The middle school where I teach has a penny war each year and we raise money for a wish kid. This is a rural school and there are 450 kids in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. We are not in an upper economic area but a lower middle class farming community. These kids really gave from the heart, emptying their pockets after lunch and even a few asked neighbors for donations. The 8th grade went on a field trip yesterday and when the bus driver found out they were raising money for Make a Wish pulled a 50 dollar bill out of his wallet for the effort. While the grades love to compete against each other they are also so eager to help others. We raised $500 more than last year and a week ago we had doubts we would even match last years amount. This is all from the kids. I am blessed to know these wonderful students. Just thought I would share a good news story that showed the true Christmas spirit.
Elizabeth, our wish kid, choose WDW as her wish. Unfortunately she was in the hospital last weekend and wasn't able to join our school today. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
