I know this sounds crazy but if they are having a coughing fit take them outside. A respitory therapist and my Dr. told me breathing in the cold air would stop it. I tried it and it works. She also told me that cold mist humidier is much better than a heated one. Also one of the worst things you can do is put your kids in "Steamy Bathroom".

I agree! My DD had it once, scared me to death, it happened in the middle of the night, my one daughter came screaming down the stairs that her sister was choking on something and so I go running up there and she sounded horrible, I honestly thought she was choking on something but after I got her calmed down and stopped crying I could hear what was going on so we hurried and got dressed and I took her to the ER....when I got her out in the cold air it helped tons, even the ER DR told me that was one of the best things to do is to get them into the cold. She has not had it since....It was definatly a very scary moment for me

Hope your little one starts to feel better soon :grouphug:

My youngest just dealt with croup last week it was SO scary! She did better at night with a vaporizor though...
She (and her older Sis) have asthma, so from what I understand this happens a lot with asthjma sufferes. :( She just got the flu shot yesterday so I am hoping she will be fine for our trip in less than a month! :goodvibes
