My third solo trip - it's a quickie!

I'm 37 days away from my third solo trip, and I'm so excited! This trip, my 12th to WDW, is only for 1 day!! One day in Disney? YOU BET! I'll take whatever I can get!

The reason is this - I have an airline credit that expires soon, and I've already booked a trip to Switzerland in January to ski with my girlfriend, SO... we need to save up some money for the big trip. I don't want my airline credit to expire, and it doesn't make sense to go on a big trip before January, so the logical thing is for me to take a quick solo trip to the Magic Kingdom, stay in a value hotel (POP Century - I think it's very cool) and enjoy the trip without spending lots of cash. Genius, huh?

I was actually going to fly in, take a cab to the park, then take a cab back to the airport. But it's less expensive to get a room and use Disney's Magical Express! COOL!

I can't wait - I love the Magic Kingdom! I've chosen a day that has extra magic hours, so I'll get to maximize my fun.

For those of you who haven't taken a solo trip, or are nervous about doing it, take this advice: DO IT. You'll be in the place you love, and YOU get to choose what you ride, what you eat, when you take a break, what shows/parades you watch... it's a wonderful experience! I've decided that I'm going to WDW as much as possible for the rest of my life, and if that means that I take a quick solo trip, then I'm doing it.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this with everyone. I was in WDW in May and June, and here I am, just as excited as ever. This will be my 7th trip since 2009 - I'm thinking that maybe I should really look into an annual pass...

Safe travels to all of you solo travellers!

Someone tell me about these "Dole Whips"... I've never had one....

Mike.

Good for you; I loved my solo trips and I'm doing another partially solo trip next month! It will be my fourth trip since 2010; and my fourth new resort. :)

I haven't had a dole whip since I was a little girl, but it's definitely on my list!

You are, of course, going to have a great time. Did you check out easywdw or touring plans to see how the crowds will be? Hope there are no hurricane issues for either of us!!

I was there in September of 2011, and the crowds were definitely better than summer time! Since kids are back in school the lines are much shorter (but popular rides still have lines, but they're no where near as long.)

My trips in May and June of this year both had rain - and it was hard at times. That's why a poncho is always in my pocket. It takes more than some rain to stop me from having fun. A wet day in Disney World is better than a dry day back home. Let's just hope that the weather cooperates for us!!

If I were you I would try and spend an extra day. It wouldn't really cost that much more money for an extra night at POP and would give you another day to hit another park. I would try to see MK and EPCOT.

BTW, not sure if you have been to Switzerland before, but it is a fantastic country, you will have a blast.

One last thing Dole Whips are pretty yummy too. Have a great time whatever you choose.:cool1:

Thats awesome! Looks like we will be there the same time! I am taking my first solo trip to the world Sept 23-28th!!! I am so excited and have always wanted to to go solo for years! Hope you have a wonderful time!

I hope you have a great time as well! (the only way not to have a great time is to decide before hand that you're having a bad time. I love it there no matter the weather or crowds!!)

I really, really, really thought about the extra day, but since this is my 3rd trip to WDW this year and because I set it up as a "quick trip" I decided to not extend myself or my resources. I'll be home by evening the 2nd day, instead of 1:00 am like I usually do on my solo trips. Besides, I WILL be back to WDW as soon as I can - I've decided that I'm going there at least once a year. Probably more. :)

Very excited about Switzerland. I'm already making my cold weather list of stuff to bring!

Thanks for all the info and ideas,

Mike.
