Our first stay, I found a great rate for Club Level thru DU.

We are really looking forward to our stay, it looks like a very nice resort.

I think enough good things have been said about the Swan, its time to keep quiet. If word gets out everyone and their brother will want to stay there, and where would that leave us "Swan" people? Without a room without a doubt.

So SHHHHHHHH, don't tell anyone else. :smooth: :smooth:

Mrs. A--What kind of rate did you get through DU? I have never used them. What are the advantages? Are you a Starwood member?

Great Review!

We are also staying at the Swan for the first time in November. After reading your review, I can't wait till we arrive. Any resort on the Boardwalk is awesome. We have stayed at the BWI and you're right with all the activities and Epcot and MGM just a short walk/ boatride away....how can you go wrong;) The Swan and Dolphin are in the "Magic" and Mickey's backyard. We are also fortunate to take advantage of the great rates. You can't beat the price...anywhere! Thanks again so much for sharing your review.:D

Sherry8253, it looks like we'll be there at the same time. I hope we bump into each other. Don't forget you're lime green.

swilphil, the rate we got is $198.00 a night including tax. No I'm not a Starwood member. I booked this the beginning of April I was just checking rates on the Swan. I thought it was a good deal, we did have reservations at POR I cancelled them wanted to try something new.

swilphil, sorry I forgot to add, Du will arrange all of your Priorty Seating arrangements. You print it out after everything is confirmed and it also will list the early entry days of the parks, and the parades, when MK has fireworks, the times for Fantasimic.

Everything was booked over the internet and so far there has been no problems, and I don't expect any either.

We will be there soon.:D :D

I have stayed at The Swan 2 Decembers in a row, and I will also be there this coming December. I fell in love with the place and the location.

I am one of those people who thought that the pool seemed very far away.
Of course, maybe the pool seemed so far away was because I prefer to use the pool at night, when my feet and back are weary from walking in the parks all day. LOL

I also felt uncomfortable on my SOLO vacation about walking through the halls and lobby with my bathing suit on, and I'm all alone. So I never actually used the pool.

Which brings me to the question.....Is there a changing room with lockers down at the pool ? I would feel much more comfortable with that.

It's always good for me to hear feedback like that about the Swan/Dolphin. We've had a great relationship with them since the site first opened 6 years ago (hard to believe it has been that long). My family usually stays there when they are in town, and my sister Barbara stayed there for the first time in May. She also has travelled all over the world, and has stayed in some very swanky resorts...she raved about the place (and she hates EVERYTHING :) )

Glad you enjoyed it!!

Pete

Pete -
Are you sure the Swan/Dolphin is only 6 years old? Or did you mean 16? No - I think it was just being built our first visit in 1989, but I know it was there when we stayed at the BC in 1994 and 1996. Or did it change to Starwood six years ago? I'm confused.
