* My "SURPRISE" Anniversary trip, Hubby Planned it All * Photopass & Video w/ Music*

I just ate lunch and am still hungry now thanks to the yummy pictures of WFG Pucks!
I've never tried the spaghetti. Maybe I will in March!

Great job shopping!
I know what you mean. Just posting those pictures makes me want that BBQ Chicken Quesadilla again. :rotfl2:

I think DH and I will try Wolfgang Pucks when we go in January....the food looks great! Can't wait for another update!
You have to. The food is so much better than other CS.

Wolfgang puck's looks so tasty!!! We were thinking about trying that the next time we are there. Now that I have seen a little bit more we might have to.

Yeah T-rex was kinda fun. We lucked out and actually got in with only a 20 min wait on New Years Eve. I was shocked. My son loved it. But he is really into Dino's. Plus every so often they have screens on the ceiling that make it look like there is a metor storm hitting. It is along the same lines as Rainforest cafe' just with Dino's. I would say you should try it some time.:thumbsup2 If even just for the atmosphere :goodvibes

Great update!
We may have to do that. Maybe the new will wear off. I can't believe you got in with only a 20 minute wait. :cool1: I wish I would have jsut asked ow long the wait was when we were there. No kidding the line was out the door just to check-in. :sad2:
Hey! Another Kentuckian here. I'm from Shelbyville, just outside of Louisville. Found your report the other day. Looks like you guys had a great trip. I would like to take my wife for a trip alone also. Can't wait to hear about the rest of it!

So did you guys survive the ice/snow storm?
Hello to my fellow Kentuckian, :wave2:
You should totally do a trip with just you and your wife. It's a totally different experience. :lovestruc

As far as the weather goes, we're still covered in ice and snow. We're in Eastern Ky. (Greenup, near Ashland). We got about 6 inches of snow, I think, coverered in ice then a little more snow. Luckily we haven't lost power but alot of our friends and family have. The kids have been out of school all week. What about you? How bad did the weather get in your area?

I had to stop and read your report for two reasons!!

1) We were at Disney at the very same time!! and

2) I also went for my anniversary...well sort of...my hubby isn't a Disney fan at all but he decided to go hunting on my anniversary and so as a gift I got to go to Disney on a solo trip!!!

Well I have loved what I have read so far!! I also really enjoyed the Yatchsman and I definitely found a new love for EPCOT and the WOrld Showcase, I think its my new favorite park!!!

So I have subbed and ready to hear more!!!

New reader, just catching up on your TR. I have to say wow and good job to your dh! I don't think mine would even try to pull that off for me, lol. He's definitely a keeper. :thumbsup2

I think you just made up my mind about eating at WPE....that food looks fantastic and I always here such good things about it on the DIS. :) We have an adr at 50s Prime Time one night that I'm seriously thinking about cancelling (especially since it's a night when they changed the hours pretty drastically...I don't want to wander a park that has nothing to do to wait for our adr, lol). Can't wait to hear more!

I'd like to try Wolfgang Puck's....and it being a counter service it's really cool!! Even though we won't be on the DP, I don't mind trying it!! Food looks very good.

We got a few inches of snow, maybe 4, then about 1/2 - 3/4 inch of ice, and then about 1 - 2 more inches of snow. We never lost power, but most of the area around us did. It's been a total mess. My kids were also out of school all week. Luckily not to bad for us personally, but I do feel terrible for the others who have no power. There has been some deaths related to storm from carbon monoxide in our area. Saturday morning my sister and brother-in-law's house burned down, possibly related to this storm.

Hope you guys get warm soon! I know we can't wait!

I wish I would have known we were there at the same time......we could have met up and said hi :wave2: . I'm heading to read about your trip now.

We've been to 50's and it's good but I reall can't say enough good things about WPE. I understand about not wanting to just hang out and wait for your ADR time. DHS is our least favorite park so we would have a problem doing that.
I'd like to try Wolfgang Puck's....and it being a counter service it's really cool!! Even though we won't be on the DP, I don't mind trying it!! Food looks very good.
It's very yummy! I definately recommend it. :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's house. I hope everyone is OK. I've heard about some of the deaths from the stor also. I don't think there have been any near us, though. Alot of our ice is melting today so I hope the bad stuff is behind us.

Narcoosee's & Wishes....then surprise!!!

So, we hopped on the bus and headed back to AKL to get changed for dinner. We got back to the resort and had a little bit of extra time, so I sat on the balcony and watched the animals.

We got changed and headed to the bus stop for the Magic Kingdom. Once there we took the boat over to the Grand Floridian. This was a nice change of pace since we usually take the monorail. I had no idea where Narcoosee's was located but I spotted it when we got off the boat. The boat docks right beside the restaurant. We checked in and were given a pager. I don't remember waiting very long at all....maybe like 10-15 minutes.

When they seated us, I was beyond thrilled to see the view I had. We weren't right beside the window, but we were just 1 table over from it. If I looked straight ahead I could see the castle perfectly. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Once again we received personalized menus.

We ordered our food and were then brought complimentary champagne.
102_0260.jpg

For my appetizer, I ordered the Crispy Duck Roll. This was soooo tasty. I have never had duck before but our server told me how good it was so I thought I'd take her advice. I'm glad I did because I really enjoyed this. :thumbsup2

DH ordered the caesar salad, but I don't seem to have a picture of it. :sad2: Then came the main course. I was so excited to see that we could order the whole lobster on the dining plan......so I did. :cheer2:
102_0263.jpg

DH decided on the surf and turf. It came with 2 good size pieces of filet mignon and a lobster tail. YUM, YUM!!!
102_0265.jpg

By this time it was about 10 minutes until 8:00. They mad ean annnouncement over the intercom in the restaurant that Wishes would be starting soon. I had read that you couldn't see from your table because of people standing outside the window. I was prepared to go outside but we didn't need to. The show started and even though there were a few people outside we could see perfectly. This was the absolute, best way to watch Wishes. They lowered the lights in the restaurant and piped the music in.......PURE MAGIC!!!

During the show most of the wait staff stayed out of site. When it was over our waitress re-appeared and asked what we would like for dessert. Well, we were stuffed......but we ate it anyway. :rotfl:

I had the almond crusted cheesecake and DH had the pecan tart. These aren't the exact names of them, but pretty close. We were thilled to see a special addition to our desserts.

We loved this meal. We both agreed that is was our favorite food.....favorite atmosphere.....and favorite spot to watch Wishes!!!

We took the boat back to the Magic Kingdon and then jumped on the bus bak to AKL. It had been a long, fun-filled day and we were worn out. Well, I opened the door to our room and was very surprised to see I had another surprise waiting for me. It was a basket filled with champagne, Mickey wine glasses, chocolates, cookies and a picture frame. The picture frame had an autographed picture of Mickey & Minnie that said "Happy Anniversary". It sitting on my dresser by my bed now and I smile everytime I see it.

Forgotten Pictures:

Here's a few I've somehow missed posting so I thought I'd just throw them in now.

When we were at Downtown Disney, we went to Goofy's Candy Co and did the make your own snacks. They were packed in there and it took a while to get them made but it was so worth it.
I had the marshmallows and DH had the pretzels. A snack credit can be used for both of these. :)

I don't think I've ever showed you pictures of the turndown service at AKL. They placed these tasty chocolates on our pillows every night. They tasted alot like those chocolate Andes Mints.
