My thoughts of no Mono after MNSSHP

Show me ONE picture of them doing maintenance on these beams during the extra hours. ONE. Until then, the people saying the maintenance excuse is BS and this is just a cost cutting move are right.

The bottom line is, maintenance is not being done and some people are just being apologists. SHOW ME THE PICTURES!

If it really is a maintenance issue, why not defer to the fall/winter season when the parks close much earlier anyway, rather than almost in the middle of the summer season?

Or purchase one, just one, additional monorail train and rotate others out of service each day for maintenance?

If it was a cost saving measure, certainly it costs more to operate multiple diesel buses, pay multiple drivers, and increase maintenance costs on multiple buses than it does an electric train with one driver?

Unless you really didn't increase transport capacity to replace that lost by closing the monorail?

Who knows what the real reason is. What's important is that Disney's response is stupid. Plain and simple stupid.

They lost $2400 from me when I switched my December reservation from the CR to the CSR, a decision spurred primarily by this monorail issue. If I'm going to pay a premium to stay at a monorail resort, then I expect the monorail to be operating as long as there are other significant things for me to do and get back and forth from.

So they didn't save a dime in that respect.

I agree. They seem to have enough money to do other things like expanding the parks.

They should purchase a new monorail and rotate others out of service to do maintenance.

I also don't see why they just run less monorails instead of shutting down the monorails. It would space the people out and not have everyone going for the ferry.

I think more people will do what you did and go to a moderate resort or stay at the Contemporary when they find out the limited hours the monorail is running now.

I agree. I love the Magic Kingdom. And I love Fantasyland. And I can't WAIT to see the new expansion.

But if the monorail was that bad off, they needed to use those funds to replace this fleet that is apparently limping along to the finish line. If it's the beam, then CLOSE the darn thing and fix it. But I WANT TO SEE PICTURES TOO.

This came too close on the heels of other cost cutting changes for me to blindly accept the maintenance issue. And if it IS maintenance, then SHAME ON THEM for letting it get to this point.

After school starts, it slows down. MK is down to three Main Street Electrical Parades a week, from the FOURTEEN a week in the summer. MK is down to one EMH night a week, from the two a week in the summer.

Do you realize how much money Disney makes in a single hour? I truly don't mean to offend you when I say this, but your $2400 is just a drop in the bucket for them.

It's hooey.

In the summer months, regular park hours go until midnight. According to this new schedule, the monorail will run during those hours. But they can't run for hard ticketed parties?

Worse than hooey. It's hogwash hiding behind safety.

EVERY SINGLE person who pays for party tickets and loses out on monorail access needs to write to Disney about their frustrations on the matter.

Even more importantly, EVERY SINGLE person who PASSES on buying tickets because this is the issue that puts them over the edge and they don't buy tickets this year...... needs to write and tell Disney.

In the summer months, there are thousands more Guests than there are in the fall. They do need all three ferryboats and the monorail running to accommodate everyone.

EVERY SINGLE person that wants to ride the monorail can do so at park open or throughout the day.

EVERY SINGLE person can take the ferryboat or the bus back to the TTC. Not having the monorail at the end of the night shouldn't be a make-it-or-break-it factor for people not attending the Halloween party.

I have personally seen the tractors on the beams many nights. However, unless you'd like me to snap a photo while I'm driving at night, I can't produce a photo.

This is now more then just an issue of people being "too good" for alternative transportation methods to get back to their resort. An hour to get back to the TTC is not acceptable. If Disney can't get people back to their cars more efficiently after hard ticket parties they shouldn't hold parties the nights of the "maintenance" IMO.

Unfortunately, nothing will be done as long as people keep buying those party tickets.

Are you going to fund it?

The maintenance is not just being done on the trains themselves. They're also working on the beams.

There are boats and buses for a reason.

As long as there are buses I'm ok with it. I've just read a lot of reports saying that the Ferry was the ONLY way to get to the TTC after MNSSHP. Trying to get back to the TTC is bad enough when both the monorail and ferry are running. I really don't want to experience trying to get back with JUST the ferry.

If there is a bus, good. I hope there are MULTIPLE buses.

That is a fallacious argument. Of course no individual is going to spend enough to matter. But if enough others do the same thing, Disney WILL care.

You sound like my husband who doesn't like to vote because one vote never matters.

It's a good thing they're not called Monorail Resorts then. They're actually called Deluxe Resorts.

Then it's a good thing too that they don't MARKET them that way.

How can you say what's reasonable for someone to expect when they have just dropped several hundred dollars for a few hours of entertainment? I think every person has to make that determination of value on their own.

Are you going to fund it?

I think there's enough cash being dropped in Fantasyland that fixing this infrastructure problem could have been handled without a cashflow issue.

Yes, it's FAR more entertaining to build something shiny and new. But at our house you have to eat your peas before you get your dessert.

Not everyone believes the "maintenance" story.

Then that is their problem not Disney. I believe it.

And truly if someone does not believe it, then just stay away. I mean good grief there comes a time when if all everyone is going to do is critize them, why would they continue to inflect that pain on themselves by spending money with them.

As I won't be staying at one of the monorail resorts any time soon, this isn't something that'll affect me. That said, I've read so many reports and complaints on these boards alone that there obviously must be some a general issue. And it's obviously something that can't continued to be ignored. Shame on Disney for doing so. I'll be attending the 9/30 party and won't see first hand the crowd problems until then.

For those that are concerned and those that have felt the pain of having to take a ferry after 10:30pm recently, I have two things to say to you. 1st, I hope ALL of you are writing Disney like the OP with your complaints, suggestions and concerns. 2nd, especially for those who have already been there or plan on going soon. I highly suggest you record and post to youtube your experience trying to catch the ferry. If it is as dangerous and concerning as many have said, the videos should speak for itself, as soon as they spread a bit, the PR nightmare for Disney will settle in. Unfortunately, the one thing that can get a Company to act in these situations, is the threat of bad PR.

I hope nothing bad happens while we wait for Disney resolves this issue.

1) People, maintenance is maintenance.
. . . Would you rather be stuck on the monorail in a breakdown?
. . . Would you rather the monorail be down during the day?
. . . Would you rather a major breakdown and 2-3 days down?
2) Let them do the maintenance.
3) There are other ways back to the resort.
4) You are on vacation, so what is the rush? *

* And, no, sleeping/crabby children is not an excuse. If they are
that tired, you should have left hours ago. IMHO

So you really buy into this maintenance story.pixiedust:

So because you believe it, everyone is supposed to? :rotfl:

Believe me Rusty would be the first to call it as it is, he does not ever buy the company line.

If he says it is maintenance then I would believe it.

No, that is not what I said, someone said NO ONE was believeing it and that is not true.

I just think it is foolish for everyone to get so upset. Either you believe them or you don't.

If you don't you can walk with your money elsewhere because beating the same old horse does not get anywhere.

Actually, my exact wording was ~ and I quote
Not everyone believes the "maintenance" story.

So, no, I didn't say "no one".
