my stroller stolen

So sorry ot hear about this. It's terrible what people do! I know that I experienced this panic on our trip in November. We walked off of a ride in Fantasyland and our (nice) stroller was gone. I literally turned around in circles and it wa sno where nearby. I did eventually find it in a diffrent area. I'm hoping that what happened was that a CM moved it for space reasons. But still, it was in stroller parking to begin with :confused3

I haven't heard that they will cut the lock if you have the wheels locked but they can (and I imagine will) cut the lock if the stroller/wheelchair is locked to something like a bench, lightpole, etc.

Yes. We locked one wheel of my DW's wheelchair to the frame of the chair such that the chain would need to be cut in order to wheel it off.

That still that is.

I'm surprised to hear that DW does not have security cameras.

I just bought a very nice joger stroller (all most $300) just for disney think I will right my name all over it now and try the bike lock. Heck I mite get a back pack and take both back tires off it! at least to still it they would have to carry it:rotfl:

that was a joke but the more I think of it that mite work, I could use the bike lock to lock the two tires together and leave thim in the stroller, a thief will go to the easit stroller to still doubt they would take one that took putting together

This is exactly what we did. On our first night in Disney (last month) we went to DTD for our ADR's at Capt N Jacks. I forgot our bike lock in the room back at the resort. So instead of just leaving my $400 stroller unlocked and ready for the taking, we popped off the back wheels and took them with us in our backpack. The rest of the trip we locked the back wheels with the bike lock. A few times we locked it to my scooter and was never once told we couldn't. I even asked a few CM's if it was ok to do that. We were told that as long as it wasn't locked to anything permanent like a pole or fence then it was ok. Both the scooter and the stroller could still be moved. I think it's a shame that people will steal from a child even at Disney.

If someone had come in planning to steal strollers, I think a lock might have slowed them down a little, but would not have stopped them if yours was the one they wanted. I would expect someone coming in to steal strollers might also have a plan to sneak in a cutting tool so they could cut a lock.

Yes, if someone wants your stroller, it's difficult or impossible to stop them. But most people are looking for a stroller and will take the easiest one they can get.

We just returned from our trip. We bought a brown $80 Graco umbrella stroller. Wrote our last name all over it, attached an extra Disney Luggage tag we had to it, and stuck on a couple address labels on a few places. Parked it at several stroller parking spots throughout our week there, and each time, came back to it parked right where we'd left it. We also encountered most stroller parking areas had CM's there at all times directing where to park your stroller...not that having them there helps as they don't know after 5 minutes who parked what stroller...but it made me feel a little better. Also, there was a thread a couple months ago about someone who had a stroller stolen from the Speedway Stroller parking area while they were eating dinner in Cosmic Rays. She said strollers weren't allowed in Cosmic Rays. However, we were allowed to take ours in. And in fact saw many strollers inside the building.

Sorry yours was stolen.

I thought that I was the only person that this could have happened too! My hubby & I were so angry! We just got off the last ride of the night, Splash Mountain, we went to get our Jogging stroller, which by the way had a black/white leopard scarf tied on the handle, my son & I went one way thinking they moved it, my hubby went another way, the spectro light parade was starting, so we were all running around like crazy looking, can you believe that someone pushed it all the way down by the Haunted Mansion????? My poor little boy age 4 found it, he was yelling Mummy look there is our stroller!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was dark and he saw it, someone was looking out for us, because we still had 6 more days of parks, & I refused to pay that crazy fee. People are just rude to move or steal strollers! It is disney for goodness sakes. What a stinking shame. I can't wait til there is no need for one anymore.

We also had an experience like this, my dd is totally disabled and we carried her onto Pirates of the Carribean and whenever we came out her wheelchair was gone, someone had pushed it all the way pass TMR ,we carried our dd ( who can not walk ) all that way and it was not fun. :headache:

I'm sorry to hear that you also had a wheelchair stolen, but, I'm glad that you did (finally) manage to recover it. My DW's chair was never found--I really couldn't believe that someone would steal a wheelchair. Now, to hear that it happened to someone else, too....

Don't people realize that you use it for a reason?

(Well, given all the threads around here with people claiming that they can identify the fact that people are scamming the system just by looking at them, I guess I do know that people don't realize this. But, I still think it's crazy for a person to assume that anyone would choose to fake a need for a wheelchair.)

I think that whoever does thinks that it is funny or a prank, but quite frankly, its just plain wrong! I feel for you, my son was able to at least walk, if it were not for him, I don't know what we would have done, the stroller(McClaren) was a friend of mine. I would have been buying a new one. Thankfully that was not the case. Hopefully this year we will both have luck.

I am so sorry that happened to you!! That is awful!

I know this isnt nearly as bad, but when we were there in September, we had two rice crispy treats made at Goofy's and set them on our table and walked away for a second and someone swiped them both. The CM's couldnt belive it and were so nice about it.

