My Thoughts on Hotel Indigo

We usually stay at the Park Vue Inn, and have splurged once for the Disneyland Hotel. We love the PVI because it’s literally steps from the gate, it’s been remodeled, clean and the staff is great. However, they were booked for our trip this weekend. After lots of research, we decided on Hotel Indigo because anything near the PVI was either booked or crazy expensive.

Hotel Indigo is great.... very nice upscale boutique hotel. The bedding is nice, Aveda products in the shower, very nice and upscale modern decor. Free parking. The staff has been incredible. They made sure we had a quiet room that didn’t face Katella, they gave my kids cookies at check in, when we were leaving for the parks the manager came out with complimentary bottles of water, and the restaurant is great. My three year old woke up in the middle of the night with a fever, so being walking distance to Walgreens and the minute clinic at CVS has been helpful. We also like the choice of restaurants nearby at the Garden Walk.

The one thing we miss is being so close to the parks. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the gate. You also walk past a lot of homeless people and people hawking crap on the block between Katella and Disney Way on Harbor. You miss most of that staying at the PVI because it’s so close. We are really spoiled with the PVI and how close it is..... I think if we were wanting additional dining options and to use the pool, Hotel Indigo would be a nicer choice because it’s more upscale, but for pure park trips you just can’t beat the convenience of the Park Vue Inn. However, we would definitely consider staying here again if the PVI was booked or too expensive. I might try Uber instead of walking next time we stay here.

The Hotel Indigo gets very good reviews on this board. Lots of DISers use it as their go-to when visiting DLR. Glad you can confirm the positive feedback and that you had a good stay.

I’m glad you had a positive experience. I stayed here with my kids recently and wasn’t so happy. We found the walls to be paper thin. We were located on the second floor, could literally hear everyone walking by our room. Had to call security 2 times because the people next to us were beyond noisy. Sounded like young adults having a party at 2am, not that that’s the hotel’s fault but even just normal volume talking I could hear. I woke up at 5am from the baby in the room above me crying.

I will also say I definitely prefer a hotel vs a motel and this property seemed to be maybe an old motel or apartments that were converted to a hotel. The room was clean and bed was comfortable though.

For comparison sake we’ve stayed at Homewood Suites several times (the newer one & our preferred hotel), Hilton Convention Center, DoubleTree Suites, and Staybridge Suites (Ball Rd location).

My husband thought the walls were thin as well but I didn’t hear a thing! He always complains about that though and I have no idea why he won’t wear earplugs. We kept trying to decide if it was a new building or converted. The AC confused me.... they obviously took the building to the studs during the conversion, I don’t know why they didn’t update the AC setup. Or add extra insulation to the walls!

But overall we were happy!

Hotel Indigo used to be run down Holiday Inn Express. Stayed there several times when I had a ton off points to burn and all I remember was creaky hallways, crappy plumbing, and razor thin walls. While Hotel Indigo is a much nicer renovation it is still kinda just putting lipstick on a pig IMO.

Hotel Indigo used to be run down Holiday Inn Express. Stayed there several times when I had a ton off points to burn and all I remember was creaky hallways, crappy plumbing, and razor thin walls. While Hotel Indigo is a much nicer renovation it is still kinda just putting lipstick on a pig IMO.

Hotel Indigo is way better than just putting lipstick on a pig But I get what you’re saying.... those first floor rooms are especially a strange set up.

We talked about it again today and PVI is just too close.... unless it’s just more, I think they come out on top. Although my 8 year old disagrees. Ha!

There was a really good deal on Hotel Indigo through Hotwire for the week we are going in February, I think it was a little over $100 a night, I was contemplating it, but we decided to go with The Embassy Suites.

I stayed there a few months back and agree with everything you said BUT they put me on the Katella side and my room was right over that obnoxious dancing waters fountain out front that blasts that awful music every 15 mins or so. So make sure you don’t ever get that room. Also, the walk is really far and I decided to take Uber the next day and they got lost and ended up driving me in circles and I eventually just had to ask to be let out on the curb and walked anyway

That is a bummer.... they originally had us in a room facing Katella and I immediately asked to be moved. The room you had sounds awful. I agree that the walk is far.... all of the hotels on Katella have a far walk, in my opinion. We are spoiled because we are used to staying at the Park Vue Inn or the Disneyland Hotel, which may actually be the same distance but at least you go through security in DtD and have the monorail as an option. But overall we really liked the hotel. I wish DCA had a back entrance for all of those hotels! Ha!
