My secret obsession...antenna balls!

I love them too, been collecting them for years. I had to buy a new larger container, I think I have over 100 now. I stopped putting them on my car when some friends had their's stolen. Now I just display them on my kitchen window ledge. I have four Halloween ones up now. You really have to look everywhere for them. I bought some at the Christmas store in DTD, some in Epcot's World Showcase, in all four parks and in many of the resort shops. My newest one is the 50th Anniversary I bought on our last trip. One of these days I really must stop buying them!!

Have Fun!

THERE'S A STEELER ONE!??!?! I actually purchased 3 of them before I realized that none of our 4 cars had antennas!! Oops!! I returned them - but I wish I had thought about the fishing wire idea!

the very first day i had my stitch one on the car, it was stolen right off!! yes, you read that right~stolen right off my car. i was devastated. :earboy2:

That stinks! I leave my car in the University parking structure during the week, and I always take my antenna topper off before parking. If I left it on while parked in there, I'd be very surprised if it was still there when I came back on Fridays.

Of course, I'm usually surprised that my entire car is still there when I come back at the end of the week, so...

WOW !!! a whole bunch of people like me addicted to anntenna toppers. When I bought my new car in July one of the items it had to have was an antenna and a good sized cubby to store them in. As the salesman was showing me all the "bells and whistles" he said "Now this red button on the remote is helpful when you come out of the mall and forget where you parked" I looked at him and said I won't use that I have a purple Mickey head. He replied " I like yours better. much quieter." then I found out he'd been to WDW 50 times and was planning his Jan 06 trip...Anyway the best place I've found to get antenna toppers is the Christmas Store in DTD...

I love them too - right now I have 125 but looking to expand when I go to WDW in December. I look every once in a while on ebay to see what's new and get them there if I can't find them elsewhere. I know the prices and know what is hot and what is not and do my pricing by there as I don't get to a mall all that often anymore.

It's a fun obsession (and much cheaper than pins unless you drive all over the place looking for them like I did one year!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: ).
Ummmm...okay you put me to shame! I'm not even going to say how few I have compared to some of you! But I will be getting more.

One more thing, I am surprised by the number of responses I got about antenna balls. I thought I was crazy for even asking! But I should have known better. See that's what I love about this site. Everyone else is crazy too! :rotfl: And to use a quote from Jerry Mcquire "I dig that about you"!! :goodvibes

My children - 19 & 23 - refuse to let me put my Mickey heads on my antenna - they take them off and hide them - it's a running joke in our family. Anyway, what I do is put them on pine christmas wreaths and display them for the holidays. They look great, and I get lots of comments on them!!
Just an idea!! :flower:

That is a great idea. I stopped putting them on my car also after the first one got stolen. But I took a wooden circle from the craft store, drilled holes in it and stuck in pieces of dowel in different heights. Then each topper has a home, but you can only have so many this way. I will have to decorate my wreaths. Thanks for the great idea. My favorites: The castle and Pirate.

Goodness me! you people are crazy nuts it's sooooooo funny! i think those antenna toppers are soooooooo cute! I might just have to start my owe collection!! It seems like a "not too expensive but easy to store" hobby! Maybe in a few years I can come back and post my story... I for one won't be putting one on my car because I know they get stolen so easly around my city. I like the hanging idea... will try that!

You guys are great! :flower:

I love those toppers also....

Question Everyone:

How do you display yours in your home!?? I hate having them all thrown together in a vase.

I read the poster who told about her wreath but I need something bigger than that.

Thanks!!

I LOVE the wreath idea! You could do a different one for every season! Oh I can't wait to get off work and think this idea through! Thank goodness I have day off tomorrow! :Pinkbounc

Michael's here I come!

A good friend of mine has shelves lined up in her office. She gets some of that Wacky Tack glue putty, and "glues" each antenna ball in a line going across. She is now working on shelf #4. They look great, and such a conversation piece.

I am building a small 2 inch deep enclosed shelf using dowels to hold them up in the office. Will be putting glass in front of it to keep the dust out too.
Just figering out how many per unit I want it. 12,15,20? who know need to see what looks best. :cheer2:

They are one of the least expensive items to collect at Disney. I originally wanted to collect snowglobes but I only got 2 of them before I realized this "hobby" would soon force me into bankruptcy! So antenna balls it is. And yes they are very cute. :goodvibes

I have Ghost Mickey on one car, Pumpkin Mickey on the other. In November, I'll switch to Pilgrim Mickey and TurkeyMickey. Then in Dec, I'll switch to Christmas Stitch, Santa Mickey, Reindeer Mickey,

It just goes on and on. I have two for every season. I wish they sold the Uncle Sam Mickey separately and not in the seasonal package. I have all the others.

hi

i too have the ghost mickey on my car for halloween. the only thing was my friend didnt have a clue what it was supposed to be and several people have asked me what its meant to be. urm dont you know its ghost mickey of course. lol

im sorry to say my are just shoved in my glove compartment. the reason for that is so that if my mood changes my topper can change too.

I am a antenna topper collector too. Its a great inexpensive thing to collect. The ones I don't have on my car, I bought clear antenna topper stands to put them on. They sit on my computer desk on the top shelf. Some of them I used the eye hook that I put in them to hang from my rear view mirror and a paperclip and hung them from the sides on the computer desk.

I too hang mine from my rearview mirror only because my antenna has a tendency to loosen up. I do have a Tinkerbell one on my antenna right now. I hung the PoC in my DH's Bronco. I need to switch out my golden ears mickey for one of the bat mickey's.

When we go to WDW, DH will see them and ask, "do you have this one?" Most times it is yes, but occasionally it is no. I need to put them all together and take a pic of them so that I know which ones I have and which ones I don't.

Some of them are duplicates, but that is only because I got one from WDW and one from DL.

Our Minnie antenna topper was stolen from our "minie van" :sad2:  I cried when I noticed her missing. Poor Minnie suffered through hail, heavy winds, snow, and even a nasty ice storm. Then poof she was gone! Of course I bought everyone I knew one for their vehicle so I only got Minnie. Next June you can bet I'll be getting a whole bunch!! I'll be smarter then and not be so trusting of others.

I love antenna toppers!!!! The day we bought our Excursion I quickly took the Pirate topper I had on the van and put it on the Excursion. When we pulled into the garage the antenna brushed the bottom of the opened garage door and the pirate went flinging across the garage. So I now have pushed a hole all the way through my toppers and slide them about half way down the antenna and no more flinging!!!!

We did have the zebra striped one on until Oct when we put our devilish Stitch on. I have the 50th celebration Mickey head but will probably save that and not put it on the car. DH has a soccer ball Mickey head.
