It's sad to say but today's culture allows for people to act like they do and I feel social media can be one of the driving forces. I think since people feel its OK to act like a (insert whatever you would like here) on social media, then they can do it in real life. I get people can be hot, tired, cranky, or whatever but it doesn't give you the right to be a jerk to someone else.

I had a teen hit me in the back of the leg with a wheelchair in AK after I dodged multiple oncoming strollers. I was just like, Really???? and turned around. I saw him pushing his gf who had a broken leg and the first words out of his mouth were, I am sorry sir. My reply back was, it's cool and then asked if his gf was OK. You could see she was embarrassed and to try and make light of the situation, I said hopefully his wheelchair driving abilities isn't what got you there in the first place . I wished her a speedy recovery and off they went. Accidents happen, if you take responsibility and apologize people are usually receptive.

But then there are those who feel entitled to act like complete jerks because they can and if you don't like it, tough. Those are the ones that hope is lost on. You can't help but think what are they like in daily life and how can people stand to be around them.

My two biggest ones happened on opposite coasts:

On our honeymoon my husband and I rode BTMR during Wishes and as we were leaving a huge argument between two women erupted in front of us and one of them grabbed the other by the hair and pulled her all the way to the ground by it. The fighting continued as they made their way out of the ride. We flagged down a CM and reported them and helped a manager keep them in site while security was called. The really horrifying part? I'm pretty sure the first women (assaulter) was the second woman's (victim's) daughter.

At DL I was riding Indy and had my long hair in a braided ponytail (in a high ponytail and braided my hair still reaches almost to my waist) and I don't know what happened behind me during the ride except that towards the end the "gentleman" behind me (about 50ish) grabbed my ponytail and pulled it so hard my head snapped back. When we got off I just wanted away from the man and people and my husband kept asking me what we were doing next and where we were going and I finally just told him "I don't care as long as it's away from people for a minute that man just pulled my hair!" I took a couple minutes in a quiet area of the LONG exit and continued on our day - but the next time we rode Indy you can bet I made sure my hair was up in a bun!

(Also about rude people in general this is not the first time someone has pulled or touched my hair - for some reason many people are fascinated by my hair and constantly try and touch it when I'm out and about - a lot of those while I worked at my old job as a security officer in a casino which is just extra annoying)

A guy backpack-checked my 10 year old in the TSM line. The zipper hit her in the eye and she was crying. He was so unapologetic about it. My daughter was so upset we got out of the hour+ line and a CM asked us what was wrong. We explained and the CM sent us through the FP line. I glared at him as he watched us walk by the standby line.

A guy backpack-checked my 10 year old in the TSM line. The zipper hit her in the eye and she was crying. He was so unapologetic about it. My daughter was so upset we got out of the hour+ line and a CM asked us what was wrong. We explained and the CM sent us through the FP line. Wow, these experiences are terrible. It's so sad that there are so many rude people out there.

I guess my family has been lucky to not have had any of these issues at WDW (or DLR) and we've gone on level 10 days. I've experienced the occasional push or shove while walking a huge crowd of people but nothing major and definitely no intentional punching! How sad!

Arghh, the people who wear backpacks that stick out 18" loaded with bricks and bricks chargers and swing around without an extra thought. Consider your cargo! It's your responsibility people aren't whacked or mushed.

I do sympathize as these are mostly dads who have become the pack-mule for their family, but please remember your turning radius includes that 40lb thing sticking out.

WDW exposes those who struggle with spacial relations, lol.

