Our local NBC affiliate did a story on the Marine Corp scrapbook I'm making for Bobby. Here's the information from their website. Of course the actual television interview was more extensive - showed lots of pages from the scrapbook, and used quotes from Bobby's letters....but you guys will have to settle for the condensed version...
Military Mom Turns to Hobby to Keep Busy
To pass the time while her son is gone, one military mom is finding ways to keep busy. What began as a scrapbooking hobby, has become a chronicle of history for generations to share.
Corporal Bobby Knight has been a Marine for four years and he's been in Iraq since January. His mom has found a unique way to support his courage that also helps her to stay strong. Military mom Patty Knight says, You find out when you're scrapbooking, your camera goes everywhere you do.
Ever since her son was deployed to Iraq Patty has held on to every single memory. The hobby has kept Patty busy. There was probably two weeks in there where I couldn't sleep at night and every minute of every day all of my thoughts were on what was going on there, she says.
Patty sometimes thinks of the day when her son will be home to look over the scrapbook himself. Until then, she finds encouragement in every picture, every letter, and a few special words. I told him when he left, that every night when he went to bed to look at the moon and that I would look at the moon and that would be our link.
