My recent Polynesian Stay

I saw pictures from a CM that showed the new rooms that had been completed in the Hawaii longhouse which I believe is the concierge level. I had seen some photos here on the dis boards that showed the same decor. The rooms looked a little less 70's era and had a flat screen T.V. and lighter colored carpets. The CM said that they plan on updating each long house as time gos on. But I really thought the Tahiti longhouse had very fresh looking furniture carpets and wall coverings. I am not sure when it was last renovated although as I said they had just repainted the exterior. And captain cooks had not been any larger than I remember my last trip through although I spent little time there as I stayed at AKL that trip. The new store bou tiki was great and had a decent selection of Dis outfits and bathing suits for DW and DD :goodvibes

Rooms completed in the Hawaii longhouse? I thought those were further down on the schedule. But, seems like things are changing a lot and I don't monitor all that carefully. Anyone have info. on this?

Maybe he meant Tonga? Tonga IS done, I've seen pics on another Disney site - and it houses concierge, but all suites. Just speculating here, since most recent threads indicate that Hawaii will be down in Sept. People have even gotten calls about it so that they could choose another resort's CL. Hope this helps a bit.

Yes, I believe you are right the CM did mention concierge in the conversation. Anyhow wherever they had been located they looked awsome. :goodvibes

Thanks for a great review!

We're heading to the Polynesian in about a month and I am really excited.

Did you request turndown service? And do you remember what breakfast fare was offered from room service and prices? Doesn't have to be exact...just wondering! Thanks!!!

I wish I had remembered to try the turndown service. THere had been special turndown services of various themes offered on a menu but I do not remember the cost.
As for breakfast they offered Mickey cakes and Waffles, hot and cold cereals, all sorts of eggs and omlets, my favorite was the stuffed french toast (bannana stuffed). There also were the usual breakfast meats as well as fruit plates etc. It was all very good. They also gave the kids crazy straws shaped like Mickey. I remember the kids Mickey cakes being around $ 7.00, when dining at the GCH the cost was maybe a buck cheaper although they add a 3 dollar delivery charge to the whole bill and an 18 % gratuity is automaticalyy figured in. Any further tipping is optional. I will say when dining at the GCF the total cost for me and DW,DD and DS was about $45.00 at breakfast after tip so it worked out to be a little more for this convenience, but we felt was well worth the luxury. Hope you enjoy your stay Aloha!!!! :goodvibes