Some people just have to ruin things for others. I don't understand it.

Sorry again!!

Thanks for being so supportive and sending kind words!!!

It has been over 2 weeks and no luck with calling Lost and Found.

Just came back from Disney yesterday. We had 2 ECVs moved at DS from a ride to a new area - one of the members of my family complained to the staff who said they moved it, when we turned it did not at first it didn't function properly because they had engaged the emergency brake.

I also have a stroller/wheelchair for Rachel (Convaid), cost $3,500.00. I always take it inside the restaurant. I just tell the CM it she needs it. The only time I have to leave it is when we go on TTA. That makes me nervous.

You can get a stroller as wheelchair GAC for your child w/ a disability. You will be allowed to take it everywhere just as you would a wheelchair (of course). My child has stamina issues with his neurological impairment so we use it.

Also, Orlandostrollerrentals.com rents all kinds of strollers, even the Baby Jogger Liberty special needs stroller. That way you wouldn't have to worry about yours.

that is so terrible...i have always felt safe in WDW also...with the exception of CM moving our stroller & having a moment of panic..ours has never been touched. in fact one time before leaving for our flight we headed to the parks for a lunch & some quick rides. after our meal i thought my DH put my purse under the stroller, he thought i did it. it sat on the same chair for over 45 mins & when we went back for it...it was still there. i was amazed :worship:

That's horrible :( We plan on taking both of our Macs down again next week...you have me considering a lock though....I don't want to imagine the week without strollers!

OP:: I'm so sorry to hear your stroller was stolen, that's just terrible! I hope you guys still got to enjoy your vacation, and I hope your DD is doing well!

I am so saddened to see that someone took your stroller. They must be the same one that took DD's autograph album out of our stroller. we had 3 spots left to fill before we went home and were planning on doing it at the Studios. It was sitting in the basket underneath and now it is gone. I am so mad at the person who took it. It had DD's christmas party sigs, Tink and princess breakfast. I am hoping that maybe, just maybe somebody will mail it home. I did put her name and address inside! Sure wish I had put my cell number now but oh well. I know it doesn't compare to your stroller but it is still the principle of the matter!

That is just sad, it would break my heart, poor DD!

I've never felt worried about our strollers (we also have Macs) at Disney, we've left our camera, souvies, etc. in the basket and the seat...but I guess I have to stop being naive. This trip around, I will definitely be a little more careful and alert.

During our last trip, I felt my purse (with cash, gift cards & camera) on the bus from SSR to MK. I didn't realize until the bus drove away and we were setting up the stroller  we told a CM (oddly enough, DH & I remembered the bus number) and the CM radioed their base and the bus driver said another guest brought it up to him. The Driver met with another driver (I guess someone who was headed back to MK immediately) and returned everything to us. I was really embarrassed but so thankful - that's the 'magic' I'd imagine and appreciate at WDW, not someone taking a baby's stroller! :sad2: Again, I'm sorry OP, that's a real bummer.

If we have two strollers do you think we could lock them together... I can imagine some one trying to steal two stollers locked together...

 to the OP who lost her pretty mac. I love my mac double stroller. thankfully its disgustingly dirty and not in the best shape, its been used to death at WDW LOL. I am so sorry that happened to you. I would make a claim with your homeowners or renters insurance if you have it, they might cover it.

People suck. ugh.

I was with my handicapped mom in Epcot 3 weeks ago and my dh had put stuff in a locker earlier in the day. Mom was in her scooter and we both went to the locker area and I put the key in and took out my items. Stupid me didn't realize that I needed to take the key out and return it for my deposit. So when I went into the store to get my deposit the cm looked at me like I was crazy and said I need the key. So I ran back to get the key and it was gone. I went back in told the Cm the # and someone had already returned it!!! and got my deposit!! :sad2: all within a span of 5 minutes if that! I was so irate. People just suck! to come to WDW to thieve $5.00 from people, that is just lowwwwww. I hope they all get hemorroids and karma bites them in the butt!

I hope you can get some compensation from your insurance!

1st I am so sorry about your stroller being stolen that is jsut sooo crappy. My question is this. We have an LSU purple and gold stroller,(yes we are obsessive fans and we start the brainwashing early ;)) do you think that will make this situation better or worse? I am not sure how many people will have LSU strollers and I do plan to put our name on it somehow but I guess I should just bring a bike lock anyway right? Just wondering if anyone has seen team strollers a lot?

Thanks :D

Wow! I can't imagine how you felt. It makes you feel so invaded. Someone took our stroller once. Their stroller was the exact one but we knew when we came out they had taken it because their wheels were slightly broken and we had tied a ribbon on ours. We chased them down and they insisted they had the right stroller.

It made things very upsetting for the rest of the day.

I still feel WDW is a safe place but there are bad people everywhere.

Happy New Year to you and your family.

Shayla
