My State Food is Better Than Yours

I have to agree with the previous poster from Missouri re: barbecue pork steaks, ice cream cone and toasted ravioli. But, I'm not sure anyone knows about St.Paul sandwiches from chinese takeout. A St. Paul sandwich is an egg foo yung patty with mayo, tomato, lettuce and onion on bread. Many of my relatives when the visit always want a St. Paul Sandwich because they can't get them from anywhere else! :thumbsup2

Oh my, what? Ranch dressing? you can't taste an oyster under that! cocktail sauce made from ketsup and horseradish. That is the only proper thing....and again.. they are saltier in MD.
Ummm...
Rocky Mountain Oysters are not oysters as you know them...

Here in OK, they are called Calf Fries, and personally, it would take a whole bottle of ranch dressing for me to eat them. Of course, ranch dressing makes almost anything taste better!

I just read that and let me tell you it is not for the faint of heart! There's not enough ranch dressing in the WORLD for me to eat that! Not even for a free trip to WDW! lol.

OHIO here...

I know there are many more things but they are escaping me now, BUT

The BEST has to be Buckeyes! (peanut butter balls covered in chocolate most of the way so pb is just peeking out the top...MMMMMMMMMMM

I believe our (Massachusetts/Maine) fresh fish and "lobsta" is the best around!!

Wouldn't it be cool if one year Disney did an All-American Food and Wine festival and had fifty stations around the World Showcase, each one featuring foods from a different state? Based on all the mouth-watering descriptions we've had here, it would be a very delicious event!

Teresa

Now that sounds like an excellent idea!! I'm drooling just thinking about it!

I am from Northern Kentucky which is practically a suburb of Cincinnati. GO BENGALS! Anyhoo, I have to give the attention to what Cincinnati is known best for and that would be the chili aka Skyline Chili or Gold Star Chili, you can't get it anywhere else but here. If you have never had it you don't know what you are missing.

I am so amazed that no one from Iowa has posted yet. You can't beat our corn on the cob and Iowa Pork Chops. This year the Beef Assoc. did a hot beef sundae which was pretty good. It was roast beef topped with mashed potatoes, gravy, shredded cheese, and a grape tomato on top. It was good but I still don't think you can beat at Iowa Chop.
I lived in Des Moines Iowa for 3 yrs. (20+ years ago ) and we went to the Iowa State Fair many times in those 3 years ....how about those "Maidrites" ....only had them in Iowa , nothing like them back home here in Massachusetts ! They were actually very good. :thumbsup2

I read this whole thread and no one from Michigan. So speaking up for the Great Lake State......drum roll please........

Blueberry Pie, or is that Cherry Pie, no wait Apple Pie ummmmm maybe Peach Pie, Pumpkin Pie?

Any fruit grown in Michigan turned into a pie!

And don't forget the Pasties from the U.P. (the a is a short a sound like in apples, not those things strippers wear)

Even though I've spent most of my life in TN, I have to agree with this one, seeing as my family is from Indiana near the OH line. :teeth: I make several batches of these every holiday season using my great -grandmother's recipe(and I absolutely refuse to give out the recipe). :rotfl: Seriously, you can't just call it a peanut butter ball.......it has a certain taste and texture......it is a BUCKEYE.

I do agree...but the best way I could describe it is "peanut butter ball" to those who have no idea what it is... ;)
just LOVE 'em!!!!

Another Ohioan here and definitely have to second the Buckeye and Skyline chili and I can even agree with the Pitt. poster about Primanti Bros. :) We live smack in the middle between Pitt. and Cleveland and have a major melting pot of authenic food here so I have to also mention the:

Piergohy
Kolachi
Stuffed cabbage
Stuffed peppers
Pepperoni rolls
Kielbasi and kraut
and wonderful homemade pasta dishes
