My son is on his 1st date that we didnt have to take him back and forth.

I feel sad He turned 16 on Tues and we bought him a Camaro ( mistake , should have bought a beetle bug less cool for guys I think LOL)
He is out with his girlfriend at a movie and then dinner . I know they have to grow up but I cant take it !!

Wow, what is the legal driving age where you live? Here teens are not allowed to have a license to drive alone until they are at least 16 years and 8 months, and that is only if they have taken a driver training class.

I hope your son has a good first date all on his own. How special he must feel right about now

My DS is only 9 y/o & you made my heart skip a beat with your post! I just dread the day my DS drives AND dates!

How exciting - and a little bit sad for you. I hope your son has a great first "alone" date. I know how you are feeling. DD's boyfriend will get his license in Oct. and they are already talking about where they will go when he can drive. Is he your oldest child? I can't decide if it was harder when our oldest DS started driving because he was the first, or if it will be harder when DD starts because she is "the baby." Let us know how the date went, I am sure you will be awake anyway!!!

My DS just stopped by the house He brought the GF by to say hi to me . Glad she really likes me !
They are going for Ice cream now .

Our oldest will be 18 next week and she was really hard to let go out.

You have to be 16 to get your DL in TX as long as you have had drivers training class and you are enrolled in school and going. They make you bring a form from the School to prove you have been for X amount of days . You have to have had your driving permit for at least 6 mon.

My oldest is 10. I already have her first vehicle picked out....my 2001 Ford Expedition. Why such a huge vehicle for a beginner? Well, statistcally, they're safer. And when she gets really good driving and shows me she can handle it, she'll become "Taxi Sister" to her 3 younger sisters! Plus it'll allow me to get a new vehicle by then!

Wow, can you adopt me I'm turning 50 in about 3 weeks, it does not have to be a Camaro. I will apreciate just about any new car.

Another big hurtle in parenthood has just been reached. Sigh both of my babies are currently in college.

My DD, 16 went out last night with a boy she has liked since Feb. (long time for teens). He seems to a nice kid, and we know the parents. She came in last night all happy, but then we both went to bed. I can't wait for her to get up and tell me about the big date!
