I just checked my flights for Oct, as I try to do every day. I had gotten a Click and Save email this AM, but my destination was not among those listed for a sale. Nevertheless I checked and lo and behold, they went down! I had booked $79 each way, and they were now listing $69-79 each way.

Here's the strange thing: My return flight was available (exact same flight) for $69, but my departing flight was not. The next category listing available would have resulted in an increase over what I was already paying. So I decided to call and see if I could get a refund on my CC for the difference (it was $50 total) ON THE RETURN flight. Well I barely got the words out that I noticed my fare went down ON THE RETURN flight, and she said "Oh wonderful! Were you looking at the $69 fare?" I said yes and she said, "Good for you, you just saved yourself $100"! I thought it was only $50, as the departing flight was showing up as unavailable at the $69 fare! I questioned her to be sure nothing was being changed that I didn't want changed and she said "Oh, no. It would take me a lot longer than that to make changes, I just repriced your flights at $69 EACH WAY"! I was so excited about getting $100 instead of $50, that I didn't want to push it by asking that she refund it to my CC. So I now have a $100 credit for a future flight. I'm very pleased, but wondering if I really shoud have asked that it be put on my CC. What do you think?

Oh, yes, and I did get a confirmation email right away and it is just as she said, same exact flights at $69 each way. :flower:

Congrats! I really love Southwest, and this is one reason! I checked my Oct. flights too this a.m. hoping for a sale price from BWI, and no sales here, but I ended up changing the first 1/2 of my flight to arrive sooner. I love that you can do that without penalty (it was the same price).

Call the long distance # on sw website and pick the option to talk to refund department. Then, ask for refund to your cc. I did it twice and it worked both times!

I hadn't thought they would put it on my CC once they had put it in my ticketless travel funds, is this what happened with you? I guess it's worth a try.

When your flight price drops and they give you the difference in a credit or on your credit card is there afee involved?

Not with Southwest, that's why I love them (that, and they fly nonstop to Orlando from my local airport)! Basically, if you cancel or change a flight(s) you will get credit for the entire fare, which you may then use to book another flight(s), within one year of the initial reservation. In addition, some peple have reported that if the fare drops for the same exact flight(s) they have booked (no changes required), that they have been able to get the difference refunded to their CC. Hope that helps.

That's why I love SWA. I have gotten credits to my CC upon fare drops in the past with no fee (there have to be no changes to the original reesie). They are great about it. :cool1:

On the other hand I decided to try Song for my October trip as there were $79 back in April. My flight went down to $49 on Song for October, and they are charging me a $25 change fee per ticket, and the remainder is just a credit. That and all of my flights times on Song appear to have changed! Needless to say, I have big, big reservations about flying Song again.

Gotta love SWA!

I like SWA for this reason also. In the past they've given me a credit voucher for the difference in $$ but would not refund my CC. That was fine with me. :flower:

This is why I will pick SWA over Song every time. Why should we get penalized for planning ahead & the last minute people reap the benefits? I just let those credits add up & book another trip to WDW at those cheap fares. So now I need to decide if I should book now or hold out a little longer for that $49 rate.

Yes, it did. I had a $98 fare from mci to mco. Got a Ding deal for like $91, so I cancelled and rebooked all 6 tickets. Had around $40 something sitting in ticketless travel. I called and they refunded it to me. About a month later, SW came out with their internet fares of $59. I cancelled my previous ding deal and rebooked. Had about $400 in ticketless travel. CAlled and they refunded again. This is all the same trip, same flight times.
