I've had a flight booked from BHM to MCO with a stop in New Orleans for the end of September. Although I felt guilty worrying about my flight with so many other concerns in the world right now, I knew the flight wouldn't stop in NO and called 4 or 5 times trying to change my flight. The reservation agents kept telling me my flight would go direct. SWA disagreed and decided to cancel my flight. I got on the phone this morning as soon as I got the e-mail and after a 45 minute call was able to rebook my flight leaving out of Nashville. :Pinkbounc They wanted to book me on another flight out of BHM, but it left earlier in the day and I couldn't take the kids out of school another day. Point being, they were very accomodating. So if you have a flight booked through NO, check your e-mail!

We had flights booked on Southwest leaving out of New Orleans at the end of October. Yesterday I decided to change to Jackson, MS and not take the chance of having problems in New Orleans later. Jackson is a 4 hour drive for us but thanks to yesterday's $31 DING for Jackson to Orlando our tickets are not costing us any more money. I really don't think things in New Orleans will be up and running within the next 60 days.

I called 2 different days asking about the flight leaving Birmingham with the stop in NO I was told they would fly a direct flight! I am not leaving until October 12th.I am in the same boat I can't take my children out of school any earlier. I am not a last second planner I have to have all my ducks in a row...I hope they let me know soon!A friend of mine booked everything through her TA and she was told the flight on the 15th of October would do the same?Just "fly over and directly go to Orlando :confused3

I am sure SW is working on this. However, it's not just as simple as it sounds when you lose an airport. While they might be able to reroute your flight direct to Orlando the problem is where the plane was coming from on it's route to Birmingham.

However, I would call them daily to see what your status is and not wait on them to call or email you. Things happen (For example at my office they would probably get caught in the overactive SPAM blocker!)

I got a DING this morning and it is showing a flight from New Orleans to Ft. Meyers with dates beginning October 2. This is a positive thing since New Orleans has not been appearing anywhere on SW's website as an option for booking travel prior to today. People traveling in October should keep watching - I know I will be! Hopefully by the end of October I can change back to New Orleans at a really great DING rate.

How did you get $31 from Jackson to Orlando? My ding must not be working because I have been waiting for jackson to orlando!!!
Should I go ahead and book today for $39 since this is the last day for the sale? It would have saved me almost $100 since I need 5 seats. :confused3

I got $31 from Jackson to Orlando yesterday afternoon from DING. The offer came out just after lunch and was bookable until 7:00 last night. Sorry to hear you missed it. I would book the $39 Florida Fare Frenzy sale today before it expires and then keep watching for a lower priced DING.

I should have mentioned that my return flight from MCO to BHM with a stop in NO on Oct 8 was also canceled. I'm surprised that they had a ding for Oct 2. I can't imagine the disaster being cleaned up by then - very sad.

Also should mention that my flight on Sept 30 going down to MCO did not seem to be very booked. I saw several dings for the flight. Maybe that's why they canceled it instead of making that particular flight non-stop. :confused3

I Love Southwest!!!!!! I called them & told them my sob story about my ding wasn't working and I missed the great deal of $31 and they honored it!!!!!!!!
This is a wonderful day :cheer2:
