Another point i'd like to slide into the conversation is that yes, at one time the Mods on this board were completely active and were TEENS in High School or Juinor High.

As everyone knows, people grow up. I think as a teen board, the moderation should be different than a board such as the CB for this reason. A new set of Teens are coming as the older ones are retiring to the other boards such as the CollegeB or the CB.

At one time this was teen lead, teen read, with a few adults popping in here or there to ensure that everything was running smoothly. I think that the DIS should seriously take into consideration changing the mods every 3-5 years (or as needed), thus ensuring that the board is and will always be teen lead, teen read.

The Teen board is called the Teen board for a reason.

A moderator is a member of the posting community who others feel can take charge and handle a situation, and clean up messes when they arise.

You don't bring in a poster that no one knows to moderate. You bring in a poster that everyone knows, and even if they may not like them, they have faith in them to do a good job.

Thats what a mod is. Its not some random person coming from out of the blue.

I'll go out on a limb that catycatcat4 is concerned with the bashing of Pirates of the Caribbean threads by major posters. I think that being a mod entails some kind of impartiality towards threads. I am sorry for some of the bashing that I did, because some of it was a little harsh, and I think that POTC gets a bad rep, but still, there should have some kind of moderation. You both have valid points, but I agree with Shelby in that a mod should be an active member of the posting community. What we need is an additional one or two mods to assist our excellent, current mods. The people should, IMO, be responsible enough to look at threads without extreme bias.

The POTC threads upset the major community of the TB. I think it would be a good idea to make a sticky thread for the pirate girls, and leave it at that. All pirate related posts are to be made in the sticky.

Come to think of it, having a sticky of the eye candy/pirate thread is a really good idea. That way, new posters could see it before making a new thread about it.

I agree that a POTC thread should be a sticky. I think that POTC is the thing that upset many posters. There's no real problem with them, just the fact that they're taking over and several posters are getting annoyed.
