My recent Alamo rental report

I posed several questions about the use of alamo in recent weeks. Well I just got back last night and this is how my rental went.


Picked up the car on the 19th of May. I used a coupon so it would not let me check in on line. (Signed up for frequent rental program on Alamo website) No problem, it was 11'ish and I was not suppost to get it till noon anyway. Took about 25 minutes in line at counter, no pressure tactics, given paperwork, went to midsize aisle to pick out car. In the midsize aisle were full size vehicles only. I choose a malibu wagon, gold, plenty of room. It had room for 5 adults, and all ten pieces of our luggage.

car did very well with gas mileage.

Returned car on May the 27th. No problems. Total cost 144.10 used entertainment coupon for 20 off weekly rental. This cost was for an 8 day rental.

Why did you wait at the counter if you were signed up with QS?

I could not check in on line because I had a coupon. and because it said I had to sign a master agreement and had to go to the counter for my first rental. this is what I was instructed to do on my reservation therefore this is what I did..



if you have used alamo before would you please tell me for future reference something.

does using a coupon next time keep me from going straight to the garage? or does it matter.

I believe that you cannot do the on-line check in when using a coupon. But, you can use a coupon w/ Quick Silver Program.

Are you a Quick Silver member, Kim?

For our first rental with QS last year, with a coupon, we weren't required to stop at the counter for first QS use, etc. (maybe that has since changed?)
We just went to the QS booth in the garage, and had no problems (or waits).

Might I ask where you fueled up before dropping off? (Thanks!)

We just got back from our 1st trip to WDW and we rented with Alamo too! We got a Saturn Vue for $215 for May 9-22nd....a great deal. We had no problems other then they tried to talk us into purchasing insurance and we had our insurance card with us to show them just in case they asked. OH...and there was no windshield washer fluid so our windshield was pretty nasty from all the dead bugs-LOL!

I fueled at gas station near the McDonalds on Sandlake. Then I fueled again just to top off just past florida mall. I saw the report on higher prices on orlando news at some gas stations near the airport. So that is why I fueled twice. can't remember name of gas station near airport. Sorry.


Yes, I am quick silver member but I am new to using alamo.

I believe that if it is an entertainment coupon then they do require it at checkin. I think that those have some special restrictions attached to it. Checking in online is an excellent thing, I have already checked in to get our MID-size SUV on this Friday. I did the online check in before and it was painless. Just be sure to use the same credit card you used to checkin with. Hope this helps

We're using an Entertainment Book coupon ($25 off), and I'm hoping we just can go to the QS booth rather than the terminal counter.
We used an Alamo internet coupon last time, and just went to the QS booth.
Just have to wait and see, I guess...

We're leaving this Wednesday, and I'll be sure to post our experience when we get back.

I haven't used Alamo yet, but I have been reading all the trip reports about them. It seems that you can go to the QS booth in the garage even if you have a coupon. I haven't used my QS card yet, but my reservation doesn't say anything about going to the counter. I believe I was sent a master agreement in the mail to sign and return. Did you join shortly before your trip?
