Not so much a trip report as maybe my experience at the Polynesian resort and what I thought was good. We stayed for the week of June 7-14.
I had requested and received a third floor room on the lagoon side, non-smoking in the Tahiti building. I was very pleased to get all that I had requested. I will say the the view from my room was worth the price as far as Disney pricing go's. My DD, DW and DS really enjoyed being able to see Space mountain and Cinderellas castle from our room, and really liked seeing the fireworks and water parade on the nights we came back early. The luxury of having the monorail to get between Epcot and Disney was priceless and saved alot of time. The Tahiti building is as far from the GCH and lobby monorail stop as you can get inside the Poly, although its still only a 4-5 minute walk. The extra bonus to this building is not only the perfect view and white sand beach, but the ability to walk to the TTC in 4-5 minutes. From there you can go directly to MK or Epcot without changing monorails, and buses to the other parks are more frequent than at the stop by the GCH. I wont stay in another building again!! I stayed at the AKL last trip and loved the resort however the amount of time spent taking long bus rides everywhere took its toll. I will choose the POLY or GF again next time. The volcano pool was a favorite of the kids as well. But at night we liked the quiet pool. Both stayed open until 12 AM. As expected the grounds, amenities and staff had been every thing I expect from Disney. I also highly recommend the room service at the POLY. They had some of the best hot wings ever. And after dining at the GCH for breakfast we found that room service would bring breakfast for little more, to our room at arequested time each day. What a great service this was for us. My Dw is 3 mo. pregnant and would get faint waiting for me and the kids to finally get up shower and leave. So every night we would hang our pre-order tag on our door for breakfast, and exactley when they were supposed to arrive they did, and set the table poured the coffee etc. It was a real luxury that I did not mind paying for. The food was always hot and very good with agreat selection of mickey cakes/waffles etc. I highly recommend trying this at least once.
So much more to say good. I was glad my experience at the POlY was good and to any of you going there I hope you have as great of a time as we did.
And if anyone has any specific questions about the POLY I will be happy to share my thought or knowledge.

HAPPY VACATIONING

What a thrill it was reading your post! We are headed to the Poly exactly one month after your trip, July 7-14. This will be our second stay at the Poly and I had the exact same feeling you did after staying there our first time.

Glad you had such a great trip!

Glad to hear you liked the Poly. It is my favorite resort. Room service is a must for us and we love the Poly room service. Wings are one of our favorites but also the BBQ chicken quesidillas are the best. I don't think they are on the menu anymore but can be asked for. Delicious! We too have had breakfast many times in our room utilizing the preorder form. What a time saver and it sure beats a granola bar that I see so many wolfing down on the way to the parks! DD must have a grilled cheese delivered to the room at least once a trip too! In just two more weeks I will be making my PSs for our Sept/Oct trip and I cannot wait! It will be one year since we have been there and it feels like a second home to us. We really miss it!

We also got breakfast room service at the Polynesian last month and it was really good. I like the island potatoes.

Glad you had a great trip. How was the remodel in the GCH going ? Is capt. cooks done ? Any other rehab that you noticed going on ? Thanks

skiwee, I think we were there the same time as you last Oct, and here I am planning to return again at that time. Maybe we will see you at the Poly! LOL ( in fact, weren't we already there two times now at the same time?)

Disney Billpayer, several years ago we stayed in Tahiti (concierge was full, it was a last minute trip) and we loved it. It is an awesome location! We also did room service instead of going to the GCH. In fact, we use room service every trip at least once or twice, even staying concierge. The beach by Tahiti is great too, very private and relaxing--much more so than the beach outside Hawaii and the Volcano pool. If we couldn't stay in Hawaii, Tahiti wins our vote. Glad you had a good time! Aloha!

I'm so glad you had a wonderful trip. The only room service we have tried there is pizza for a late night snack. We will have to try more next time.
Thanks for the post.

I think you are right. There was also another Diser there last year and in the same building as I. What dates are you going to be there? We are at the Poly Sept 30-Oct. 10.

well, our dates are not firm yet due to the Hawaii building rehab, and some friends are coming along too....but right now it's looking like Oct 7-16. Usually we go the week earlier (your dates) but friends can't make that week, and concierge is possibly under rehab. In fact, we may be at AKL the first two or three nights. Do you have firm ressies for concierge those dates?

We aren't staying concierge. We've never stayed concierge at Disney yet. Just a gardenview for us! LOL!

Glad you had a great time. THanks for posting. What room number were you in?

Aloha

Capt. cooks was in one piece and operational. The resort had some landscape renovation and exterior repainting going on. But none of it was a distraction. The outside of the Tahiti bldg. was just repainted. I know that major room remodeling is under way in the resort, I have seen the resulting room decor and it looks great, although our room looked quite fresh and pleasant as well. :goodvibes

Hey Tikiman love your site! We stayed in room 3021 and it was fabulous. We also would like to send a letter of thanks or recognition to disney on behalf of a CM at the front desk named Matt, I was told he was the supervisor. He did such a great job of linking my two resevations together so I would not have to switch rooms midway. And also helped transfer all my park pass info etc. to new cards when my stay switched from one reservation to the next. Do you know an E-mail adress I could send Kudos to? :goodvibes

Glad to hear you had such a nice stay.

So Captain Cook's hasn't expanded at all yet?

Can you tell us where you saw the new decor and what colors you saw? Thanks! :sunny:

I saw pictures from a CM that showed the new rooms that had been completed in the Hawaii longhouse which I believe is the concierge level. I had seen some photos here on the dis boards that showed the same decor. The rooms looked a little less 70's era and had a flat screen T.V. and lighter colored carpets. The CM said that they plan on updating each long house as time gos on. But I really thought the Tahiti longhouse had very fresh looking furniture carpets and wall coverings. I am not sure when it was last renovated although as I said they had just repainted the exterior. And captain cooks had not been any larger than I remember my last trip through although I spent little time there as I stayed at AKL that trip. The new store bou tiki was great and had a decent selection of Dis outfits and bathing suits for DW and DD :goodvibes

Thanks for a great review!

We're heading to the Polynesian in about a month and I am really excited.

Did you request turndown service? And do you remember what breakfast fare was offered from room service and prices? Doesn't have to be exact...just wondering! Thanks!!!
