Our vacation started on May 29. My husband, my DS14 and
my self flew out of Atlanta at 6:46 in the morning. This was
Memorial weekend, we did not have any trouble at all going
through security at the Atlanta airport. It took no longer than
5 mins. I guess that was one good thing about being out
that early in the morning. Our plane landed at MCO just
before 8:00 a.m. Tiffany Town car was there ready and waiting
to take us over to AKL. His name was Sammy, he was very
friendly. I would recommend Tiffany Town car and will use them
again in the future. We arrived at AKL just before 9:00.
Our room was not ready, so we stored our luggage and
got breafast from the Mara resturant. AKL was not as good
as I was expecting. We have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge
before and I did not think it could compare. After breafast
we walked around and explored AKL. It is a huge resort.
The pool was nice, but not as big as I thought it would be.
Don't get me wrong we enjoyed our stay but, I would not
stay here again. When we finally got checked in we got a
good suprise. We had originally booked a savanna view room
and got upgraded to a deluxe savanna room on the Arusha
view Kudu trail. Our room was nice and we saw lots of animals
from the balcony. Giraffe, Zebra, Ankole cattle and lots of birds.
After a swim in the pool we went to Downtown Disney and
watched Shrek 2. It was better than the first Shrek. After the
movie we rode the bus to MGM and got on the boats to the
Boardwalk, walked around for a while and the went over to
Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club and ate. This was
probaly one of the best hamburgers I have ever ate. It was
even better than the Sci-Fi. After dinner we went back to AKL
walked around, sit by the fire pit and enjoyed the evening.
Tomorrow morning it's up and early and away we will go on
the Disney Cruise Line bus to the port to board the Wonder.
I will post part 2 in another message.
