My sister just called me and is freaking out - **small update**

WTH was he doing calling it at 11:30 at night?!?!

ETA: I'm talking about the exterminator that dropped his phone.

Oh goodness.. I hope she stays with you for awhile or your parents can stay with her !

Ill keep her in my thoughts and yes the police are right people do CRAZY stuff during divorce.

Did she look at who the contacts were in the phone, that may have given some ideas of whose it was too. I would think the police should be able to figure it out.
Hope it ends up ok..

I had already posted that there were no contacts in the phone. But yes, the police should be able to figure it out.

Sorry. I must have missed that.

WHo was calling? Did it show a number?

Sorry missed that...what about the number that was calling the phone? Did she recognized that or did she not have a chance to look at it...if you posted that already...sorry..

It's okay - yes, I posted that it only showed the number that had just called when she heard it ring. She called it back and it went to voicemail and then said that the person hasnt set up a mailbox yet. Which makes me think the phone was just purchased.

Wow that is so scary OP. Please keep us posted. I hope your sis is ok.

That was a scene from the movie Crash. From what I fuzzily remember, Sandra Bullock was robbed by a black man. She wanted the locks changed and the locksmith turned out to be a black man. She was freaking out as he changed the locks, even though he handed her the only two existing sets of keys when he was done.

At some point, you have to realized, some paranoia is over the top. Unless the OP's sister has some reason to suspect the neighbor, he's doing her a favor.

First of all, I've never seen the movie Crash. So, I don't know what having a black locksmith changing the locks has to do with this situation or my post. Secondly, I began my post with the caveat that "I know sometimes I can be very suspicious". Thanks, but I can measure my own level of paranoia w/o your help. ;)

This thread just made me realize I've certainly mellowed in my old age, but not in a good way.

Years ago, I would have probably freaked too. Now, I guess I'm so dumb that I would have actually gone upstairs to investigate thinking that its just a phone, never thinking it could be a PERSON with a phone. :sad2:

I think I need to start watching TV & movies again.

Glad she had her wits about her.

Holy crap....please keep us informed....how scary for her

He probably thought he had lost it somewhere in his own home and was calling it so he could listen for the rings and find it (I do this fairly often! Usually the phone has slipped beneath a cushion or something).

If you KNOW the phone is still in the house (or think it is) you just keep calling and moving from room to room until you're close enough to wherever it is to hear it ring.

Of course if you've accidentally left it at a woman's house, you'll scare the bejeezus out of her! :scared1:

Well, there will likely be prints on the front or back door as well and the banister of the staircase. Was the phone on the floor?

Yes, she said it was on the floor at the top of the stairs.

And she did tell our parents and they think it was her soon-to-be ex husband as well. My DH is the only one who doesnt think it was him!

I wonder why your hubby doesn't think it was him. :scratchin Does he have a theory?

I wonder why your hubby doesn't think it was him. :scratchin

Because he has to say the opposite of what I say!! :rotfl:No, I just think he cant understand WHY he would do that.

Does her ex have a set of keys to the house?

I asked that and she said he said he didnt the last time he left, but who knows if he is telling the truth? He hasnt about anything else.

Well, you can add overly-sensitive too, now to very suspicious. :sad2:

I was pointing out that if the OP's sister watches and see the neighbor handed her ALL sets of keys after he fixes the locks, and she is secure the locks are working properly and not able to be tampered with, even by the neighbor, then she doesn't need to worry about him. :sad2:

I guess you missed all those 70's slasher movies, where we were always shouting, "Don't go down to the basement!" :scared1::scared1::scared1: :lmao:

Of course, they didn't have very many "Don't go UP the stairs," flicks. :teeth:

He was calling it from different places hoping to hear it ring--He was standing in his driveway calling the phone to see if he lost it in the back of his truck when he didn't hear it ring he called someone else for them to go stand at the back of another truck to see if it was in the back of that truck.

Normal procedure for if you can't find your cell phone.

Wow that was a bit snarky.

The way I see it was you were saying you wouldn't trust anyone but a licensed locksmith to change your locks--The PP said that in the movie even though a licensed locksmith had changed the locks the actresses paranoia still remained. She was drawing a parallel between the two.

If the OP sisters has no reservations about her neighbor and he's willing to help her out then great! It will given her a sense of security that she doesn't have right now.
