Couldn't believe it! Out of what, 900 seats?? in the theatre, they picked him. Oddly, my daughter had been selected to be on stage the night before for a Ho Ho Ho contest during the premiere of Santa Clause 2. For anyone on the 11/2 Magic that I didn't meet, I was the one with the little boy at the 8:30 show who the host said was answering before he even finished reading the questions! He missed the $100 question and won $80. Pretty darn cool for an 8 year old! He got the contestant pin and the pleasure of being recoginzed and complemented the rest of the cruise

My daughter the night before was the one who wasn't from New Jersey....and there were not many of us on that cruise!:D

That's reall cool.....Can't wait for our cruise to try our luck....

We were there, he was so sweet! It was disboard night at that show because it was psimon up there with his father who almost won the free cruise. His father was so charming, it would have been wonderful if he had won. Especially on a night when someone had already won the cruise during an earlier show.

My family and I were on the February cruise when a young man won the contest. Coincidentally, he and his family chose the 7 night September 28 Cruise (the "Magic-al Mystery Cruise" due to Hurricane Lili) that we were also on!

So dreams do come true!

I'm blushing!

It was a real blast being up there with my father. He was the one who had the magic seat! He was allowed to take me with him! Together, we came real close. Far closer to a cruise than he or I ever expected.

We got through 9 out of 10 questions, with the 10'th question being the one for the free cruise. There were no life lines left. We had 90 seconds to come up with the final answer. A few people were shouting out the correct answer (including my daughter) in spite of being instructed to be quiet. Unfortunately, it was a blurr on stage. Watching the clock count down and trying to decide whether to take the money (a $400 shipboard credit) or take a gamble was mind numbing. If we stopped there my father got $400. If he answered wrong, he dropped to $175. If he answered and got it right, he got a free cruise! Oh, the pressure! What to do, what to do.

We finally decided walking away with a guarenteed $400 was wiser than taking a chance. The sad thing was that after the game was over, I realized I had known the answer and the pressure of the moment completely threw me! What a bummer! :(

Oh well.... it certanly was one of the highlights of the trip. You can sit in your own easy chair at home and get all the answers right and think the game is easy...... but then when you get there it's a completely different story!

What added to the fun was for the few days after, people would stop either one of us and congratulate us on our game. They all said they thought that we did the smart thing by taking the money and they would have done the same.

Odds are I will never get that lucky again, and to be able to share it with my father just added to the joy!

psimon: Your Dad got called up as my son was leaving. We finished up backstage and got ushered to the front row to watch the rest of the show and your Dad was fairly close to the top at that point. He did great and the other contestants and families were really cheering him on from the front row(although not calling out answers) If it wasn't one of us winning a cruise, it would have been neat to see someone win. You were more composed than me up there as a helper! I couldn't stop laughing, and I though I was going to faint. It was overwhelming to be up there...it really was.

100% Disney. Anything you can think of related to movies, the parks, and everything else Disney related.

Hi Rae! William was the one who won a cruise in February. It was great for he and his dad to go up together. As someone said, the glow lasted for quite some time after, as people came up and congratulated him. Even when we took the "won" cruise many of the crew remembered him. It was something he will never forget. :D Elaine

I got to be one of the panelists for the NYE 2001/2002 cruise. It was so much fun. Got a great little collector pin too. But, man was I nervous. LOL

I realize you were nervous being part of the panel..... just think how we were in the hot seat!

What was that last question? Just wondering whether I could have gotten it.

Hi Paul!
We recognized you right away up on stage after meeting you earlier in the cruise! It was so much fun to be able to talk to others from the DIS board on the cruise and to tell the ones who didn't know, that that was you and your Dad! We agreed, we would have taken the $400 also. We had guessed the correct answer, but you know how guesses can be!

:D

I dont even know what "who wants to be a mousekateer" is......but it sure does sound like a good time!

Can someone explain this game to me? And is it played on 4 night cruises?? Is it just a random pick of the audience that decides who gets to play?

Sandy: It was great meeting you and your family. Since we were the only 2 who showed up for the DIS meet at Scoops (where was everyone???) it was great to have someone to point other DIS members out to us as the week went on. I also agree Paul I would have taken the money if I wasn't sure. It was killing me not to scream out the answer. It was one of those either you know it or don't know it questions.

Redhead01: The game is just like Who Wants to be a Millionaire except they use all Disney questions and give out onboard credit or a cruise if you make it to the end. They randomly pick out people form the audience to play and others to act as a panel instead of phone a friend. It's alot of fun to watch.

It's amazing how your mind can go blank when under pressure! Geez, and I thought college finals were a lot of pressure

Anyway, we were trying to remember the questions we had. Obviously, we remember the final question :( , and we remember a few of the other. I am looking for the rest.

These are what I remember, in no particular order:

1 Who was the love interest in Hercules?
2 Who gave the grand openning speech at WDW?
3 From the Disney movie Cemetery plot, how do you spell cemetery?
4 Who was the voice of Princess Atta in A Bugs Life?
5 Which song out of a list was not in Beauty and the Beast?

Does anyone remember any of the others from the 11/2 Magic?

Many thanks.... Paul

psimon-

I'm interested to know the answers.

I guess I better study my Disney trivia.
