ok so I am back (12hrs from my first ever trip) and I have now realized that my 6.5 year old has bigger you know whats than my husband.

6 YEAR OLD (of course with me by his side)

2 times space mountain
3 times expedition everest
4 times tower of terror
lost count of splash mountain
6 times journey to atlantis (sea world)
3 times thunder railroad

Cried because he was tooooo short for rock n roller coaster and Kracken (sea world) and if fast passes hadn't run out, there would have been more

Wow!! He's a tough guy ! My DD (almost 8) is still scared to go on all of those (except Splash Mtn). We will be at WDW in January, and she will be 8- I'm hoping she wants to do a few more "big" rides, since it will be a mom/DD only trip, and I won't be able to do child swap. I plan to do lots of bribing with candy, ice cream, and junk food !

Our last trip, DD was 5, and her two favorite rides were Splash and BTMRR. She didn't want to do Space Mountain because she couldn't sit next to me, but is excited to go on it for our trip next summer when she will be 7. How steep were the hills on Expedetion Everest, and did your son have problems with anything on the ride? I'm trying to decide about Rock n Roller Coaster, too -- DD is almost 50" tall so she can ride it, but I'm not sure if I want to!

Just be sure to feed her the junk food AFTER you ride all the rides.

DS, then 2 months short of 6, did ToT, SM, and anything he was tall enough for. He was bummed out that he was a couple inches too short for Summit Plummet and RnRC. This fall he will be there for his 7th b-day, and is excited about EE and RnRC.

My ds6 is the same. Any ride for him. Especially coasters. He started as soon as he hit the height requirement. Thankfully dh loves coasters and I do spinning with no height. Dumbo is a challege.

We've hidden Rock n Roller coaster because he might make the height, but it makes my husband nervous to have his ds on it.

Lets not be too tough on dear old dad. I have the DESIRE to ride all sorts of rides. But my stomach has the DESIRE to empty its contents when I experience zero 'g's.


Has nothing to do with the size of the you know whats.

how tall was your son? one of mine (7.5) is definately tall enough...but the other one I fear may be right on the cusp for some of these. When I measure him at home he's close. At a recent trip to another amusement park though he come up short and they wouldn't let him ride (bumper cars for example). I'm a bit nervous...we could have a major problem if one got to ride EE and the other didn't.....I need to get that list out with the height requirements and my measuring stick. We are now down to 30 days and counting so I need to prepare the little guy if there may be a problem.

Ha! Sounds like me. My son and I have been playing "Let's Make a Deal" back and forth about rides we want to go on. I am so glad to know I am not the only one who is doing this.

My son is small for his age, he is just a tiny bit over 44 inches which is the height for Expedition Everest, Space Mountain, Mission Space, he is so close that he was denied Mission space.

Tower of Terror, Splash Mountain Thunder Railroad are all 40 inches.

Our problem was the Rock n Roller coaster was 48 inches so he was 4 inches to small, but they gave him an ultimate fast pass to come back when he was tall enough, which I thought was pretty cool.

Depending on how close he is and who the attendant is will get him on the ride if he cuts it really close

I will catch some heat on this but to reassure that he was big enough he had some shoe inserts to help get him to 44.5 inches, I just didn't want to fight the attendants, he was over but I wanted to be sure he could ride.

space mountain freaked me out alittle because I could not sit next to my son, so i sat behind him and kept one hand on top of his head the entire ride, just for my own reassurance (I'm not spelling this right, oh well). My son is 6.5 and only 44" so he has always been restricted by height!!

Expedition Everest is not so much the steepness of the hills, but the fact that there is a really fast backwards part of the ride (hope I didn't spoil it) that got me a bit. But looking at the pictures snapped of us afterwards, I look terrorfied, DH looks sick and my 6 yr old with the biggest smile on his face

I am the proud mama of two ride daredevils. DS did ToT 8 times when he was five. He's vertically challenged as well. He was just barely tall enough for EE and Mission Space this time. He ran up to the height thing at RnR...not quite. It's going to be a few years! DD is 5 and keeps her arms up on rides, even EE!

Thanks, lilsunshine! DD can handle the drops just fine, but I'm a big chicken, so backwards is much better than steep for me! You sound like me -- I always hold on tight to DD whenever we ride a coaster. Logically, I know that my holding onto her shoulders won't keep her in the seat, but it makes me feel better!

I hope your first visit to Disney World was magical!

My DD6 has found her kahunas for this trip, she's ripped that she's going to be too short for RnRC and is trying to convince me to let her go on the orange side of M:S no questions asked (deal stands at she has to obviously enjoy all the other thrill rides she wants to go on first as well as not get sick on the teacups . . . personally I think she'll crack at Dinosaur so I'm not all that worried ). Then again I was the 4 year old on the Canobie Cannonball with my very green father trying to hold me in the seat during the airtime when I had my hands up too.
