Monday, September 13: Dinner at Marrakesh

Oh.
My.
God.

The food was so simple, yet so good. We split an appetizer for two. There was a pastry filled with chicken, and dusted with powdered sugar, and cinnamon, and maybe some nutmeg. There was an egg roll looking thing stuffed with beef and again, dusted with powdered sugar, and cinnamon and possibly nutmeg. We also had a tomato and cucumber salad with vinagrette. It was delicious. Nothing was spicy, and nothing was bland.

Lisa had a chicken shishkabob with rice and I had chicken couscous. Both were AMAZINGLY good. To drink, we each had mint iced morrocan tea.

If you're worried that things are too exotic, or too spicy - don't worry. Give it a chance, and try it. It is absolutely delicious!!!!

Total for 2 with tax and tip: $71.68

Tuesday, September 14:

Cape May Cafe for Breakfast

Delicious assortment of breakfast foods. I loved the cinnamon roll casserole thingee!!! And the blintzes were good too! I guess the driving force of the price must be the characters. Total for 2 including tax and tip: $41.19. Didn't think it was worth all that. Maybe with kids. :)

Wednesday, September 15:

Garden Grill for lunch

All you could eat flank steak, roasted chicken, fried catfish, cornbread stuffing, vegetables, and mashed potatoes and gravy. Jan, our server, was wonderful!!! Lisa has a serious seafood allergy, and she was none too happy to prepare a new skillet leaving out the catfish.

And the strawberry shortcake?!?! That alone was worth the price of the meal. It was SO tasty!!!!! I think it was made with a biscuit and fresh whipping cream. YUM!!!!

We also had a LOT of interaction with characters. The staff thought we were cast members cause Pluto spent so much time with us. He has a crush on our dog, and even wrote "Pluto [heart]'s Matisse" on a napkin. Too funny.

Total for 2 with tax and tip: $46.32

Beaches and Cream for a late night dinner:

Lisa and I split a roast beef sandwich, and a No Way Jose sundae. EVERYTHING was delicious!!!! The roast beef was nice and tender...and why is it that diner fries are THE best fries on the face of the earth?!?!?! They're always so tasty! :)

I don't think ANYTHING needs to be said about the sundae.

Total for 2 with tax and tip: $26.33

Thursday September 16:

Boma for dinner

This is another Oh. My. God. type experience.

I can't even remember everything we ate. Some things standing out in my mind: Shrimp Dumpling soup, Fufu (I think it was some sort of sweet potatoe dish), nut crusted salmon, peanut rice....those are things that stand out in my mind.

I had some drink called Victoria Falls something. Lisa had some sort of punch. Both were delicious! The Victoria Falls thingee was VERY sweet (right up my alley! :) ) and the punch was not.

If you've eaten at Boma, and like it, you will also like Marrakesh. VERY similar experiences.

Total for 2 with tax and tip (2 alcoholic beverages too...): $77.01

Friday, September 17:

San Angel Inn for dinner

Lisa had a strawberry margarita. I don't know what recipe they use, but WOW. That's a LOTTA tequila in there!!!!

It's included in your meal price, but SO worth mentioning: the salsa with the chips they bring you!!! IT'S CHIPOTLE SALSA!!! I love that smokey flavor. If they sold it by the jar, I'd buy some!!!!

We split an order of queso fundido. Chorizo and peppers with melted cheese with tortilla chips for dipping. WOW.

I had shrimp fideo which was angel hair pasta with a tomato sauce and shrimp. SOOO tasty!!!

Lisa had a plato mexicano which included: Beef Tenderloin Tampiquena, chicken enchilada, and ground beef burrito, served with refried beans and rice. She LOVED it!!!

Total for 2 with tax and tip: $88.79

Saturday, September 18:

'Ohana

Wow.

All the meat you can eat served on a skewer. Does it get any better? I think not! They served beef, turkey breast, pork, and tiger shrimp. Sides were shrimp wontons, green beans, fried rice, and a greens salad. Dessert was fresh pineapple with hot caramel.

SO delicious.

Total for 2 (including ONE Lapu Lapu) with tax and tip: $72.81

Sunday, September 19

Originally we had planned to eat at the California Grill and watch Wishes. But our PS was at 8:00 - RIGHT when the fireworks were starting. I'm sure the food was good, but it really was the fireworks I wanted, and we couldn't get any other time. So we switched ourselves to Artist Point.

Lisa had a salad to start, and I had portobello mushroom soup. I usually don't get too worked up about food - but that soup. WHOAH that soup.

Get that soup.

I had cedar plank roasted salmon, and Lisa had pork chops. Both were EXCELLENT.

And because it was our honeymoon, they treated us to an OUT OF THIS WORLD berry cobbler for dessert.

Total for 2, including tax and tip (but NOT including desser): $104.14

Monday, September 20

Kona Cafe for breakfast:

Lisa had pecan pancakes, I had the tonga toast.

I LOVED the tonga toast! I'm so glad that our server advised me to try it before I doused it in syrup. My teeth hurt just THINKING about putting syrup on it afterwards! :)

Lisa thought her pancakes were dry. She doesn't like bananas, and is allergic to egg, so a lot of the menu was not her cup of tea.

Total for 2 with tax and tip: $23.84

There's more, but I'll finish typing it up later. :)

Excellent reviews. Thanks! :D

Shrimp Dumpling soup

I loved that too, but the coconut curry seafood soup they had earlier in the week was even better :D

as for Victoria falls it was a nice place but they really need to work on their beer selection (which is nothing but lagers right now)

Is it time for dinner yet? Very good reviews! I am so glad I'll be able to REreview some of those places in just over a week!

Your drink was the Victoria Falls Mist, I think, and it is one of my favorites! I must put Ohana's back on our list after you desribed it so well. Marrakesh is on the list right now!

First - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Happy Marriage and all that good stuff. Great reviews. Was the server really upset to get a new skillet?? I mean Lisa has a food allergy for pity sake! Glad all your meals seemed delightful but I suspect it was the company that helped( AHHHH love ain't it grand!!!)

Great reviews, and even better selection of restaurants!
I've been meaning to do Marrakesh for a couple years now. You've convinced me this year is the time!

What is the cinnamon bread casserole at Cape May? I don't think I've heard of this.
