There have been several questions about going solo and I thought I would just add my take.I have gone to WDW several times solo. Believe me, I prefer it that way. However, let me add that I have always been single so I am used to doing things alone. I am never lonely, because I can always strike up a conversation with families or offer to take group photos or just people watch
Some great things about being solo:
Getting to the parks early. I am an early riser and I don't have to wait on any slug-a- beds.
Only make bathroom breaks when I need to.
I go for over a week and can do things at my speed. I usually get to see everything at least once.
I have never had anyone be rude because I was alone.
Many times I can get on rides sooner to fill in rows.
I get to eat where I want. Being solo has not stopped me from eating anywhere I like and I have never had a problem. I have been to Cindy's for breakfast alone as well as California Grill and Tea at the Grand Floridian. ( this is especially nice on your own)
I would also like to suggest Downtown Disney hotels for the solo traveler especially those that are older. You get a much better room for the same price. I also think that when you are alone and used to it, the parks can be a bit wearing. There seems to be less frantic activity at those hotels. I also like the fact as a single woman that they have indoor hallways compared to the values and moderates at the Disney hotels. They are also close to Downtown Disney so I am not at all worried about being out at night.
Speaking of night time activities, The Adventurer's Club is a nice place to go when you are on your own because so much is interactive with the cast. You can usually always get a last minute single ticket to Cirque du Solei. There are also the movie theaters. Where even at home I might not feel comfortable going to a movie at night on my own, I have no worries at Disney.
I hope these few observations will help anyone planning a solo trip. As for people who ask why I am going alone I say "That way I get to be the kid"
