Bought a new coffee maker 3 weeks ago, I KNEW I should have stayed with MR. COFFEE brand.....but stupid me decided to try a black n decker model...now what a tool company knows about brewing coffee is beyond me, but my mom has one said it was a good one.

I had my last MR COFFEE for 23 months...good time for a coffee maker I'd say when you consider I brew about 5=7 pots per day depending...I usually clean it once a week as your suppose to clean it every 30 days per instructions but I figured I use it as much in a week as the average person does in a month...

So onto this junk. 4 times now it has blown its top. Literally. Coffee grounds and 1/2 brewed coffee all over my counter, in the water resivour etc... 4 times, in 3 weeks....3 of those times were mornings.....not the best time for this to happen. Imagine your suprise as you exit the shower and walk into the kitchen to see 12 cups of nasty coffee grounds/mixed with 1/2 brewed water all over your counter and floor.

Each and every time, the carafe was on the heat plate correctly, there was no chance of their being 2 paper filters, as this fancy thing came with a lifetime gold filter....there is nothing I can see that I am doing wrong to cause this. When I put the grounds container back in after rinsing i make sure the pause n serve lever is okay.....it is.....the carafe is sitting correctly on the plate....

I've really had it with this thing.....I cant return it as who knows where the receipt is and the box is long gone...I might send an email to black n decker and ask em if I have a defective maker or if there is some fancy smancy way of working this stupid coffee maker.....

I will be going back to MR COFFEE rest assured...after all the name says it all LOL

There's only one coffee maker I'll ever buy again... BUNN. How can you beat a coffee maker that brews in 3 minutes and is very hot?

Best $100 investment we've made in a coffee maker!

Hot, donut shop quality coffee that is brewed in 3 minutes... need I say more?

Rather than the brand change, from Mr. Coffee to Black and Decker, I suspect the problems you had was more a matter of the passage of time, and how the entry-levle coffee makers are simply no longer made as well as they used to be made.

Bunn is unquestionably the best brand in coffee makers, in terms of flavor. However, their machines are somewhat dumber than their competitors -- trading off how good the coffee is by how convenient they make it to use the machine. Having said that, we never use the auto-start brewing feature or the auto-shutoff feature in our coffee maker, so the fact that many Bunn coffee makers don't have these features probably wouldn't bother us much. (Some do, of course, but dollar for dollar, Bunn coffee makers are missing convenience features found on same-priced competitors machines.)

Personally, I recommend Bodum manual brewing, but a lot of folks bristle at the idea of actually having to stand there and pour the coffee over the grounds manually. It sure does make the best coffee IMHO.
