I just checked my flights for Oct, as I try to do every day. I had gotten a Click and Save email this AM, but my destination was not among those listed for a sale. Nevertheless I checked and lo and behold, they went down! I had booked $79 each way, and they were now listing $69-79 each way.
Here's the strange thing: My return flight was available (exact same flight) for $69, but my departing flight was not. The next category listing available would have resulted in an increase over what I was already paying. So I decided to call and see if I could get a refund on my CC for the difference (it was $50 total) ON THE RETURN flight. Well I barely got the words out that I noticed my fare went down ON THE RETURN flight, and she said "Oh wonderful! Were you looking at the $69 fare?" I said yes and she said, "Good for you, you just saved yourself $100"! I thought it was only $50, as the departing flight was showing up as unavailable at the $69 fare! I questioned her to be sure nothing was being changed that I didn't want changed and she said "Oh, no. It would take me a lot longer than that to make changes, I just repriced your flights at $69 EACH WAY"! I was so excited about getting $100 instead of $50, that I didn't want to push it by asking that she refund it to my CC. So I now have a $100 credit for a future flight. I'm very pleased, but wondering if I really shoud have asked that it be put on my CC. What do you think?
Oh, yes, and I did get a confirmation email right away and it is just as she said, same exact flights at $69 each way.
