My son the destroyer

My younger one once took a brand new bottle of mommy's good base makeup and use it to paint her furniture and rug. She also decorated with lipstick and mascara. Wasn't that fun?

Thankfully she is now 5 1/2 and no longer does that.

If it wasn't for the sweet little hugs where he pats me on the back and says "awww" I might have to offer him up. ;)
Your whole post could've been written by me...my angel Abbie is 3.5 and devilish Walt is 21 months today!! YOWZER! Have there EVER been 2 kids more different!

I must say, I recognize that look on his face! It's the "uh oh, I've been caught, but I'm so cute I'll just make eyes at her" look that we know so well in our house!

We've found a 3.5" diskette in the CD drawer of the computer (it no longer works). He can now climb out of his bed so I've had to resort to that crib tent thing to keep him safe at night. Oh...he figured out how to unzip it from the inside on day 2 so we now have to put the zipper pull around the velcro strap to keep him in  He doesn't mind it at all...just sees it as another challenge. When angry, he starts clearing shelves, tables, etc. And just this week has started biting his sister :scared1: when he doesn't get his way! Poor thing (DD that is).

Anyway...your last comment... "If it wasn't for the sweet little hugs where he pats me on the back and says "awww" I might have to offer him up. ;) " I can totally relate. His latest saving grace is his sweet little kisses, or offering up his forehead for me to kiss him. In our house we've taken to an old-timey phrase from way-back-when "That's it! I'm leaving you out for the gypsies!!" Hasn't happened yet....but I'm keeping their number on speed-dial

Good luck to us all!!

Let me tell you....if I had my second child the first time around....I would not have two children today!
She loves to fix everything, she's 7 now and the screwdriver has been found in her room a couple of times because she fixes her toys!
And all the things boys usually do, she does too. My MIL used to say that she's a boy trapped in a girl's body.

My 3rd would have been an only child too. He is 23 months and I thought MosMom was talking about my son. He has white hair and we call him "The White Tornado." He leaves a path of destruction behind him wherever he goes!

He says, CAR, CAR, CAR, CAR all the time. At a restaurant, a man sitting near us, got up to leave and said, "Son, I hope you get your CAR!" He's obsessed with CARS.

I thought he might be a tad hyper but by reading this thread I guess he is normal and my other two were just easier children.

He never sits down. The only time he isn't moving is when we put him to sleep and he crashes. He does take good naps and sleeps well. Do your toddlers ever just stop and be still?

Lori

stop and be still? What's that? Mine is 7 now and I'm still waiting....she's a monkey who never stops!
But I must say she does very well in school, so I guess something I'm doing works in school.

LOL I'm cracking up at these posts. Glad to know I'm not the only one with a holy terror. ;)

E LOVES his cars too! Daddy taught him how to keep his car in the pocket of his overalls so whenever he is wearing overalls/shortalls he sticks a matchbox car in there.

I am hoping that he will take all this energy and do something constructive with it when he gets older. I'm hoping against a safecracker and more towards a surgeon or engineer. ;)

Did I tell you that all my dd wanted for her birthday two years ago were Tonka trucks? that's what she got!

I've come to the conclusion that the reasons the first children are so easy is because:

1) They have no one to teach them
2) Deep down they know that when mom/dad says "no" they mean "no".

So they wait until the others come along and then "egg them on" with the double dare thing or whatever they call it at that age (you know they have their own language thing going). Doesn't matter if the little ones talk or not, you know they understand

Example:

oldest-"I wonder what would happen if I put this penny in the VCR"

youngest- thinks to themselves-"Try it and see what happens"

oldest-"No, I think I'll play with this instead"

youngest, now that his curiosity is aroused does it anyway

See oldest has now accomplished her/his mission, they now know what would happen, and they did not get in trouble for it. LOL

Another one who thinks I could have written the original post. One minor difference: my destroyer is DD now 2 1/2. I really hopes she slows down soon!

She has...

emptied an entire bottle of baby powder in her room

used a tube of Boudreaux's butt paste as finger paint on the walls

colored on every surface available (including our hardwood floors) with markers (now carefully regulated)

broken plastic headbands just to see what would happen

emptied every single VHS tape out of its box (we don't even bother putting them back anymore)

put a DVD in the VCR

emptied and entire bottle of shampoo into her bath because we left it within reach

There are many more, but they escape me now. DH calls her either "destructor" or "the little terrorist" or "Maiya-al-kada"

My DD7 puts matchbox cars in all of his pants. I've even washed them. Crazy me didn't think to check the 23 month old's pant pockets.

I think my son is destined to be an engineer. It doesn't help when Dad and both Grandfathers are engineers. Lord help me, I'm raising another nerd! Maybe for Christmas I can get him a pen guard for his shirt pocket.

Hmm stop and be still nope not here my almost 3 year old and her little brother are just all over the place he is more than she is but holy cow. We feel like we have a broom or vacuum in our hands 24/7 and are always putting away toys and getting them out of the sink. They like to try and help do the dishes well we end up with more water on the floor than we do in the sink. They love to get up and play at restaurants not run around but play at our table you feel like you have run a marathon at the end of the day.