All of these stories sound unbelievable, BUT they are not! I have my own to add:
I had to be in a wheelchair because of plantar fasciitis and not being able to walk. My husband was pushing me at the opening of the MK. This was when they still had the train show (which I miss). He pushed me clear over to the right side of the "road" so we could keep out of the way. As we approached the Ice cream parlor where you can turn right and cut through to fantasyland, this huge man (think linebacker) with a double wide stroller ran right over my left foot rest! My right foot was the injured one. Thankfully, for some reason, I had lifted my left foot off the rest and it did not get injured. However, he broke the wheel and the frame. My husband didn't realize this and tried to push it to 7DMT for our FP. When we got there, the guy was only about 50 people or less in front of us. I have never wanted to smack someone as much as I did then. But I didn't, of course. My husband had to go back to the front of the park and get another W/C. He told the CM what happened and the CM said that sadly that was not an uncommon thing to happen. Really? It is common now to have doublewide strollers run over people.?
This guy never slowed down and we saw him pushing other people out of the way just to get to a ride! That was the rudest thing that has ever happened to us. I was just lucky that my left foot wasn't on the rest or I would have had both feet out of commission! Grrrrr.... Oh, and my husband has nerve damage in his leg, so he has difficulty walking so I was upset that he had to walk all the way back from fantasyland to the front of the MK.

Off topic but I have recovered from plantar fasciitis without surgery (my mother was off her feet 6 months each for her surgery a decade ago). It was horrible not being able to walk, I tried many things. What worked: velcro strap boots that held my feet at 90degrees while sleeping, and lightly stretching my feet anytime before standing. Week by month it continued to improved and now 2 years later fully healed. Built up scar tissue lumps on my arches have shriveled to almost nothing. I also had the nasty heel point inflammation too.

Also, a certain family of strong antibiotics may be linked (Cipro, Levaquin,etc) so last year when amoxicillin didn't work for me, my Doc wrote for Z-pac (which has not been linked to tendon damage). Reaction to Cipro group can be hereditary so if someone in your family had any suspicious soft tissue injury months (even years) after Cipro, be aware for yourself.

This is why I refuse to drive an ECV. I have a torn meniscus, and I sometimes require a wheelchair in WDW. (I didn’t need one in Disneyland, because it’s much smaller.). My husband pushes me in the wheelchair when my knee gives me trouble. We have considered an ECV, but I am terrified of hitting someone especially with the way people stop dead in the middle of everything, and children shoot out of nowhere. The last thing I want to do is hurt someone.

Heather: Thank you so much for that information about PF. I never knew there might be a link with Cipro, etc. That is one AB group that I am able to take without reactions I did the stretching and the bottom of the foot from heel to toes which helped. It gradually got better, but still flares up occasionally though not as bad as while I was at Disney. I also have the heel inflammation you mentioned, and am going to get a cortisone shot before our next trip.

Ultimately Disney creates the environment that leads to these types of incidents happening with their policies.

My family recently visited WDW and the crowds were ridiculous. Considerably more than I saw during my previous visits in 98, 95, 83 and 76. They are packing too many people into these parks.

These posts are helpful to prepare for bad situations that apparently are becoming more common. Thanks to everyone that has shared their encounter with the WDW visitors from the other side of the river Styx. Its always better to be prepared then to be caught off guard. I am a big guy so i guess that has some preventive effect.

The football posts were interesting. When my son was the right age we had season NFL tickets for a few bad seasons. When the season started there was typically optimism and the alcohol problems were negligible. As a bad season wore on alcohol consumption and the related problems increased bad loss after bad loss. After the fifth home game typically the police had to start wading into the crowd and dragging people out.

One other thing-if you are ever being bullied In a large crowd at WDW and you are vocal about it then my guess is that there will always be help within the sound of your voice. There are still a lot of people around that will not tolerate it one bit.

This youtube video is the first showing drunken out of control behavior at WDW. It was scandalous in 2012. I was shocked at that time not believing someone could act like this in WDW. Other videos then began appearing in 2012 showing drunken abusive behavior at WDW-so not that long ago.

Based on certain things we saw at the parks in November, i.e. witnessing a drunken fist fight outside of Test Track, and the latest news about groping assaults that Mickey and Minnie are receiving, it seems we have lost boundaries these days. Nothing is off the table, even when vacationing at the most magical place on Earth. Most times a phone camera is involved. It seems this behavior is made OK because even at the worst, you typically get 15 minutes of fame on Youtube/FB/Instagram. We seem to be far more accepting of bad behavior because we see it often in social media. It even shows up on television in the form of bad pranking shows... hey, go be nasty to that random grandmother and let's capture the embarrassing reaction.
