If you know who took it, can't you call his parents? My DS did this when a kid at school stole his Gameboy. I felt badly, because I had told him to just forget it, that he'd never get it back, etc. My DS called the kid's father. The Dad brought the kid over, made him hand back the Gameboy and apologize. Another year, a kid in his 8th grade class took my Ds's cell phone. We met with the school resource officer, (Police officer.) The kid who stole it had bragged to some other kids in the class. The SRO interviewed them, and then called the kid in. He confessed. It turned out that he had been stealing from other kids all year long! He had been taking lunch money from one girl repeatedly. She had been afraid to report it. Apparently, he was the "lab monitor", and had access to all of the kids' backpacks while they were out of the room somehow. Anyway, they suspended the kid for the rest of the year, (it was in the last two weeks) and my Ds got his cell phone back. The mother of this boy had no idea, and I hope they got him some help.
